'Showbiz Tonight': Will MJ end up on trial instead of Conrad Murray?

Opening statements began today in the trial of Michael Jackson’s doctor Conrad Murray, and "Showbiz Tonight's" big question is whether Jackson will end up being on trial instead of Murray.

I think it is impossible to conceive that MJ’s history and behavior won’t be “on trial.” At the end of the day, though, the actions of Conrad Murray are what will matter.

The defense said today that Michael Jackson caused his own death while Dr. Murray was out of town and that Michael self-administered extra doses of propofol.

"There was no CPR, no doctor, no paramedic, no machine that was going to revive Michael Jackson," Murray's defense attorney Ed Chernoff said. "He died so rapidly, so instantly, he didn’t even have time to close his eyes."

What do you think? Will Michael Jackson end up on trial instead of Conrad Murray? Tell me below.

Tune in to "Showbiz Tonight" for the latest in the trial over the death of Michael Jackson at 11 p.m. ET on HLN.

I do not understand the defense? In there panic to get witinesses to match that which the prosc. had, what are they doing-seems to me they are further hanging thier client!
MJ if everyone pay attention, as hard as it is, was deemed to have a problem with drugs, according froom his own words, years ago. My way of seeing it , so what, the end result is that the DOC was responsible to tke care of MJ for a large amount of money! There is no way but to repeat onself over and over-Dr. Murray was his doctor at the time of his death, therefor he is responsible--PERIOD!

How would u like to be the one up there---D-defense-give her a break, she has not a thing to do with what Dr. Murray has done!! Now Dr. Murray u get on the stand and go through what all the defendants went through to deface MJ--Eveyone that has anyting to d with MJ has given interviews, maybe not fpr the money but to give MJ fair face to his public-–time to quit defense hurting people that are not on trail including MJ!!!

She is just a nursh that is into health products-not a doctor-give her a break, not her fault that she got mixed up with MJ and when she did she was most likly in awe to be involved with MJ--she is in no way able to get the drug that MJ wanted. Now she is so nervous and upset at being involved that it is hard for her to keep everything straight!
True MJ wanted something that really worked to keep him asleep and found ont that worked, so he keep up till he could find someone tht would give him what he wanted. Great, for the practioneers that could, or would not give it to him--Dr. Murray did give it to him, in big supply-so who is responsable for his overdose?? Who was on was
on watch at the time of MJ's death--not any of the docs or nurshes questioned-so why should they have to go through this-–'the Defense Case"-I rest my case"!!!!

I agree with u all. True MJ knew what he was taking and no one shoved it down his throat--but he got it from a Doctor and any doc would know just looking at MJ that he was into drugs or something that needed attention, but there are to manydoctors out there that just give the pills, either to keep them in the business or they are not able to get certified-Dr. Murray was not board certifide. How many of you out there found a doctor that would supply your need?

No wonder the defense lawyer has not really shown his face since now-he is a jerk–certainly evident that he is new in his profession! Most certainly he knows very little about ??? A defense lawyer????
The state is done, what a good case they presented if it is really needed to prove that Dr. Murray is guilty!!! He is so quilty if for nothing else, he was paid to be MJ's travel doc-Will he get paid for his time?
There are to many Doctors out there that are "pill docs", they should be stoped!

Defense is lost on this Dr. Shafer-He is to smart-tells it like it is--Dr. Conrad let MJ die on his call-Time to pay the piper-even if the jury somehow comes back with not guilty--he will pay–loose his license–money-family-all that MJ lost, except Dr. Murray will have to live with it the rest of his time on earth and MJ will be watching him from a far better place!

Oh My god the recording on the drug is powerful, did not realize that a person after given the drug stops breathing right away--apparently neither did Dr. M-shouldn't mess around with drugs u know nothing about? Hard to believe that MJ was given P for months with no effect????

I heard that and right away I knew this Doc,Shafer, would hit home with the jury-"Not getting paid" to show all his patients, that ask before being put out, " is that the drug that killed MJ"? Wow one more for the prosicutiion!
Will Doctor White, for the defense be able to say that?, unless of course they were listening and change his status--its all about honesty! Let us see how this day comes out, will this witness be as good as Dr. Mcdreamy? Better if you really listen!

Look at the facks–Dr.Murry was the doc that was MJ's Doc at the time he died, and is responsible for not being there to possibly save him. No matter what drugs he was taking or how many doctors that he went to, Dr. Murry was the doctor that was with him and aidded to his death!

Michael was self destructing before he met Conrad Murray. If he hadn't gotted the drugs from Murray, it would have been someone else. I do not believe Murray is responsible for Michael's death.

It is clear that MJ had an addiction problem that he himself stated began when he was burned during the Pepsi commercial. However, Murray is a doctor. If he wasn't so money crazed he would have intervened and told AEG that Michael can in no way do this concert. If Michael insisted to continue rehearsals, and rejected going to rehab, Murray should have quit. Plain and simple. Prior to Murray there was a nurse that saw MJ a few times when he MJ called and asked her for Diprivan. She knew that Diprivan (Propafal) is meant for a hospital or clinic setting and was not a sleep aid for insomnia. She explained the dangers to MJ and she straight up told him that she will not do that! Murray is a money hungry quack who I wouldn't even let him treat my dog.

What i despise more than anything, is that I have to watch the face of Jane Velez talking about the Conrad Murray, Michael Jackson trial. This woman is a joke! She rake Mr. Jackson over the coals when he was involved in the child molestation trials. ASHE IS A DISGRACE!!!

I am a retired teacher and former EMT with life squad experience. From my perspective, it seems that all the prosecution against Dr. Murray has to do in order to prove negligent homicide is to prove that he left Michael Jackson alone in such a state with access to the drugs he craved and that he attempted to perform CPR on a soft surface (a bed). It seems academic to me whether or not he administered the lethal dose if the other two factors were present. I cannot fathom how a doctor could do either of these things–much less both.

Many persons die with the eyes opened... for centuries this happened. Include my mom and I`m sure she didn`t ever use propofol. How opened eyes could prove something? What a cloud!

I don't think we will be seeing MJ on trial anywhere but the media and comment sections. I expect the prosecution and defense won't stoop so low as to avoid alienating the jury, but then again, I've been let down by humanity before.

Dr Murray may be the source of the drugs, but Michael Jackson WAS a drug addict, and he took the drugs according to his own desires for it. The doctor didn't shove it down his throat. He wouldn't even listen to his own family as they tried to get him to stop through some sort of intervention. Others didn't even try because they said Michael wouldn't talk to you anymore if you did try to get him to stop. I read this during time of his death. Does anyone really think short of putting Michael in a hospital that he would stop drugs on his own? This is an accidental suicide by Michael, not manslaughter.

babaloo Sue It seems to me you have read mainstream media reports and nothing but...did you perchance take a look at the autopsy report? No one who is a drug addict would have an autopsy report like this: all his organs were healthy except for a chronic low grade lung inflammation problem; his liver was healthy and normal for his age. If he had been a chronic drug user or even a recent addict, this simply wouldn't be true. Add to this that NO DRUGS were found in his blood stream that were not administered by Dr. Murray, no traces of any other drugs than the ones currently administered. Does that give you some food for thought? I hope so. I am so tired of the media choosing to portray this man so negatively, when in fact there is equal or greater testimony to his health, given by reputable sources. Good news doesn't sell; bad news, scandal, and lies do. Anything for money. Sheeple wake up.

Truer words were never spoken!!! Thank You. Michael is no longer with us maybe they will leave him alone now and let him take his place in music history as "king of pop". I believe as long as he was alive people wouldn't leave him alone. Anyone who listens to hia song "have you seen my childhood" would understand he was a child who never grew up.No one can deny there will never be another talent like him. He was a kind generous man that was unique.
He will be missed! It hurts to think no more MJ talent.
