Posthumous Amy Winehouse album to be releasedAmy Winehouse's father Mitch has promised that there was a "great deal" more music from the singer to come following her death in July, and on Monday Winehouse's rep confirmed that a posthumous record is on the way. The 12-track listing for the U.K. album, titled "Lioness: Hidden Treasures," features alternate versions of songs you've heard before, new songs like Winehouse's duet with Tony Bennett, and unreleased tracks. A statement says that artists Salaam Remi and Mark Ronson worked closely with Winehouse's family, management and record label to craft the album, which will be released in the U.K. on December 5. While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Justin Bieber on his Christmas album, Selena GomezThanksgiving hasn't rolled around yet, but Justin Bieber is ready to get you in the holiday mood. The teen singer's Christmas album, "Under the Mistletoe," releases Tuesday, and he told CNN that it won't be your typical compilation of "Jingle Bells" renditions.
"It's got a lot of original songs that people have never heard before," Biebs said, "so it's going to be a really special Christmas album." Better yet, a portion of the proceeds from each album will go to charity. Ellen DeGeneres dishes on 'Idol' behind-the-scenesIt's not a secret that Ellen DeGeneres wasn't cut out for giving blunt critiques on Fox's "American Idol," but in a new interview with Parade magazine, she says there was more to her decision to leave the show. DeGeneres lasted as an "Idol" judge for only one season, partly because as a self-described sensitive person, she likes to be "around kind, gentle people," she tells Parade. "It was hard for me to judge people [on 'Idol'] and sometimes hurt their feelings," DeGeneres says. Things longer than Kim K's marriageKim Kardashian said it was a tough call to end her marriage to her now-estranged hubby Kris Humphries, but whatever the reason, it caused a lot of people to wonder: "What's longer than Kim Kardashian's marriage?" Well, for starters, we can refer to the gallery above, since all of those high-profile marriages outlasted Kim's 72 days of matrimony. They still ended up in the same place, though. But according to Twitter, here are a few other things:
Kim Kardashian files for divorceWell that didn't take long. Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband of 72 days, professional basketball player Kris Humphries, according to court documents from L.A. Superior Court. "After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage," Kardashian, 31, says in a statement. "I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision. I had hoped this marriage was forever but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best." Update, 5:40 p.m.: Kris Humphries says in a statement, "I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work." 'How to Make It In America': Here's to you, Mrs. GershonIt makes sense that an episode titled “Mofongo” would mix the various "How to Make It In America" plot lines into a TV dish that only an HBO dramedy could pull off. We learned last night that our favorite gangster turned aspiring CEO, Rene, wasn't doing so well. Despite the fact that the viral video of Wilfredo has the young kids going nuts, and the buzz for Rasta Monsta is growing, all Rene could think about was Debbie. She was still giving him the silent treatment after the whole fake diamonds fiasco from last week. Not even a trip to New Haven’s “second-best” strip club could take his mind off an aching heart. The scenes of the flawed, desperate Rene are my favorite. What's the verdict?: 'Allen Gregory'Fox's new half-hour animated comedy "Allen Gregory" is perfectly titled, because the series star, a beyond-precocious 7-year-old of the same name, is the reason to keep watching. The series, co-created by and starring actor Jonah Hill, made its debut Sunday ahead of another smart-mouthed kid, "Family Guy's" Stewie Griffin. The basic premise is that Allen Gregory's dad has fallen on hard times and needs his (maybe-straight) life partner Jeremy to get a job instead of home-schooling Allen Gregory. That means Allen. G (as we'll call him) has to brave the halls of public school, along with his adopted Cambodian sister, Julie (Joy Osmanski). A turning point for Shane on 'The Walking Dead'Sunday night's episode of "The Walking Dead" featured plenty of zombies in the first 15 minutes, for those who have been complaining that so far this season we're not seeing enough of them. It didn't quite pick up where we left off, with Shane and Otis (the man who accidentally shot Carl) cornered at a high school by a mob of walkers. Instead, we got Shane shaving his head in the bathroom, which might have been seen as a flashback if only because we've started with flashbacks in each episode this season. But then, it was a head shaving scene, so maybe not. All would be revealed in time as Shane and Otis continued to fight off the horde and attempted to get vital medical supplies back to Carl, whose condition continued to worsen. Lindsay Lohan shows off sparkling smileAfter her dental hygiene was called into question earlier this month, troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan is showing off a fresh set of pearly whites. The actress posted a photo to her WhoSay page of her sparkling smile over the weekend, along with a thank you note to her dentist: "Thanks Dr. Dorfman for the zoom... My gums are so sore though!" People reports Dr. Bill Dorfman is known for hooking up the grins of celebrities like Eva Longoria, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Simpson. If her tweet is any indication, LiLo had a teeth whitening procedure called Zoom, the magazine adds, which you may have seen used on "Extreme Makeover." But, just as Lindsay's rep pointed out earlier this month, dental drama is the least of the 25-year-old's concerns. The star violated her probation stemming from a necklace theft conviction earlier this month, and has been pulling shifts at a Los Angeles morgue ahead of a probation revocation hearing on Wednesday. |
