Johnny Depp, who calls Brando a mentor, joked at the premiere of his film "The Rum Diary" that he tried to do the same when he was being interviewed by King for a CNN special.
"I tried, [King] wouldn't have it," Depp told CNN. "He was very sweet. He's someone I admired for a long time. He's a real old school proper journalist."
King and Depp talk about everything from Brando to why Depp will never get adjusted to fame to "The Rum Diary," which opens on October 28.
That's not all Depp has up his sleeve: The actor is also working on a movie about Dr. Seuss, and he expects to star in the feature.
"I was always a big fan of Dr. Seuss, and Theodor Geisel's estate and his widow have been very welcoming to us and it's looking very good," he tells CNN of the project's progression. As far as playing him, Depp says, “I think so, yeah."
King's interview with Depp airs Sunday at 8 p.m. ET.
