While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Expect a few scares with 'Community's' Halloween episodeThey've met "Batman" and turned into zombies, so what does "Community" do for an encore in its third Halloween episode on Thursday night? It'll be an episode that encompasses "lots of costume changes and special effects and a couple of real scares," according to actress Yvette Nicole Brown. "I thought last year with the zombies was the limit, but this year is even more fun and inventive." Brown explained, "Britta needs to find out something about a particular study group member and she believes the best way to find it out is by having the gang tell spooky stories. The story each person tells says a lot about who they really are. They're enlightening on many levels!" Highest-grossing actor ever? Samuel L. JacksonSamuel L. Jackson’s many films have brought in more money than any other actor's, ever. It may be somewhat surprising, but according to the Guinness Book of World Records, Jackson’s films have raked in $7.57 billion through 2010, according to a spokesperson for Guinness. His record's been in the book since 2007. Since his 1991 debut in Spike Lee’s “Jungle Fever,” the busy actor has made more than 100 movies, many of them blockbusters. 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel in the works?A “Dumb And Dumber” sequel might be the Farrelly brothers’ next project, Deadline reports. And yes, they would employ the original cast! Writers have already been hired to script the film, and now that “Dumb and Dumber” directors Peter and Bobby Farrelly have wrapped “The Three Stooges,” another Harry and Lloyd adventure may be next on their list. If you lived under a rock during the ‘90s, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels starred in 1994 hit “Dumb and Dumber” as dimwitted pals Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne. Designer Waldo Fernandez, who’s worked for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, will do the space’s interior. The Throwback: 'Great Pumpkin' at 45The classic "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" is celebrating its 45th anniversary today. Meaning, if "Great Pumpkin" were a marriage, this would be its sapphire anniversary. Good grief! The classic Peanuts gang Halloween special originally aired on October 27, 1966. It airs tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. ET. CNN spoke to Neil Cole, President and CEO of Iconix Brand Group, which owns Peanuts Worldwide as a joint venture with the family of Charles Schulz. 'Cool': Beavis and Butt-head are backWith “Jersey Shore” on hiatus, Thursday will no longer be known as “Jersday” on MTV. Starting tonight, the day that once belonged to Snooki and The Situation will host the most famous teenage delinquents of the ‘90s: Beavis and Butt-head. After seven seasons on MTV, “Beavis and Butt-head” went off the air in 1997. More than a decade later, Mike Judge is back voicing the heavy-metal music fans. “Cool.” Depp pays Gervais back for Golden Globes jokesIf it feels like Gervais' routine at the Golden Globes was a lifetime ago, it's because it sort of was, but that doesn't make this clip from the comedian/actor's new show any less funny. Gervais recruited Johnny Depp to play the disgruntled Hollywood star still ticked that Gervais had the nerve to "trash" him "in front of, like, 200 million people at the Golden Globes," as "The Rum Diary" actor says in the clip for the sitcom "Life's Too Short."
Katie Holmes as 'HIMYM's' slutty pumpkinAre you in the The actress will be on Monday's Halloween edition of "How I Met Your Mother" as the "slutty pumpkin" that Ted (Josh Radnor) has been hoping to reconnect with since episode six. Finally, this hard to find love interest is unmasked, and we find out that her name is Naomi and that it apparently takes her a few drinks before she breaks out in her best tootsie roll. Creator Craig Thomas told Vulture when he and Carter Bays announced the casting in September that Holmes "is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we've saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show's history." Watch Holmes don the slutty pumpkin wear on the October 31 episode of "How I Met Your Mother," on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
Josh Holloway, Chris Brown land 'Planet B-Boy'Chris Brown's acting career is moving right along: The 22-year-old star, also appearing in Steve Harvey's film "Think Like A Man," has been cast alongside "Lost" actor Josh Holloway in "Planet B-Boy," according to Entertainment Weekly. Production is already underway for the film, which is based on the lauded documentary of the same name. "Jumping the Broom's" Laz Alonso, Josh Peck ("Drake & Josh") and Caity Lotz ("Mad Men") have also been cast. The doc "Planet B-Boy" focused on the international breakdancing community, and the plot for the fictional release follows the same idea. It'll tell the story of an American group of b-boys who travel to France to compete in the Battle of the Year International Championships. We don't know the specifics on the roles Brown and Holloway will portray, but one can guess they'll have to bust a move at least once. The director of the "B-Boy" documentary, Benson Lee, is also directing this adaptation. |
