Catherine Zeta-Jones lands role in 'Broken City'Catherine Zeta-Jones’ last big starring role was in 2007 rom com “No Reservations,” but CZJ is prepping for a comeback: Entertainment Weekly reports that she’s signed on for upcoming crime drama “Broken City.” Zeta-Jones, 42, joins Russell Crowe and Mark Wahlberg in the neo-noir, slated for release in 2014. After a hard year dealing with bipolar II disorder and husband Michael Douglas’s cancer treatment, the Oscar-winning actress will begin working on her next big project in November.
The movie sees the mayor of New York (Crowe) searching out a man he suspects is having an affair with his wife, played by CZJ. A Brooklyn detective (Mark Wahlberg) takes the case and becomes entangled in a corrupt election. Allen Hughes (“The Book of Eli,” “Dead Presidents”) is directing the big budget flick. “Broken City” won’t be out for a few years, but you can catch Catherine in the Tom Cruise-led musical adaptation “Rock of Ages” next year. |
