Friday's Top Five: Kevin BaconThe new "Footloose" opens today, and young and nostalgic audiences will certainly flock to the film, tap their feet along to the soundtrack and watch today's version of Ren, Willard, and Ariel. Still, it’s hard to accept this story of rebellious youth without associating it with Mr. Six Degrees himself, Kevin Bacon. (Fans of the original Ren McCormack will have to settle for a voice appearance on a new episode of Robot Chicken. He’ll be teaching the Peanuts how to cut loose in stop motion on October 23, check your local listings.)
There are only a handful of actors who have had careers as prolific as his over the past 30 years. In fact, there’s probably no other actor that has played as many characters with single syllable first names: Ren, Nick, Jake, Vic, Chip, Sean, Jack, and so forth. As a tribute to the man who first took on on Beaumont’s Town Council and made dancing through an abandoned mill look cool (sort of), this week’s list is dedicated to the best of Kevin Bacon. Now everybody cut, everybody cut….everybody cut "Footloose," and tell us your favorite K.B. classics. (And yes, our numero uno is a no-brainer.) 1. "Footloose" (1984): “Hey, hey! What's this I see? I thought this was a party. LET'S DANCE!” – Ren McCormack
2. "She’s Having a Baby" (1988): “And in the end, I realized that I took more than I gave, I was trusted more than I trusted, and I was loved more than I loved. And what I was looking for was not to be found but to be made.” – Jake Briggs
3. "Mystic River" (2003): “Sometimes I think, I think all three of us got in that car...” – Sean Devine
4. "White Water Summer" (1987): “This is not acceptable behavior” – Vic
5. "Quicksilver" (1986): “I go as fast as I like” – Jack Casey (Checkout the trailer dubbed by the late Don LaFontaine...”In a world where the pressure’s off”...classic '80s movie trailer.)
Honorable Mention: "The Woodsman" (2004): Not a well known film but Kevin Bacon received Oscar buzz for his controversial and sympathetic portrayal as a recovering pedophile. He also co-starred with his wife Kyra Sedgwick. "A Few Good Men" (1992): “Your boys are going down, Danny. I can't stop it anymore.” – Captain Jack Ross
"Sleepers" (1996): “You gotta have rules and you gotta have discipline.” – Sean Nokes

Murder in the First is one of my favorites. I also really like The Woodsman, which got an honorable mention. Sleepers is also one of my favorites. The River Wild! Animal House! He was also in the first Friday the 13th!
The remake is awful. I remember when the first one came out and everyone was dancing in the theaters..this new one didnt make you feel like dancing..at all!!!
Murder in the First without a doubt one of Kevin's best. He showed his full range of acting ability. He did Footloose, in my opinion, to pay the bills.
His role in Apollo 13 was good. It is also a good movie to use in Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon
Murder in The First was his best movie.........the intensity and range of his acting took my breath away. Worthy of an Oscar nod, at the very least. HE WAS ROBBED!! Flatliners and Sleepers are also near the top of my list.
No mention of Hollow Man! That's 1 of my favs.
What about Murder in the First? He was brilliant in that!
I have a warm spot in my heart for any actor who started out in Animal House, but Bacon's performance in Murder in the First is by far better than Footloose.
Animal House – his part was small but he was great!
kena305@gmail.com – that is WOW
I liked him in Stir of Echoes.
Stir of Echoes....hello!!!!!!!
I agree have you seen the interview?? I've seen it posted at CELEBUR.COM the video is still up i think.

Um, where is Animal House??
I have always loved Kevin Bacon. In addition to the roles already mentioned, he was great in JFK, He Said, She Said, My Dog Skip and who can forget Animal House?
Wild things... FULL frontal nudity.... yummy
Yea..that was Flatliners with Kiefer Sutherland and Julia Roberts. That was a good one also. I don't think I saw Taking Chance. Have to check it out.
I think it's cool that he took some time away from big roles to play dad while Kyra does her show.
Speaking of her, Pyrates was a good flick.
why does no ever mention the start...soap operas, guiding light
I agree have you seen the interview?? I've seen it posted at CELEBUR.COM the video is still up i think.
What about "Taking Chance"? I thought it at least deserved honorable mention if not top 5.
I'm surprised no one mentioned Balto.
Kevins Bacon in my butt...MMM!!
Great list–can't wait to "Hear It For The Boys". How about that movie where they were med students putting people into comas.
Flatliners. Great flick.
Yes, really..where the hell is Death Sentence? That was a great movie and is one of my favorites! Not a dull moment from start to finish. I also liked, Stir of Echoes, Wild Things, The River Wild.
Kevin bacon rulea!!!
Hey check out an awesome interview with the original "Ren McCormack " Kevin Bacon at: http://culturecatch.com/vidcast/kevin-bacon
What? No love for Tremors?
Murder in the First was a good movie.
I have to agree and i watched it last night, very sad movie.
TREMORS!!! Best way to keep your feet-loose is to dance around the graboids.
Yes!!! Thank you! Tremors was the the first Kevin Bacon movie I ever saw (it was one of the few we had recorded from TV). Since then Kevin Bacon has been my major crush!
Taking Chance was my favorite
Kevin can fry his bacon in my pan any ole time.
Mystic River is one of the best movies he's in. Also check out the HBO film Taking Chance. But why didn' they include Tremors? Mindless but fun to watch!
Uuugh where the heck is DEATH SENTENCE? Really no mention? Hands down this is one of the best movies I have ever seen. His portayal of the character is mind blowing. Also no Hollowman either? Who wrote this article YOU'RE FIRED!!!!
Fired?!? That's harsh!
Wow. No mention of Flatliners. I guess they are just mentioning the ones he starred in.
Flatliners, good call. List is dedicated to favorite Kevin Bacon roles, not enough space for them all but tell us your favorites, there are tons
RMAO...u berry berry nassy.
