Watch: Glenn Close as ‘Albert Nobbs’

It’s been a while since Glenn Close has had a true starring role on film, and even longer since she had a role worthy of her talent. But it looks like things may change for the five-time Oscar-nominated actress.

The first trailer has just been released for her long awaited passion project, “Albert Nobbs.” Close plays the title character, a 19th-century Englishwoman who poses as a man in order to work at a posh hotel in a male-dominated Ireland, but who is also desperate to leave behind "the false life she has created for herself."

Is it time for 'Family Guy' to end?

It doesn't sound like creator, writer and voice actor Seth MacFarlane would mind if "Family Guy," now in its 10th season, made an exit from primetime programming.

In an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, MacFarlane admits that he thinks his animated show could've wrapped up a few seasons back.

"Part of me thinks 'Family Guy' should have already ended," he says. "I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series. I talk to fans, and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say 'we're done with it.'"

Is baseball ruining your TV viewing life?

Just when "X Factor" viewers thought they were maybe going to see the inside of Paula Abdul's house, baseball got in the way.

A two-hour rain delay for Wednesday night's American League Championship game meant Simon Cowell and Co. got the boot from their 8 p.m. time slot. That canceled two-hour "X Factor" episode will now air tonight at 8 p.m. (unless there's a rain delay for tonight's game, but let's not focus on that for now).

To play catch-up, the episode intended to air tonight has been rescheduled for Sunday at 8 p.m....as long as there isn't a game seven. If everything goes according to plan, the third part of the "judges' home" round will air next Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.

Johnny Depp's 'Lone Ranger' back on

[Editor's Note: Larry King's one-on-one special with Johnny Depp airs October 16 at 8 p.m. ET.]

Disney halted production on their version of "The Lone Ranger" back in August, but Deadline reports that the movie is back on once again, aiming to start production in February of next year.

At the time, Disney told CNN that while they were stopping production on the project, which stars Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the titular cowboy, everyone involved was trying to reach an agreement on the next steps. Reports suggested that budget disagreements between Disney and "Lone Ranger's" producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski were causing the problem.

But it sounds like Depp never lost faith that the "Lone Ranger" would eventually ride into theaters.

Hilary Swank regrets attending Chechen leader's event

Hilary Swank and Jean-Claude Van Damme were two actors in attendance at Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov's 35th birthday party on October 5, but Swank says in a statement to CNN that she had no idea that's what she was attending.

Both the actress and Van Damme were criticized by human rights organizations for celebrating with Kadyrov, and asked to return any money or gifts they may have received.

However, a statement from Swank's publicist says that she wasn't there to attend a fete for the Chechen president but rather an "opening of a new residential and commercial complex in Grozny City, including the largest sports complex in southern Russia." The deciding factor for her to go was that the event "was described to her as a symbol of hope for the people of Chechnya," and that was a sentiment she wanted to support.

'Resident Evil' background actors injured on set

CNN can confirm that eleven background actors were hospitalized after an accident on the Toronto set of Sony/Screen Gems’ “Resident Evil: Retribution” Tuesday.

The actors were filming when they fell through a gap created when a four-foot high platform separated from the set at Cinespace Film Studios. According to Deadline, the 16 people who were injured in total were in costume as zombies.

“It is with regret that we confirm this unfortunate accident,” Davis Films/Impact Pictures and Constantin Film International said in a statement to CNN. “The thoughts of everyone involved in the production are with those who have been injured, and we hope that all have a quick and complete recovery. The filmmakers are continuing to work closely with the authorities in responding to this accident.”
