'Real World': Occupy Wall Street?

Are MTV producers going after activists for the next cycle of reality series “The Real World”?

The network declined to comment, but a Craigslist casting call is urging Occupy Wall Street protesters to “tell their unique stories on our show.”

Under Manhattan’s TV/film/video/radio jobs, you’ll find a listing titled, “Part of Occupy Wall Street? Real World 27 Wants You!”

The listing asks protesters to contact casting with recent photos and a brief bio. But only if you look really young! Specifically: “If you are over the age of 20 and appear to be between the ages of 20-24, and the description below sounds like you, we want to hear from you!”

The “description below” simply asks, “Are you a part of the OCCUPY WALL STREET movement?”

The current season of "Real World" takes place in San Diego and the drama is decidedly unpolitical. The hard bodies spend their on-camera time hooking up, fighting and frolicking on the beach.

This is the best thing ever, it is about time that people rise up against this predatory capitalism, I'm all for personal responsibility but the system has been stacked up the middle class for decades. The rich and corporations set up a system of them getting all the profits and the middle class gets all the loses. Look what happened when we bailed them out. They ran their business in the ground and still was able to keep all their exorbitant pay. I think it was the economist to Bush. When the rich has to share with the middle class that is SOCIALISM, BUT WHEN THEY TAKE FROM US IT IS BUSINESS. They can set up the conditions that we prosper as well, the redistribution from the middle class to the elite in this country has got to stop. In the last 20 years. our pay only raised by 4% and the 25%. We as the tax payer has lost our personal wealth. Asking to be treated fairly is not taking from the rich. You earn you wealth by working. It can be done. To where we all prosper

This is sad, the Occupy Wall Street "movement:" They who claim to speak for the 99% don't even make up 1% of the city in which they protest. They have intentions that are not what they appear to be. Some call for the murder of those who they want to take money from. So, now they get celebrity support? Will they take money away from the celebs? Will they take money away from those in political power who make and have millions...like Obama, Pelosi, Boehner? They make lots of money. Obama says he understands them. How much does he when they would call for his removal?

OWS looks like a bunch of idealistic young hippie wannabes who shout about stealing and killing others to get their money. I have seen very little "racial inclusion" in all the reports. I see people sitting around like they've become part of this large collective with no individuality.

The media is making OWS bigger than what it is. Just like the Tea Party.

Ur wrong. This is how society works and its why this Ows is in action. There is 1% of the city there because everybody is so brain washed in feeling the stresses of life which has been put in them by this sick elitest group. People r working their slave jobs trying to just make some sort of sad living as their credit cards are over due and they have to make rent and they r happy just to have a job and not be left on the streets. This is the problem of what the nwo or elitests have created. They make everyone live with fear that something bad will happen to their money or by terrorists and people watch cnn fox msnbc but that's all brain wash biased bs. If people knew what the real fight of Ows was. People would not help but to be there. This fight is way bigger than u could possibly imagine. Most those individuals at Ows are confused anyway. They know something is wrong. Something needs to change. Atleast they r there. They r just not 100% sure of what's driving everything to be so crappy as it is.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is a front group for George Soros and backed by Obama. Welcome to Nazi America The Fourth Reich. Everything resembles Nazi Germany in 1935-1939. Washington sets policy, we elect them to set policy. They aren't setting policy to protect consumers/investors/Americans. Therefore, the problem is Washington. Get behind ONE demand that COVERS all problems, Demand all members of congress resign. Hold new elections. New representation. Think about it. If we are successful and rally behind this and we succeed, what kinda message will effect change for decades in D.C.? The power of the people to force EVERY elected member of congress to resign should last for years. Give it more than 4 seconds of thought. Demand all members of congress resign. Hold new elections. These big Wall Street firms test the prevailing political winds and contribute
to whomever they think will be sitting in judgement of them.

We want the HEADS of those at ALL of the Wall Street firms who committed the
massive FRAUDS that collapsed the financial sector and our economy.

We don't recognize any of these "deals" where token fines are paid in exchange

    A reality TVshow for Wall Street featuring these 3rd generation apartment dwellers as the winter approaches. After Snookie I am not surprised. At least it won't last too long. A M E R I C A N A U T U M N

Take heart, those of Occupy wall street. You are on a noble course. Your voices have been heard and joined by countless others. Like the first Americans who could no longer endure the tyranny of a British rule, you are making your concerns heard. Your worthy actions have spread like a wildfire, bringing a light and direction for real Change, for no more will Americans accept the empty rhetoric of bought and owned politicians.

There are some who call your actions 'unorganized'. They do this in an attempt to minimize your efforts; but their devices are known and their days, as they well know, are near an end. Let their words not affect your spirit nor cloud your thinking. This event is like a melding of many elements which will come together and be forged into one mighty sword. For, as in this country's origins, those Colonists were deemed 'disorganized'. But from among those struggling Patriots arose those who became our Founding Fathers, the originators of the Declaration of Independence; and by their brave actions this Great America of the People was born.

Your actions are a new wind that finally brings Hope to the People. But take caution. Some of those who oppose you are desperate and without conscience. The many crimes of government officials, bankers, Wall Street, Federal Reserve (not a government agency), and other corporate thievery – they may try to hide their actions by wiping clean all computer records. Protect yourselves. Keep current paper statements of your bank accounts and deposits, and proof of mortgages and other ownership of property. Trust nothing to electronic files. This will reduce any chaos of their actions, as well as effects of solar activities, now increasing.

Be encouraged by the numbers joining your ranks. Soon, perhaps those of the Police and other agencies, who will find their invested retirement funds and pensions reduced or vanished, will join your ranks. The military too, for their lives have been spent in two wars founded on lies, and their valiant labors have been barely rewarded.

To the students and young people: Know many of you are the children of those who resisted the Draft of the Vietnam years. They are the generation of those men and women who died in the horrors of WW2 and came back immediately to claim: No More War Ever! Through their genetics, you have inherited their bravery and other ennobling qualities. When you see parents and older ones among you, know you are in great and bold company.

As in the days when this Country was forged – Trust in God. There is a Source (a Force, if you will), of which you are part, and which connects all living beings. When needed, ask for help to strengthen your efforts, or the inspiration to move your plans forward. And know your thoughts radiate out to others, equally strengthening and inspiring them. The Founding Fathers knew this. Follow their example and make this land a shining place once again. So be it.

You all need to get off your butts and do some work rather than surf YT, FB and Tweeting while your jobs are leaving the country. No one held a gun to your head making you spend more than what you earn. You have become worse than broke by going into debt. I would take this Wall Street movement more seriously if the protesters stopped having "movements" on police cars. The forecasters are predicting more heavy snowfalls (over 50 inches) just like the last 2 years.....so I think they are about to be out flanked by the New York area's usual noreasters. The east coast's torrential rain today is only the opening gambit, as the temperatures drop frost will be arriving probably within the next fortnight. When snow arrives it will need to be cleared by hand because of the presence of the protesters. If snow is not removed in 24 hours the park will be required to close for safety, that includes ice too! I have camped for over 30 years & today's tents are just not meant for long occupation. The fabric breaks down with sunlight & extreme temperatures. They also collapse easily. It looks like the Wall Street movement are out on a limb & sawing it off behind them. Either the temperatures, the snowfall, or the inevitable weather related illnesses will finally have the city clear the park for the protester's safety. When that occurs the protesters will look stupid for not knowing enough to get inside out of the weather like silly geese. Especially after the protesters start having medical emergencies brought on by the weather. This is winding down, accept it.

This movement is going nowhere because it's fighting the wrong problem. Get off your butts and do some work rather than surf YT, FB and Tweeting while your jobs are leaving the country. No one held a gun to your head making you spend more than what you make. You have become worse than broke by going into debt. I've worked my way out of the welfare system my parents milked during the worse economy yet. There are plenty of jobs. I've saved after bills and taxes $40k in 3 months. Work for a change!

Yeah XO...get off your butt and get a job for minimum wage or go to college and spend 60-100K on an education that will get you a 32K a year job. All the while half your income goes to paying off your education. I often wonder what reality people like you live in? Your logic says that people must remain poor so they can save to live poor when they get old. Yeah, great idea...idiot.

40K in 3 months? I say that is total hogwash. Unless you stole it.

Why do you ignore people like me? Sixty-two years old, masters degree in information science, worked every day since I was 16, not a penny of debt, own my house, worked over 9 years at my last job, walked in one day and got laid off.

Plenty of jobs? Try being over 60 and getting a job, nitwit. Even with education and experience and living in a high-tech town, I'm still subject to the whims of Big Business. I was off for 10 months until I found a 6-month contract job. When it's done, I'll be back to unemployed again. My tax money paid to bail out guys who are still getting big bonuses, while they guys they installed in Washington ignore me in their rush to do favors for their Wall St. owners.

Why do you defend your masters? Why do you denigrate people who have the nerve to stand up against rich criminals? Where is it written that the rich have the right to take it all and own the government? The only justification for having a government is the need for people to band together to do things collectively that they cannot do alone, like defense, a health care system, and putting the brakes on monopolists like the Wall St. criminals. Our government is not doing its job, and Wall St. money is the reason.

I'm 57 years old and have been out protesting in NY for 3 weeks now. My testicles hang down around my knees, my eyesight is bad, my prostate is the size of Lindsey Lohan's face and I have 24/7 flatulence. I wonder if MTV will cast me on the show?

When Reality TV wants you, it's over. The Revolution will not be televised. Been fun, weirdos.

Idea- nypd is waiting for the cold and frigid weather to shut you down. They will consider camping in below freezing temps a public safety risk and issue. Stock up now on donated blankets, scarfs, gloves, and BATTERY HEAT PACKS before time runs out

The Occupy Movement is majority white. Therefore, they must be racists – right? After all, isn't that what the Left said about the Tea Party?

A lot of the people that control wall street and many other major corporations today were, in their youth, dirty filthy white hippies as you call them. Now they're called steve jobs, jeff bezos, bill gates, and probably half of the ceo's of investment banks as well. see, these dirty white hippies did really well in school which apparently you did not

I think the left started calling the Tea Party racists when they started calling the President a nig ger. Before that they just called them dumb out of touch old people who carried moronic signs like "Keep the government out of my Medicare".
