Macy's T-Day parade gets Tim Burton balloon

A creepy creation by director Tim Burton is ready to join this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. The New York Times reports that next month, a Burton-designed balloon will float next to familiar faves like Snoopy and Spider-Man.

The mind behind movies including “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Beetlejuice” and “Edward Scissorhands” has created a character called B. Boy for the November 24 event.

“It’s such a surprise to be asked, and it was great,” Burton told the paper. “It’s such a surreal thing that you don’t even believe what you’re hearing. Somebody’s trying to play a joke on you or something. It had that kind of feeling.”

While you were working...

Today's news you might've missed:

  • In one corner, we have Milla Jovovich, star of "The Three Musketeers," which opens today. In the other corner, we have the studio, Summit Entertainment. Jovovich has been throwing punches at Summit left and right today, tweeting, "Are "summit" promoting it as a family adventure movie? Or are they resting on their laurels from "twilight" n making no effort?...I think "summit" hve swept "3 Musketeers", a grt family adventure film, under the rug in the US...SHAME ON YOU "SUMMIT"." The KO is that Jovovich uses quotes around the word Summit, as if to accuse the studio of not even being real. This round goes to Jovovich, because she just got the promotion she sought. [Twitter]
  • Drake's album has been pushed back till November, but if you were on Twitter today you noticed that he's got a little something something circulating for the fans who are having a hard time waiting. The track "The Real Her," featuring Lil Wayne, has leaked, although it's unclear if it'll be on "Take Care" or not. [DiverseHipHop via MTV]
  • In other movie news, "Paranormal Activity 3" opened at midnight Friday, and it's already bringing in decent returns: $8 million just from the midnight shows. [LAT]
  • Mariah Carey on husband Nick Cannon: "When he's nice, he's the best guy in the world. You know, he's a man...Let's call it what it is." More where that came from on "20/20" tonight on ABC at 10 p.m. ET. [People]
  • The trailer for Angelina Jolie's directorial debut "In The Land of Blood and Honey" has arrived:

Cringe-worthy moments on 'Grey's'

Last night's episode, aptly titled "Poker Face" (and not Lady Gaga's), was all about masks, disguises and putting up walls.

Meredith and Derek have thrown themselves into their work, yet promised one another that they will not discuss work at home. Meredith - in pink scrubs! - is doing a rotation in obstetrics, which Cristina sensitively refers to as "slumming it" with "The Vagina Squad."

After telling Meredith that the idea of her dear friend becoming an OB/GYN makes her "nauseous," she shrieks, "We have standards, Meredith!" Cristina further fuels the fire upon learning that Meredith is involved with the clinical trial by saying, "you're wasting your fifth year playing around with vaginas and mice."

Weeklies cheat sheet: Over before it began

Whatever the situation between Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher is or was, that's been replaced with speculation that Kim Kardashian is having marital problems of her own.

Although we just saw her marriage special on TV earlier this month, there are rumors that each newlywed has been spotted without their respective rings and they're already headed for splits-ville. That, plus the perpetual story that Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lopez are dating, in this edition of weeklies cheat sheet.

A visit from Mom on 'The Big Bang Theory'

I'm gonna level with you. As great as Laurie Metcalf is in pretty much every role she's ever played, the episodes where she guest stars as Sheldon's mom are not my favorites.

It kind of seems like there's not much left in the well to go back to with her, unfortunately (though I think there's still a lot more that could be done with Christine Baranski as Leonard's mom).

Don't get me wrong, the episode had its share of great one-liners ("There's a lot of harm in trying something new. That's why we test out drugs and cosmetics on bunny rabbits"), and I enjoyed her playing off Leonard and taking all of the characters to church.
