With one eye on the clock, celebrity supporters of Troy Davis are using their platforms to continue to spread the word about the Georgia inmate.
Davis is scheduled to be executed at 7 p.m. for the 1989 murder of off-duty Savannah, Georgia, police officer Mark MacPhail. [Keep up with the latest developments over at This Just In.]
Hip-hop artist Big Boi is one of many who has used his fame to bring awareness to the case, and departed for the prison in Jackson, Georgia, earlier today. "Troy Davis is from my home town of Savannah Ga, and personally reached out to me," the rapper tweeted Tuesday along with the hashtags "#FreeTroyDavis" and "#TooMuchDoubt." "6 hours and 14 minutes to fight, #meetmeinjackson Georgia for a 100% peaceful rally," he wrote Wednesday.
Lupe Fiasco addressed the controversy during a concert Tuesday while performing his hit, "Superstar," in Atlanta. "Unstrap him from the chair, put Troy back in his cage...Unstrap him from the chair, put Troy back in the A," Fiasco said, slightly altering the song's lyrics, as the crowd cheered.
Sean Diddy Combs, Gabrielle Union, Kimora Lee Simmons, Questlove of the Roots and reality stars Toya Wright and Kim Kardashian have also spoken up about Davis on their Twitter feeds, with some retweeting a link to a Global Grind post discussing the issue. "There is #TooMuchDoubt to kill Troy Davis," the tweets read, along with a link to the post. Combs has also instructed his 4 million followers to call "Attorney General Eric Holder" to "urge him to intercede on Troy Davis" and listed the phone number to call.
Russell Simmons has been working his Twitter account as well, reaching out to fellow celebs Katy Perry and Kanye West, encouraging them to read up on Davis' situation. The industry exec offered to purchase the "Troy Davis" trending topic to further spread the word ("Who Is Troy Davis" has been trending for much of Wednesday). "My prayers are with the family of Troy and the family of Officer MacPhail. #TooMuchDoubt," he wrote Wednesday.
Actress and comedian Sandra Bernhard has joined in, asking her followers to take it directly to the top: "#URGENT #WHOISTROYDAVIS #p2 CALL @BARACKOBAMA to -speak up- for #troydavis" she wrote Wednesday afternoon.
Atlanta based group The Indigo Girls have been steadily raising awareness for the cause on their Twitter account as well.
Toure brought up an interesting question to the furious Twitter activity, writing, "I care about Troy Davis. I don't want the brother to be executed. But I don't think tweeting about him will save his life." He continued that he wasn't asking for others to cease the tweets, but rather that "It's not really about Troy Davis so much as overestimating the power of Twitter."
What do you think? This social media tool in particular has become the most immediate way for a celebrity to either confirm or deny rumors, expound on a situation in the press and to offer their personal views on what's happening in the world.
In a situation such as this, what do you think the impact is of a celebrity raising awareness on a topic by communicating it with their millions of followers?

Such a miscarriage of justice. Reggie Clemons out of St. Louis, MO is also on Death Row, He has a hearing coming up March 5, 2012. The twist in this case is that the charges that were used to convict him of murder were later dropped but he is still sitting on death row. This his 20th year.
You can learn more about the case at: http://www.freereggieclemonsnow.blog.com.
I am still in shock at the type of response people are giving to this situation, yes he had his appeals and he had his many attempts at court but everyone also has a right to a fair and righteous trial. Unreliable and recanted eye witness testimony should not be enough to put a man to death. An eye for an eye should not be what justifies crimes. I am not saying he wasn't involved, the law is blind right? I just find it so hard to believe that people aren't more scared that our justice system can let something like this slide.

Agreed Shocking and in a following to your diatribe...PHUCK YOU IN THE BUTTHOLE!
Well well seems The Ultimate Failure – Jimmy Carter had to weigh in with his 2 cents and of course he is against the death penalty.
Rule of thumb. Whatever way Carter leans on any issue you can bet the opposite leaning is correct. Carter is a phuckin fool.
To all our European friend, Amnesty International and others who should stick to minding their own busines, A HEARTY and HEART FELT PHUCK YOU ALL!!
Way to go Celebs...you really came through for him. SHMUCKS! Did you really think anyone cares what you think or how you feel about a persons innocence or guilt? Stop deluding yourselves you overpaid morons. Do what you are good at and keep your ill informed mouths shut about things like this and politics.
If the man had been acquitted and then some jurors changed their minds or witnesses went away, the case could not be heard aain. So it is with a guilty verdict - there was no new proof or evidence offered; after 20 years some jurors changed their mind, and some witnesses weren't around - so what!! 20 years ago he was found guilty; he was in the wrong place, wrong time, wrong friends, wrong weapons. A young police officer died by the hand of this man and his partner. He lived 22 more years than the policeman. And just because some celebs found a cause is no reason for the court to change its sentence.
This should be an example for all young folks - watch who you associate with and what your actions are - they do come back to bite you in the ass.
Niqqa dead, das it.
Wow you mean the Indigo Girls couldn't stop this?!
The indigo idiots werent concerned because they were too busy sucking maggotSHYT from one anothers Coo~terHoles.
Where were all these supporters the past 18 years while he was rotting in jail on death row? They only wait until the punishment, that he was given long, long ago, was about to happen to crawl out of the woodwork in "support". If they really, genuninely CARED about HIM they would have been protesting right from the start. If all the people crying and complaining were so certain he was innocent, wasn't rotting in jail the rest of his life an "injustice" too? Shouldnt they have been chanting, protesting, crying, etc this entire time???
i'm sure these celebrities were just as active in protesting the execution of James Byrd's murderer, right?
How about the cop's blood on the killer's clothes? Hmm, how'd that get there? Maybe the blood splashed on him when he blasted a shot to the cop's face at point blank range! You liberal pacifist bleeding hearts all deserve to die at the hands of black skum like this, on a dark street. This animal should have been put down immediately.
What proof did they have of his guilt? Witnesses? Video camera since it happened inside a store? I'm for the death penalty **IF** there is 200% proof of their crime. But if there's ONE single edge of doubt, then no, there shouldn't be an execution. I also think it's wrong to keep giving them a stay of execution, not once, but twice! Putting someone through that is torture. Either SH_T or get of the pot! I don't think I've ever heard of a case when the gave them a stay of execution, and it wasn't carried out. So they seem pointless and cruel.
Celebrities please...these people think they are above everything and their opinion matters. I have stopped going to movies, I do not buy music and I limit my TV time. I am raising my grandson and we read, ride bikes, go to museums, and prepare for college and to get out of America because Obama and immigrants, muslim, mexicans, etc. have absolutely ruined it and it will continue until America is another country like mexico, etc. A police office is dead because of this piece of trash and they think troy needs justice. Please what about the police officer .... you people make me sick. Stop listening to their music, stop going to movies, stop....see how long their opinion matters when they are just like us struggling.
I protested this travesty by leaving a big steamy pile of buttSquirts in my neighbors driveway.
I guess this shows how much clout these so-called celebs really have...NONE, he's dead!
PLEASE. These celebtards are pathetic. Troy Davis has been on death row SINCE 1991! I don't recall any of them ever mentioning his name before his impending execution became front-page news. The eyewitness testimony may have been sketchy, but bullets from the crime scene were linked to a gun Davis had used in another shooting (of which he was convicted) the same day. An evidentiary hearing for appeal in Davis' case WAS ordered US Supreme Court in 2009, the US district court didn't find enough evidence at that hearing and upheld his conviction and upheld his conviction. The off duty policeman that he killed had a 2 year old and a newborn at home. He was shot in the chest, and then at close range in the face. He never drew his gun.
Coombs wants Holder to intercede. LMAO...Im not sure which is more stupid, coombs or holder.
Big Boi, Kim K, Lupe F, ConYea...all stupid pieces of dog manure. Oh my the tweet community is all up in arms. *POOT* <-for the celebs and troy.
Rappers and troy davis are maggotSHYT.
HEP ME!! It be HOT down here.
Atleast the maggots, worms and roaches have a nice fresh meal!!
Maybe this will finally make "celebraties" realize no one cares what they believe, just because they can act, sing or dance doesn't mean they acturally have any brains! For the most part, they can't even run their own lives!
Mr Davis is in hell right now shaking hands with MLK as they both cry out "WAYZ DUH WHITE WIMINZ"
For troy last meal I would like to serve him up a hot steamy plate of my fresh smelly doo doo. You know troy a true lover of doo doo eating.
Atleast we dont have to waste our tax dollars any long on troy and that makes me happy.
Now that the media attention is fading so will the blacks as they only "care" when the television cameras are rolling. Then they jump up and down screaming "Ooga booga" and other jiveSHYT when the little red light comes on.
Afterwards, they disband with many going to Colonel Sanders for some fried chicken and hot sauce. Others go back to robbin licka stoes and still others go back to being lazy good for nothings they are.
The bottom line to all of this is that of the thousands (hundreds of thousands? millions?) of people that spoke out on one side or the other of this argument, only a few have either taken the time or had the ability to get to know all the "facts" in this case. This tragedy (the murder and the trail) has played out over the course of 22 years. During that time, both brilliant and ignorant people alike in our legal system have been asked to review the evidence and judge his guilt or innocence. They came to a guilty verdict and supported it throughout the process. Public outrage due to mass media and celebrity support doesn't make this a travesty of justice. If someone in the legal process had been convinced that a reasonable doubt existed, the outcome would have been different. I feel for both families and pray that justice was truly served, but only a handful of people will ever know for sure...
Davis had his day in court and now he has had last meal and last day. Lets all be thankful that our tax dollars will no longer be spent on this piece of human excrement.
The 2 black men on the pardon/parole board apparently have more brain power than that of all these mollycoddling buttWipers combined who were stating "doubt this and doubt that." Well tough SHYT.
And all these celebs and liberal idiots crying out for poor troy/boy can go strait to hell. F EM ALL!!
Remember blackee. Just because you say it doesnt make it so.
To further add to my last message, I can't believe the racism from some people on here. In particular bell ends like Disgusted white guy. There is still a huge amount of racism kicking around when you read all the above. For people to compare the two death sentences carried out yesterday as a white guy and a black guy is a poorly educated opinion. I'm happy that plenty of school drop outs have the internet and a computer and can voice their opinion on here but if it's racist or misguided you don't deserve a platform to speak on.
The only ones who think he was innocent are blacks and self-hating whites who think it's cool to side with the black community. Let's kill Mumia next!
Hollywood is full of liberal do-gooders. I guess Mumia is innocent too, huh? California truly needs to go into the sea. It was Davis' gun, Davis' shell casings at the scene, but he didn't do it. So who did, Troy? Oh, that's right, you can't talk, you're DEAD! Ha ha ha skumbag. The only good n is a dead n.
I can't believe that the death penalty still exists in the US, why is it ok in some states to put someone to death but highly immoral in other states to do so? It just seems backward that if they have continually exonerated people on death row over the years after finding their innocence then why does it still continue.
Reading some of these comments on here saying that this bloke deserved to die is rubbish. Your quick to say that his peers (jury) found him guilty, well his peers and obviously the majority of America voted for George Bush Jr and that probably wasn't the best decision in hindsight. So just because the majority of people make a decision doesn't mean that it's the right one.
Thankfully, it is no longer an issue and brings a bit of closure to the police officer's family.
Didn't see anyone demonstrating to free Lawrence Russell Brewer, the white man just executed in Texas for killing a black man.
Celebrities huh? After reading the list in this article I beg to differ. Most on this list would do well to pass their GED.
if the 2 cry babies[hugging] were so upset over the exacution, why didnt they volenteer to take his place....which makes as much sense as all these pr hungery "celebs" supporting a convicted killer..
another drain on the tax dollar gone.....1 in ga,and 1 in tx.
The only relationship between rappers and Troy Davis is that they both live a very short life-span. Other than that, having rappers gather to make appeal for your life is like standing in water and having them pass you a live wire.
Well if they allowed rappers to appear and make an appeal, it did nothing more than expedite his plunge toward execution. I have to laugh whenever I hear about rappers coming to the aid of someone. The music industry has made nothing but send-outs of these bunch of street thug and their own personal lives are nothing but a mixture of guns and gang-related activities, which is why they all have such a brief life-span. They have no talent and obviously no persuasion.
Troy Davis killed a police officer and he was ultimately executed for it. No conspiracy, no mistake. He's history.
Funny thing about this? People who scream the loudest are usually the guilty ones. Myself personally, I'm tired of all this stuff, and as for celebrities? they need to go somewhere, last person I want in my corner is Kim K, funny thing about her to think about it...someone said OJ and Casey went free...she cried outrage over Casey's trial but is standing up saying Troy Davis is not guilty?
I'll not say this is about racisim, but if Troy Davis was a white man I'm sure that Rev Al, Puffy,Kim K, Big Boi, Sandra Bernheart, and everyone else would not be stepping up to the plate. Matter of fact, I didn't see one person of any kind of fame step up during the Casey anthony case.
The protesters needed to act tough and force themselves into the penitentiary to stop his execution just like whats happening in the Arab uprising regardless the extent of force being but people are still taking it to the street ......If police open fired at protesters they would have been next in the line scheduled to die and only maximum force police are allowed to use is pushing away protesters during the course of the sentence. If the number of supporters for Troy Davis had been greater than security forces it would force the state to commute the death sentence and he would have lived. I am worried about the fact that the people have given the government the power to decide the life and death of a person. In the US leaders justify the death penalty as the ultimate justice but in fact its the ultimate irreversible punishment.
Why come up for the murderer and not the murdered and his family?
CRIMINALS SUPPORTING CRIMINALS!
Sure they're right; NOT!
America... We in Europe and the rest of the world can only view the US as a time portal set in reverse. Americans speak of setting the standard, but political correctness has been the scourge of civil harmony among Americans. One race uses the guise of oppression to shovel dirt over another race that is striving to put everything in the past and just move forward.
The day a 'rapper' is considered as the voice of America, is the day that America should seek therapy. It's all about race... and America is losing in a big way.
What is ironic, and sad, is that there is another story on CNN right now about a white guy being executed for murder. No celebs opened their voice for him. No one is crying over his body. No one is crying racism or reverse racism. He was quietly executed and the story won't be marketable tomorrow. But a black guy? OMG, it couldn't ever be possible for him to be guilty! Has to be because he is black.
Lolz at Kim Karcrashian trying to save another black kock so she can put in her cavernous vadge later...
I guess these "celebrities" didn't quite have the pull of the Memphis 3 celebrities...
Kim Kardashian? Well, her father helped get the murderer O. J. off, so guess it runs in the family.
This guy was guilty beyond a doubt and they proved that 22 times. It's funny when peace lovers say "what if it was you"? You mean, running the streets, committing crimes, getting caught with the blood of a murder victim I just shot all over my shorts then and admitted I did so. Naw, sorry not me. But it makes me wonder what kind of life his supporters live.
Since Davis's conviction, seven of nine witnesses have changed or recanted their testimony, some have said they were coerced by police to testify against him and some say another man committed the crime.
No physical evidence linked Davis to the killing.
Except the dead cop's blood on this criminal's clothes. What a jackhole you are. Get the facts, then come back and post. Oh, that's right, you people don't care about facts. He's black, so he must be innocent because 300 years ago the white man had slaves. Racist.
HEY CNN why no coverage on #occupywallstreet #OWS #takewallstreet ????????? Lupe Fiasco is already down there. Readers find out for yourselves!!! The revolution will be tweeted. The whole world is watching.
All this damn ignorance in this country is too f@/'king much. Black this , rappers that, celebs are this, the black guy was an ape comment, the comment about Al Sharpton, comments about Obama. Most of you are using this forum to send hateful messages, its no wonder the country is dealing with so much and is shot to hell. Too much negative BS !!!
Waiting for the two bafoons, Sharpton and Jackson to run with this
One less murdering monkey.
It's a start.
Kim Kardashian. REALLY?!? Like, OMG n stuff! She's like, the only like, ya know, maybe the like, biggest retard! *GIGGLE GIGGLE!* Maybe like, we should like, figure out like, why it is she's like, even allowed to speak out loud n stuff!
Hell, if that queen ditz even bothered to speak in support of me for any reason I'd BEG for lethal injection if only based on principle.
DEATH PENALTY is the problem. I applaud the Mississippi black folks (Anderson Family) for writing a letter to the courts that they will NOT be seeking the death penalty for Jared.
There is a special king of anointing and divine reward that comes to them for that gesture and i pray we all renew our minds.
Its one thing to get Justice served, its another to believe OR depend on the death of Troy to make it right for the Michail folks. I believe they they would have gotten more comfort for being magnanimous............Bless Y'all
Amazing how all of the celebrity trash come out to support the convicted murderer. Perhaps Troy Davis was a drug mule for those pukes back in the day.
I would hope with all of my being that resources will be dedicated to a much deserved "Wrongful Death" suit towards the prosecutors in the Troy Davis case. "to late for admission of evidence" by the prosecutors... What is that? there is no statute of limitations on criminal prosecution. Why is there limitations on evidence that potentially proves innocence? It is both illogical and immoral.
Why have a Supreme Court? Why not let celebrities decide court cases? Apparently CNN thinks celebrity opinions have special status..
Opps.... My Bad. I thought they said celebrities, not a bunch of punks and thugs. I'll try and read closer next time to avoid reading mindless drivel from people who nothing of the case at hand.
What do artists, singers or actors know about justice in the society? Do they have high school diplomas? They usually wreck their lives with addictions and scandals. Americans are stupid to listen to their opinions. Everyone needs to study things properly.
I just looked at Kardashian's Twiiter feed.Following her " tweets" on the murderer, here are a few gems...Happy Armenian Day, I just had a hot dog and and a Mr softy and have a "Tummy ache" and the tweet one hour before her final genius on the cop killer is "Hair braids in Bora Bora!" Is it POSSIBLE that someone is THIS vapid, self important and shallow. What a complete and utter fool. Absolutely zero sincerity. And HEY Kardashian..leave the Armenians out of your malignant narcissism. You are an embarrassment, to be kind.
Celebs should get at least proper high school diploma( not purchased but earned) with a grade 12 level Social Studies before they rally for anything. They rally for wrong or stupid reasons a lot.
And now that it's done, the celebs will go back to their own little world until the next "cause" that suits their purpose comes along and they can play the concerned famous person.
I find it really bizarre, that given the very long history of shortcomings of the christian/judeo principles of jurisprudence, that people still actually take this process seriously.
lemma guess the person is black and there are a bunch of black celebrities sticking up for him. Just a hunch that is all. Hey rapper word of advice, when your give a shout out to your hommies incarcerated, give them a shout out to not be stupid and commit crimes
Rap "artist" are just a bunch of criminals themselves, a bunch of monkeys that need to be caged.
If Kim Kardashian couldn't save him then no one could. I wonder if all these hip hop hipsters would rally to save an Italian American man........
They sure were quiet about Texas executing Lawrence Brewer tonight. Brewer insisted that he was innocent too!
Oh, wait, Brewer was White and murdered a Black man.
Wow...no wonder why America seems so vulnerable to other Nations...We cant come together within our own. It's really sad and scary..
...that's crap. Whether or not people agree has nothing to do with the country ... it has to do with being human and being individuals. Supporting the DP for a murderer doesn't make our country vulnerable ... it makes free. Get a better argument.
Just another instance of celebrities getting involved somewhere that they shouldn't. This guy was obviously guilty and got what he deserved. If you are stupid enough to believe that in this day of having a black president that if a truly innocent black man was about to be murdered that the federal government wouldn't step in, then you have other issues. The evidence was there to convict and uphold that conviction. Just because a bunch of celebrities that never took the time to actually look at the evidence claim he was innocent does not make it so. I wonder if any of them would have been cool with him moving in with them since he was so innocent. That is the day I make actually listen to what a celebrity has to say in a criminal case, when they are comfortable enough to move the person into their million dollar mansion to live with them. Until that time, just keep your mouth shut and try to entertain people, you don't belong in the arena of criminal justice decisions.
You bleeding-heart libturds make me sick.
So what I take from this is....Don't kill people. Actions prompt reactions.
Georgia prejudice that nothing new! They been like that before the beginning of time.come to texas when you have to put up with rick perry and bush jr...
I nor you have no idea what Mr. DAvis was thinking if and when he shot the cop. Neither of us were there. Several of the witnesses say they were there BUT they're not so sure now...My point is that, your reference to blacks pulling the "race card" as an escape goat in so many words is Ludicrous. It's not. it's our history. the pain of generations trickle down and although you may not know how that feels or can even relate....it is real. So just because you cant relate to us...doesnt mean we dont have valid points. yes he was proven guilty and if he commited the crimes...he's paid his debt BUT our justice system is flawed, we've seen that in the Anthony case. I dont know if he's guilty or not but there is a reason that I will lobby for him and not Dameon Echols...There was doubt in the Davis case. But it doesnt matter now. He's gone. Bottom line.
drop the race card is always the black mans excuse
lame lame and lame
time to suck it up and accept reality
@It Is What It Is Somehow America has forgotten that many INNOCENT African Americans were killed, executed for their color alone. This may not have been the case with Mr. Davis but I dont recall seeing multiple caucasions hanging from trees by ropes just because they were white. It's true that blacks kill blacks and yes, with a lot of the violence that goes on amongst the Black community....I can understand why you have this bitter taste in your mouth. But lets not forget the history of America. My heart goes out to the family of the cop as well as Mr. Davis' family. No one has said anything blatantly disrespectful towards the cop and his family because he was innocent. So lets show some respect for Mr. Davis' family during their time of grieving...
...Uhhh, respectfully I would have to say that Mr. Davis wasn't thinking about any of that history when he shot that cop. While I have a great deal of sadness for what the black race had to endure – it simply doesn't have a place at this particular table. IMO Mr. Davis got what was just and it should have been carried out earlier. To your point about his family, I feel great sorrow for them. It is too bad that Mr. Davis did not consider what his actions who do to them when he chose to murder another.
...all I am saying is that I don't see where race played a role in any of this. He was convicted by a jury of his peers. Appeal and appeal failed. As to the recantations; the judges that have released opinions on that state the portions of testimony that were recanted and/or changed were insignificant OR the recantation wasn't believable. Yes I agree our systems has flaws but I also believe the impacts of those flaws are spread across a diverse minute population. The history of racism to black people is a travesty and we should all learn from it. Supporting the over turning of a conviction based on race - is also racism.
give it a break!
the race card is an uneducated persons cop out
problem with ur way of thinking(and probably most black people) is u portray urselves as victims
u r not!
maybe ur parents were
but u are not
quit blaming others for ur failures
black people r so ready to accept and promote rap music (it is not music) but not willing to accept one of the simplest lessons life teaches us--action + reaction
u kill someone-–expect to fry
dont blame others for ur stupidity and ignorance
i am native indian
my dad was physically, mentally abused by the church as a kid
ive had countless relatives die from alcohol and drug abuse(more than any black person will ever experience in their lifetimes!)
i dont blame anyone
that was their burden
over 50 million native indians have been killed over the centuries in the usa
it is not my battle
let the past be what it is-the past
blame others for ur failures-u fail
use the race card-u have failed before saying another word
@ Sam, not once did I say that race played a card in Mr. Davis' execution. My reference to race was in response to "It IS What IT Is'" Comments. I understand that you are quick to jump in and point the finger but please follow the conversation accurately before judging my character. I am looking at the case alone. The Prosecution didnt have an overwhelming case in opinion. I dont use excuses, I'm a productive citizen. I do however know FACTS about the history of America and the history of several in my family. Again, how would you all even begin to relate. Everyone doesnt use the race card as a cop out, some abuse it but it still exists. Again, it's not ludicrous.
Oh I feel so sorry for all these bleeding hearts when criminals are found guilty of their crime. What about the victim(s) and their family? Do the bleeding hearts care about them? Do they come to their aid and lend their names to these families? HELL NO! Maybe all the bleeding hearts should adopt all the killers and let them live in their homes, then we'll see what happens to them. Hooray for executions. We need more of them.
I could not agree more, and it shouldn't take 20 years to carry out the DP either .. decide then do. And yes, it seems the victims are always forgotten. So sad.
No one is saying that the victim's family is not suffering but I don't think killing an innocent man is going to make things better
@ Jacob - in this case, the only innocent man that was killed was the Police officer.
You seem to have it all figured out. You swear he's guilty and he got what he deserved why? because the court decided he was guilty. In this day and age don't be so naive to think that people can't make mistakes. That juries and judges don't make mistakes.
I fully acknowledge that there are flaws & mistakes in our justice system. I believe he is guilty b/c a jury and 20 yrs worth of appeals say so. Not to mention testimony, evidence and common sense. The question here is why are you so dead set sure he's innocent? The judges state the recantations were either insignificant and/or unbelievable. I have read, listened and watched everything I could to come to my opinion and feel he is guilty. Justice served.
There have been cases where after a person has been exexuted , 10 or 20 years later investigators find out that the person was innocent all along. What? you don't think people in cases like those appeal over and over again and that there aren't hundreds and hundreds of testimonies that judges listen to it but yet they still get executed nontheless.
....like I said, our system isn't flawless. Let me ask you this, are you just as familiar with the cases where a truly guilty person got the DP? NO system will ever be perfect but I do believe ours in one of the best.
I don't care what any celebrity has to say about anything. That is part of the problem in our society now. They use their status or popularity to push issues they usually have no clue about, or not all of the facts and only heresay. He was tried and convicted according to the laws of Georgia and after endless appeals the verdict was upheld. It gets old to constantly throw out the race card about every single thing that happens to a black person.
well said. after all , when was the last time someone said "..he was only convicted because he was white..."
the only reason you think celebrities (in this case) have the "facts" wrong is because their opinions so happens to disagree with yours
....NONE of those celebrities sat on the jury and NONE of those celebrities sat in the appeal process. The celebrities have their facts wrong b/c they oppose the decision that justice reached. It is unfair for you to assume WHY someone else reaches an opinion.
You didn't sit on a jury either. Justice isn't derived on facts. If it was we would all know what happened and it would be a slam dunk case. There wouldn't be any controversy now would there ,but here's a fact : SEVEN OUT OF THE NINE KEY WITNESSES later disputed all parts of their testimony. Now you tell me is that something you can run on when determining a fate of a man
Jacob, respectfully, you need to check your facts. Those 7 witnesses did not recant ALL of their testimony. The judges who have released statements on those recantations state that the portions that were recanted were either insignificant and/or the recantation wasn't believable. I respect your opinion but mine remains that he was guilty and deserved the DP.
If there is a possibility that the judge found there recantations to be not believable then how can you believe their original testimonies or better yet believe them at all
I would have to go with what was testified at the time closer to the actual event. To come out 17 yrs later and say, oh I don't remember it that way now holds less water in my opinion. It reeks of either peer, political or lobbyist pressure. Don't be naive. I have not heard, read or watched anything that would lead me to believe he was innocent.
What if it's the other way around. What if someone pressured them to give those original testimonies. Then what?
Jacob, he wasn't convicted on just those 7 testimonies alone. Quite the opposite. I suggest you go read the judges opinions and you'll see that there was more than enough other evidence to reach this same guilty verdict. You can play the "If" game all want but you have yet to cite one valid reason for believing he is innocent. Are you just so anti-DP that you can see this case clearly? What if he didn't get DP but got life - would you feel differently about this case?
Not surprising this form of justice exists in the south. Education is rare for most of them.So ofcourse none of them understand something as simple as truth and lie and evidence.
Does it really even matter now? Troy is dead. Let God sort out who was right and who was wrong. Either way it is out of the hands of mortal men.
he's dead now. Let God sort it out who was right or wrong. Well that didn't stop you from writing him guilty
Has anyone innocent ever been put to death in the United States of America?
Then not one more person should be executed, ever, in the United States of America.
Has an innocent person ever been imprisoned in the US? Then no one should ever be imprisoned!
Has an innocent person ever been arrested in the US? Then no one should ever be arrested!
Markiejoe is really a very stupid little boy. I've tried to educate him, but he just won't listen.
So what if he was actually guilty? They all just cheered on a cop killer....
I feel bad if we wasn't actually guilty but I'm just saying....
I guess it doesn't matter anymore, he has been executed.
Historically speaking, it's extremely rare for a celebrity to know what the hell they're talking about. They pick causes like they pick their noses, anything that gets their name in print is free publicity. What's the common thread among the names of the celebrities who chose to pick this cause? Not one of them is known to be especially intelligent. I read the details of the case, and have no doubt the man deserved the death penalty. I guarantee, most of the celebrities who picked this cause to further their own celebrity either haven't read the details of the case, or cannot read.
well i guess the rep. of georgia is also uneducated too then right!
I would have to agree. Besides, who would back anything Kim Kardashian supports? That like walking up to Osama bin Laden (when he was alive) and saying "I'm right there with ya' man." Pure stupidity.
makes alot of sense saint but you're forgetting one thing Davis is innocent
wow so i hear that he was convicted....well convicted based on lies but who cares right. Honestly people made up their minds long time ago without even listening to facts.
I live in Georgia and it a very racist state.Troy Davis we love you.
It a sad day across the world
I agree. Georgia has serious problems still with racism (white on black and black on white). This does not refute the fact that a black man was guilty of killing a white man and has now been put to death for his actions.
Saying that "if he were white it would be different" is a tired song. OJ walked out. He is black. End of story.
Agree!! If he were white and he killed this cop & former armed forces member then he still should have received the DP. Mr. Davis' race means nothing to me in this decision. He murdered ... we got rid of him for that... he won't get to kill another cop.
OJ walked for a different reason. The prosecution in that case did a real poor job. They made him wear the glove to see if it fit his hands. The glove by the way was soaked in blood and when it dried it shrunk so it no longer fit his hands
black man gets put to death = blacks up in arms. Racism is present in this country, it's just not the traditional way the media likes to portray
Thanks Mzmiche. I will rest better now.....
Imagine having a death sentence pending and having P Diddy and Kim Kardashian supporting you.....
Tis the south.

..........seriously??? you really feel this is the forum for that? ...lol
All of us in america are not rabid senseless killing animals. Some of us wants to be sure they got the right person. Without a shadow of doubt. Thats what we're supposed to represent.
multiple courts reviewed it and agree he is guilty .. read the case and appeals .. there is no ohter conclusion that can be drawn. He shot one man in the face earlier, shot the cop, after he fell he walked up and shot him again .. taking him from his children. You side with this. Read the facts, you should be sickened by yourself and you comments here.
hey celebs, read the actual case and appeals. You stand with man that shot this father and when he fell, walked up and shot him again .. that is your hero. he shot another man in the face earlier, he was picked out in a line up by several (who have not recanted), the ballistics show it was the same gun he used to shoot the first guy in the face .. and Cole wasn't there for that shooting so, he can't be blamed for that one ... look up the facts people .. you sicken me
Sorry HOLLYWOOD MORONS. Twitter couldn't save a cop-killer.
CNN just reported: He has been put to death.
You can rest now Susan...he's paid his debt so STFU! so...all of you thrill seekers can go on to the next headline...
Well if Kim Kardashian, in all of her intelligence, is supporting a pardon for this guy, we should all listen to her, right? Because being a celebrity (in Kim's case, for no reason at all) means that they are smarter, more talented, and can understand every situation with a clairvoyance that non-celebrities simply do not have.
@ Squid ..this is not about race and I don't think there will be riots at all. He killed a cop. Why people are supporting him I just don't get but I imagine in 24 hrs time Mr. Davis' name won't even be gracing CNN anymore ... hopeful for that anyway.
Hay Diddy- When you contribute something to society beyond your 'killa' personna and trash like this planned butt-book (see visual above: "Diddy to publish art book of derrieres") then maybe I might take you seriously on a serious topic like the death penalty issue
Folks, you're about to see the worst race riots you've ever seen. The world will rumble
Squid- Don't know if you are black. If you are and you feel that rioting is the way to change the world, then I guess that's what you're going to do. I personally believe that black men being good fathers, responsible spouses and hard-working members of our society is the best way to change the world.
Man I bet you are embarrassed today about your silly prediction.
hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahaha, so funny
Well blacks think it is their right and privilege to be criminals. Well most of them. All they care is that their "brothers" don't die. They will protest a black being executed, but not a white person. They even went to the grave of the victim of the white person. Do you think they went to the grave of the police officer? They are the reason for racism, because without it they would have to find a job. When have you ever seen black "leaders" protest black violence? But t hey will come a running when someone says the "N" word......
Plain and simple ... he was found guilty of MURDER....appeal after appeal was heard and unsuccessful. I do believe those Judges are quite educated, reasonable and just. The U.S. Supreme court is diverse also so stop making every frickin' decision you don't agree with about race. We all know in the GREAT USA what the penalty can be for murder, meaning Mr. Davis willingly made that choice and now must pay for his crime ... so, it is what it is and let it send a message to the next punk who wants to murder. I feel safer now that he will be gone.
I can't believe how many suckers believe these so-called celebrities...this cop killer has had the most exhaustive judicial review of any death-row inmate in history. Criminals don't get tried and convicted in the court of public opinion, they get tried in a Court of Law!
R.I.P. Mark MacPhail
Saying he doesn't deserve the death penalty is one thing, but to say he is 'innocent' when you didn't see all the evidence and testimony that the jury saw is just plain ridiculous. Most of the people who say he is innocent weren't present for the entire trial and are only basing that opinion on a few pieces of information, including the celebrities.
YAY KILL THE COP KILLER ITS ABOUT TIME
too many clowns in this circus!
If it was a white person, no one would care. It would be one less person for tax payers to worry about. Just saying. In Texas a white man was just executed for dragging a black man to death, and no one is saying a word about that. Just saying again.
Does anyone know why was his execution delayed this evening?
These celebs really think they carry a lot of weight! Especially these reality types. Someone calls them and tells them to support their cause. They never read about anything, but they know all. All of the support, but I bet none of them would have this guy over for dinner, even if they proved without a doubt he didn't do anything. They love the attention, but nothing past that point. A bunch of totally ignorant, stupid, idiotic, slime a.r.s.e.holes!
We have thousands of inocent people in our prisons, just ask them and they will tell you. Now, get you headoutofyourasses and stop listening to celebrity hasbeens and the media who's number one job is to SELL BAD NEWS, and not report as it happens. troy Davis killed that police officer and it was proven time and time again. You should look up the case and ALL OF ITS FINDINGS, including witness testimony that undoubtadely puts him where he belongs. THE CHAIR.
a gov who kills it is own people thats shame,
this is not the united states that people would dream of coming,
that not fare some body already died why killing another it doesnt make any closure nothing he is not coming back never ,
BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT it is supposed to be but not in Jim Crow South. Revenge is the total motive here. I hope you blood lust people supporting this travesty enjoy your revenge. Jesus did not preach revenge but it is amazing just how many bigots love this stuff. You are sick people.
So Tomas, what do you say to the family of the victim? Oh we are sorry your son was murdered but you will just have to deal with it........ Seriously, what is the answer if not a death penalty? If this were your child that was murdered; what would you be satisfied with as far as a penalty? Life in prison? So you are willing to support someone who took another persons life and now that person will get a free college education, a roof over their head, and free healthcare? I respect your opinion and I hope that you will respect mine. But what is the answer? I don't know what it is, but this family has been put through hell for 20 years and they deserve closure and peace.
.....those that always go to race do so because they have no legitimate logical argument. Give it a rest. It also confuses me that someone who tries to use religion as a crutch here, violates the 'thou shalt not judge' edict. Look in the mirror and fix from within before your push your self righteous crap on everyone else. Davis got what he deserved. The only travesty here is that it took 20 years to finish it up.
Can't say I've ever heard of these celebs.
Can't say I had ever heard of Troy Davis either.
Generally, if celebs are for it, it's probably best to be against it.
It is most interesting to see what kind of people support killers! Chicago has at least one innocent child murdered each week by Democrat drug gangs. No one cares! This is Obama's town. As long as the people vote Democrat and send money to Democrats, their kids are going to be slaughtered! Tens of thousands of Mexicans have been murdered by the drug cartels to support US drug users! Hollywood is a prime user. Obama was a user! The Liberal Democrats are responsible for more murders than Adolf Hitler! But the news journalists won't tell you that. They are smoking the Mexican killer's weed as I speak!
Questlove of the Roots-Black
notice a pattern to the "celebrity" supporters here? Remember the denial in the black community when OJ was accused of murder? Is race more important the truth?
Blacks come out when one of theirs kills and cry fowl and inocence. remember the OJ case or Tawana Brawley in NY? they we inocent, wink wink. I am suprized the good Rev's Al Sharpton and Jessie the mouth Jackson are not taking this to the airwaves. Shocking, how America treats its killers. No wonder they think we are a buch of idiots all over the world. If this happened in ANY other coutry in Europe, they would have hanged this guy years ago. Instead, we, the media and celebrities make an ass out our judicial sytem. All of the so called celebrities should be shipped to serv in Afganistan and Iraq for a year to remind them of what FREEDOM IS.
Pope Benedict – white
Jimmy Carter – white
"I care about Troy Davis. I dont want the brother to be executed." That right there is half of the reason so many people are rallying to save this guy, regardless of the fact that he was found guilty by a jury of his peers and repeatedly had his case reviewed only to be found still guilty and denied clemency. It's not whether or not he's guilty, it's because he's black and therefore must somehow be a victim of the system. For an interesting contrast, how many people were rallying to save Lawrence Brewer from death today? how many people march to save the average white man on death row for flimsier cases than this one? Take a good hard look at yourselves protesters, make sure you're protesting for the right reasons.
These "celebrities" disgust me! They will look for any fairtale to follow. Pathetic.
Damien Echols should have been first.
@ Susan...followed by the Memphis 3 right? No, they're at home..
I see a lot of people supporting a convicted murderer, but everyone seems to have forgotten Mark MacPhail, the victim. Who speaks for him? How does he feel about being dead and people clamoring for leniency for his killer? I'm sure he would have an opinion on the matter, probably a strong one.
@ Feast so....make it right by turning another innocent mother into a victim?
cn is a moron. Davis had his day in court where he WAS proven he was innocent. When you go through the appeals process, it is no longer about somebody proving you are guilty. They've done that. You need to prove the legal system did not follow due process or that there is new evidence that DOES prove you are innocent. I love it when simpletons don't actually research things before coming up with an opinion.
You're 100% correct. But you're forgetting one thing. The guys black! He MUST be a victim of the system! Because the system is prejudiced against minorities! So we're going to march to save this convicted murdered because we know better than the courts, the jury, and the appeals process. Oh, and we're going to get some celebs on board too so they can validate their undeserved egos and pretend like they arent shallow wastes of air and space. But btw, all those white guys on death row – they're 100% guilty. We're absolutely positive of that. Only black men are unjustly accused. Everyone knows that. Well, only black people know that. Thats why only black people are rallying to save Troy Davis.
@TxIvy...Yes, because we, as black people have rallied in this magnitude for every African American entering the death chamber? No! Obviously this case stands out....I know of several blacks who were executed this year, no one raised a fuss...Dont associate this isolated incident with every African American on death row or who has been put to death legally. But...what's the point now?...He's gone. RIP...
A big, sick publicity stunt for all of them.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAH.. I GOT AWAY WITH MURDER BY PLAYING THE RACE CARD!!!!! HAHAHHAHA.. THIS COUNTRY IS SO GULLABLE!!!! WHAT A JOKE THIS COUNTRY IS!!! JUST SAY RACIST AND THE WHITE PEOPLE CAVE!!! AHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH
WHY ARE THEY KILLING THAT WHITE GUY FOR PULLING THE BLACK GUY BEHIND THE TRUCK WITH A CHAIN??? I THINK HE WAS INNOCENT!!!!! HE DID NOT MEAN TO KILL THE BLACK GUY. HE THOUGHT HE WAS AN APE AND WAS LETTING HIM GET IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK.. THERE IS DOUBT HERE!!! WHY ARE THEY PUTTING THIS WHITE GUY TO DEATH! HE ONLY KILLED A BLACK GUY.. WHO CARES????? I WANT SHARPTON TO GO THERE AND DEMONSTRATE.. WHO CARES ABOUT THE BLACK GUYS FAMILY.. WHO CARES!! THERE IS DOUBT HERE.. HOW DO WE KNOW THAT HE DID NOT THINK THE GUY WAS AN APE?????
@ John, People like you are the ones who turn everything into a racial issue. Lol. Are you mad? Feeling a little outnumbered? You can be mad...it's ok:-)
I hope the right thing is done, and it does NOT include putting anyone to death. I don't know if he did it, or if he didn't do it, but it's arrogant and ignorant to think that death can be justified by the killing of another. I can't pretend to know he's innocent, but something just doesn't sit right about this man's conviction. Whether the witnesses recanted or not, the base factors for his imprisonment still don't feel right. I hope that the truth wins, I really do.
Hey!!! The West Memphis 3 were released!! All you CONSERVATIVES werent this upset when they were set free! They were accused of sodomizing little boys! We just want the man to live. For Christ sakes...the supporters arent demanding he be released. There is too much doubt to execute! Wake up!
There is no doubt. You actually look at old court records, it's plain as day. Further, evidence that was considered inadmissable due to a technicality further proves he was guilty.
@ mike. There is doubt. NO doubt? What if the witnesses were intimidated into testifying? If they were reliable enough to aid in his conviction...why is their reliability being questioned now? Those are double standards. The Forensic expert testified that the bullets could have been the same but he wasnt sure....then a "homeless" person finds matching shell casing near the scene of the cops murder and hands them over to police....after detectives searched the scene and didnt find any? Work with me here Mike....No doubt? None?
Ballistic expert testified***** *Correction*
Tweet the cop killer to death on Faces of Death Book !
CASEY ANTHONY JUST CALLED
SHE SAID GIVE THE GUY A NEEDLE SANDWICH
If Troy Davis is guilty or not he should not be put to death. His death is not going to bring any closure to the officers family. And the mother of the officer should never want to put that kind of hurt onto Troy Davis's mom. If he is guilty let him rot in jail away from his family and friends for the rest of his life. That to me is worse then death. An eye for an eye is not the way. People get mad at gang members when they get revenge for a killing and the justice system is doing the same thing. Practice what you preach. Also, is there is any doubt on if this man is guilty or not then the death penalty should not be an option. Like somebody said earlier you cant reverse death.
Perusal of all these posts will convince the intelligent reader of the power of the internet to make stupid into stupid to many powers.
Of course they're rallying, he didn't kill anybody they know. Wonder how many of these guys will support the people his victim left behind....answer?......zero.
Even Pope Benedict has called for state officials to reconsider and "recognize the sacredness of human life." It is funny how people call themselves Christians and yet they are anything but Christ like.
wow this makes me sick! kill him already! if he was white I'd be saying the same thing!
I say kill the supporters especially Big Boy Sean Comes amd Kim K
Same people supported OJ;it's a race thing, that's all....gee, is that politically incorrect? The truth matters not. And it's cheap publicity for rappers and has been Sarah Bernhard.
Can you wait your minutes here without the race talk? if there is no link to murder then why not let go? must he serve as a scape goat to relieve the officer 's family? may the officer's soul rest in peace. Dont kill innocent man. God bless America.
all ready lived to long on us..his family should pay the gov back.
Where were all of these when Texas just carried out an execution. Do the crime, pay the penalty.
If he was white he would have been dead 10 years ago without a bat of a eye like the rest of the white people who were punished for their crimes..
The (young, at the time) white man that was only recently executed in Texas murdered a much older lone Black man. SUPPOSEDLY, these WHITE SUPREMACISTS, him and two others did this to get more people to join up with them. So, what took so long,(over 10 yrs.) no questions here? They dragged him behind a truck until he was decapitated. What is happening with the other two white men? There have been other incidents like this. Recently, white teens in Mississippi participated in the beating and murder of (once again,a lone older BLACK male). Only one has been charged with murder so far. I thank the RAPPERs who got involved since they are often portrayed as enemies of the sate no matter what good they do. The comedic line, "Why because I'm BLACK?" is based on an ugly truth, that yes in America ugly and unjust things happen to you because you're BLACK!!
What fame is there for "Big Boi" ? Never heard of him.. LOL
he's in outkast
Big Boi.... What a stupid name......
It is disgusting when celebrities use there so called power for something they know nothing about
Mind your F ing business
Did any of them stop to think about the man who was murdered
The pain and suffering his family had to endure all these years
If the court of law found this murderer guilty, Celebrities should mind there own business
Clearly they have too much time and money on there idiotic hands
The sad thing is that not one person that is on this bandwagon cares one bit about justice for the real victim. The dead police officer. With endless amounts of tax payer money to fund his repeated defenses over the course of almost 25 years and here you are....making it a racial thing. What a disgrace.
Why is everything about race? If there is reasonable doubt, allow due diligence to prevail, but don't kill him, especially since death can't be reversed! Let's be honest, we all have heard cases of over zealous police offices taking matters into their own hands (whether the accused is black or white), so it is quite reasonable that some of the witnesses could have been coerced into their testimony. None of us are above reproach and should not judge. Instead of making mean comments why can't we just pray for both families since both are grieving.
What makes actors and musicians qualified to decide legal matters again? I don't see the Supreme Court giving Hollywood advice on how to make crappy movies and get divorced every week.
This is bs, this man IS guilty and all this hype is for nothing! He killed another man on the same day he killed this officer, the fact is all you people looking for a cause: THIS AINT IT-HE’S A COLD BLOODED MURDERER
All these people are stuck on the witnesses recanting, haven't you ever heard of a witness recanting due to intimidation and death threats. Look at how public this has become. You can guarantee that anyone that testified against Troy Davis has been threatened by his supporters. But you know the saying ignorance is bliss. This is just another way for the NAACP to put attention towards whites vs blacks. I mean for an organization that is against racism, they sure do promote it. Racism will never die because of organizations like the NAACP
actually the witnesses said they lied during trial due to police intimidation!!!!! 7 out of 9!
PDiddy is calling for everyone to Eric Holder, but Holder is in charge of federal prosecutions. This is a state case, so he Holder has no influence. Silly celebrities.
The execution has been delayed...
What celebs? The only name I recognize is Kardashian, and she's only famous because she's "famous." I have a feeling those trying to save this guy's life have exaggerated the "doubts" in this case tremendously given all the courts and elected officials that have turned down his appeal to date. And these "celebs" blindly parrot these exaggerations like they've heard the evidence in the case, which they didn't.
"In a situation such as this, what do you think the impact is of a celebrity raising awareness on a topic by communicating it with their millions of followers?"
The impact can be awesome.
Just look at the way Lady Gaga put an end to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military.
Where is the outcry though when corporations like Exonn Mobile torture people in Indonesia? Think about the hypocracy of allowing corportions to own not only our country but all countries when they become "To big to fail" andr the small business is clobbered by the giant. Something is wrong with the world today when wealthy live by different rules with white collar crimes rather than blue collar crimes being treated way differently. Rich people murder everyday by feeding us poisin whether or our choice or not that is why they like no regulation on food. Look at Cheeseburger laws in states and the lack of proper regulation of food suppplies. Darn the war machine continues endlessly while we call ourselfs christian or prolife when in fact we aren't in many ways (e.g. supporting the Shaw in Iran, supporting Neberack of Egypt, supporting the Saudi King, aligniong ourselves with Stalin Or Mao's decendants, etc hypocracy I say.
Wow ...big celebrities! Sandra Bernhardt and the Indigo Girls! LOL. What? No M. C Hammer?
These pseudo intellectual, elitist Hollywood idiots have a warped sense of morality and are simply not to bright.
so all the colored celebs come out for this murderer BECAUSE he's black. No suprise there
I'm 100% against the death penalty. But why should I (or anyone else with a brain) give a damn about what Kim Kardashian says?
I think they should reconsidered the death penalty and come up with more substantial evidence. This is a SAD SAD SAD world that we live in
I wonder how many of these celebrities know anything about the case and how many of them are just jumping on the bandwagon for the extra publicity.
Those who call for a stay of execution are of the same mentaily of the OJ Simpson jury who used the race card to trump justice.
Oh, I didn't know Kim K was on board. Maybe he is innocent!
Dumb bimbo needs to do something worthwhile again. Go make another home video
if they can let casey anthony get away with murder with more evidence but want to execute a man with NO dna evidence, 7 of 9 witnesses recanting their stories, and reasonable doubt.... what has our justice system come to????
He is getting what he deserves because the process works. The case was presented to the highest court in the land; The DEFENCE CASE WAS SMOKE AND MIRRORS!!!! IF YOU TAKE TIME TO ACTUALLY READ THE TRANSCRIPTS AND FOLLOW THE CASE YOU WILL KNOW THE FACTS...... THIS GUY IS GUILTY AND HE IS GOING TO DIE FOR HIS CRIMES... END OF STORY...
There were 34 witnesses who testified against him. Three of them were airmen who saw this clear as day and said they would never get that picture out of their head.
Absolutely 100% correct. It sickens me that these things happen. I can't understand it.
Have any of your far left idiots actually looked at this guys criminal record??? MMM>>> NO... He is guilty and is getting what he deserves? If you want to show support, HOW ABOUT SUPPORTING THE MCPHAIL FAMILY>>>> GOOD JOB GEORGIA!!!!!
how is he getting what he deserves???? where is the evidence at? Yeah he has a criminal past but that does not mean he committed that murder. how would you feel if that was you and you only had an hour to live and their was reasonable doubt, no dna evidence, 7 out of 9 witnesses recanting their stories but you were still going to get put to death?
WE CAN ALL LEARN A LESSON HERE.... DONT KILL PEOPLE AND YOUR ASS WILL NOT BE ON DEATH ROW!!! GOOD JOB GEORGIA WAY TO STAND YOUR GROUND AND NOT GIVE INTO CELEB. PRESSURE!!!!!!!
i have been following the case.... why are you so gunhoe for him to die if there is no evidence why not another trial? just curious. you say hes guilty well obviously there is no proof of that, so why kill a possible innocent man? if that was you, you wouldn't want to die now would you!
Couldn't have said it any better! What the hell is wrong with all of these people? The police officer that was murdered and his family deserve peace. I think the nuts on here are more interested in stirring up a "race" issue. Where were all of these people when the Texas execution went down today. Didn't hear any of them speaking up for him. Geez
Where is the support for the McPhail Family???? The guy was found guilty in a court of law!!! Justice for the McPhail FAMILY will he served
I'm pretty sure even if he is executed, we will all still sleep that night.
Hey mandey is your vocab higher than just "Wow you are so ignorant" or are you the ignorant one.
Atleast troy doesnt live in texas. Rick perry would have executed DAvis long ago because they dont seem to have a justice system down there. If you want to succed from the union why would you run for president!
Texas has no justice system....read about Hailey Dunn.
UNITED STATES COURT ALLOW CONTAMINATED EVIDENCE BEFORE JUDGE AND JURY.
BALLISTIC EXPERT LIED. IT IS FALSE AND MISLEADING. STATE OF GEORGIA NEEDS TO SHOW RESPECT.
Here is a picture from the American embassy in Oslo today:
and the French are with us with Troy as well:
We need to stop the executions in this country. This country needs to GIVE PEACE A CHANCE!!!
I certainly hope people do not start rioting in the streets, if they go through with the execution.
Georgians love a good riot. Gives us a good excuse to get rid of a few other idiots on the street, and legally. So come on rioters, try to do so in front of the Jackson Georgia Prison and see how justice is served Georgia Style, though as mentioned, legally.
Rioting is stupid. It changes nothing. London animals rioted for three weeks this summer. all they got was jail time
Fred, if they do, I'll be on my roof armed and waiting.
Hey Zizka, economy is another discussion, but I will mention that Europe could have done without this whole subprime american nightmare, which was the starting point of the current global crash.
I HOPE DAVIS IS SH"o"TTING IN HIS PANTS RIGHT NOW. I CANNOT BELIEVE ALL OF THESE PEOPLE WHO THINK HE IS INNOCENT. I LIVE IN SAVANNAH. EVERYONE ON THE STREET KNOWS HE DID IT.. READ THE CNN INTERVIEW OR LISTEN TO IT, WITH THE D.A. LAWTON. HE KNOWS THE FACTS.. AND BY THE WAY.. I AM BLACK.
And the opinion of the Innocence Project?
Stick the needle in him and get it over with. One less dirbag in the world.
Everyone needs to look at the bigger picture. If we as human beings could ( or for that matter should ) prevent every execution, innocent or not; every murder, every death from disease, starvation etc..; every plane crash, car crash, stillborn birth, hurricane, tornado, suicide, WAR, and top that off with life expectancy pushing 100yrs!!; what kind of world population would we be looking at?? The same injustices have been with us since day one. Just as in the wilderness, nature will take its course. So let's chill with all the drama please. outlawmousetraps.com
How does sceduled lethal injection of a person count as nature ? :p
If Troy Davis is executed because the Parole|Clemency board refuses to accept that they made a mistake and correct it or because they maintain that they have the right man – what will Americans do? What can be done to make those in power understand that people have a conscience and demand justice – FAIR justice! For me personally, the mere existence of the death penalty is wrong and even more so because of this case! Abolish the death penalty – that is one thing Americans need to do whether Troy dies tonight or not! My thoughts are with him and his family.....
Canadianmom, I regret that you disagree with the death penalty as administered in the Lower 48. I, however, agree with it and am comfortable with the Great State of Texas going forward with today's execution. If you can't do the time, or the penalty, then don't do the crime in the Lower 48. I also think that execution cases should be fast tracked and not extend past one year. Dragging such out over 20 years is ridiculous. I also think a few public hangings would deter some capital crimes.
I think everyone is forgetting that this man was also convicted of shooting a man in the face (attempted murder, anyone?), and beating a homeless person to a pulp right before this murder happened...so, regardless if he did it or not, he would still be in prison for life, or close to it. This man might be innocent of murdering this cop (I'm kind of on the fence about his guilt), but he is still guilty of other horrible crimes.
Thank God the celebrities gave their two cents. Lets all do as they say!
Someone like troy davis should pay a visit to those phony hollywood stars who never met a black murderer they didn't defend to look kool, which only makes them fools.
DID YOU ALL KNOW THAT TROY DAVIS WAS ALSO CONVICTED OF ANOTHER SHOOTING THAT SAME NIGHT IN CLOVERDALE IN SAVANNAH GA??? DID YOU KNOW YOUR LITTLE INNOCENT PERSON WAS CONVICTED OF THAT SHOOTING TOO!!! HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA.. WHAT A JOKE.. BUT EVERYONE THINKS HE IS AN ANGEL.. THIS GUY WAS THE DEVIL.
Why is it that every time there is a black man condemned to die celebrities and the black community profess there innocents. If a jury of his peers found him guilty of the evidence provided then Mr. Innocent (Davis) needs to pay the price.
ledman- ledman- ledman- the "FORMER" fbi director is falling into this nonsense the is floating around the internet. you see this innocent looking picture of davis. look at some of the other pictures of when he was arrested laughing.. it was said that the officer begged davis for his life.. told davis he had kids.. davis laughed and shot him in the face. 20 people testified to the same thing over and over.. come on.. this is not a racial thing.. but..i ask you.. if the officer was black would sharpton be involved??????
Now now – don't get all factual and whatnot in a typical celebutard rant....you libs should be ashamed of yourself – where is the indignant responses for the guy in Texas who was just put down? Oh wait....
Anyway we can trade Davis for some of these rappers?
Let's take a vote
Idiots! Each one of these "so called" celebs.
Why should I care what actors and musicians have to say about something like this? What authority are they on anything other than acting and playing music?
Santa Ana, California (CNN) - A police officer has been charged with second-degree murder and another faces an involuntary manslaughter charge in the death of a mentally ill homeless man who died after a confrontation with police, California prosecutors announced Wednesday.
I wonder how much time the cop will get?
Hey Guest, I wasn't saying we were more civilized... our system is often too gentle and inefficient. The death penalty doesn't solve anything neither, is dramatic in case of mistakes and doesn't bring the murdered back on their feet anyway.
JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE!!! the guy is guilty as hell!! he deserves to die! plain and simple!!! if it had been your kinfolk he had killed you would be all over it! wish i could be the one to execue him and many others!! lethakl injection is too kind for him
Putting the celebrities to the side (No Offense) even a former F.B.I. direct has his doubts.
davis's family knows troy killed that officer. everyone in savannah that has 1/2 a brain is laughing about this whole farce. this guy terrorized savannah. this guy had been arrested so many times it was unreal. he without a doubt killed this officer. i heard that alot of evidence was not allowed due to improper search warrents... the supreme courts ect all know about that evidence. why would all of these courts uphold the conviction.. I WILL TELL YOU WHY. BECAUSE THEY KNOW THINGS WE DONT AND THEY KNOW THIS GUY WAS GUILTY. THANK GOD HE IS OFF THE STREETS OF SAVANNAH.
Hey, guess what? You should not be convicted based on previous actions, nor should the higher courts consider information not included at trial. We would trust their knowledge and wisdom? Why have a trial at all if that is the case?
Any animal that kills human beings should be put down. It has nothing to do with religion or race. It's a matter of practicality.
LET ONE OF THESE CELEBRITIES WALK DOWN A ROAD IN SAVANNAH AT NIGHT WITH TROY DAVIS LOOSE AND SEE IF THEY STILL SUPPORT HIM... HE ROBBED SO MANY PEOPLE WHEN HE WAS OUT IT WAS UNREAL.. AND BEAT THEM UNMERCIFULLY. THIS GUY WAS NO SAINT. HE WOULD KILL EVERYONE OF THESE CELEBRITIES THAT ARE CONCERNED ABOUT HIM.. SUCH A JOKE THIS WHOLE THING IS.
The guy is guilty as sin. The people who have recanted have been pressured. Haven't any of you libs ever watched a mafia movie?
Oh Please. Let's just get on with this!
Gotta love how the "countdown" to an execution is on the "Entertainment" section of a news site. :)
These guys are celebrities? Really?
If you're a celebrity and don't believe in capital punishment then get out everyday of the year every year to support your beliefs. Dont speak up once in a while just for the publicity.
Hey Zizka I wasn't talking about the US legal system. I was talking about the illegal system. Killing someone is illegal anywhere. The US would be a better place to live if they were a little more open-minded.
No, Brussels, you are talking about the legal system. Davis was convicted in a court of law by a jury of his peers of the crime of murdering a police officer. The verdict has been reviewed numerous times and been found to be legal. The only reason we are discussing it is because the nasty murderer, instead of repenting of his foul crime, is trying deperately to save his sorry butt and has gone public with his disgraceful campaign. Naturally, he has attracted the ignorant–Hollywood and Europe–to his cause. This is typical and, frankly, boring. Any cop-killer with half a brain knows how to dupe you morons and knows how to tap into your innate hatred of the great country that saved your butts twice in the last century and still props up your economy. There's no mystery here.
I am stunned..
with all the evidence that this man might not be guilty, that they would go ahead with the execution..
He would not be let out of jail.. He would not be set free.. But he would be alive.. And a wrong could be undone..
Is he is executed and innocent.. There is no way to right that wrong..
How can they execute him now? It's freaking strange.... What the h... is going on here? really what makes them want to go ahead with this??
Here is the facebook group link that the Swedish and Norwegian press links to in their articles:
Please join and show solidarity
Let me try read hard to care about what the Swedes and Norwegians feel about our legal system.....Nope, I got nothing. If I remember correctly, our forefathers fled Europe and rejected the corrupt systems they left behind. Later, we saved those sorry losers from their fellow Europeans...TWICE. Then, under the Marshal Plan, we gave them billions of dollars to rebuild their sorry economies. Then we sheltered them during the Cold War. Thus concludes the history lesson. Now...WHAT did these idiots have to say??
So you seriously think that we havent involved since you left us? During that time, you could get in prison for being a non-christian, and today we have non-christians and christians mixed in our governments, today everything that you fled from us because of, is perfectly legal
Magnus, can you skip across the border into Norway and see what can be done about lowering the price of King Oscar sardines (brisling in olive oil) they are the best, only too liitle for the buck. Sorry, got off the point, Davis is guilty.
screw all them celebs,I wonder how would they feel if that pos killed their kid.put kanye with him!
Maybe going back to public executions might actually put the fear into these idiots who feel the need to take another person’s life for no reason. Seeing someone dangling at the end of a rope or lying on the ground following a firing squad, etc., should wake a few people up. Everyone seems to forget about the victim, except their loved ones who have to remember every day of their loss. We must stop allowing the low-life to feed off the American tax dollar in jail/prison longer than a year following conviction, because it is a burden on the justice system. A quick execution following all trials is needed. BTW, I don’t see anyone trying to stop Texas from their scheduled execution this evening…..Got to love their revolving door as one comic mentions during his stage act.
They should serve beer and hot dogs, let it happen right in the middle of the city or town for all to watch.
Not a single mention about the poor dead cop...I read the reports. The matching shells, the fact that he was placed at the scene. Do us all a favor and put this guy down.
I care about the dead cop, i would prefer if they catch the real killer instead
Magnus, after careful DNA analysis, Loki did it...sleep well, Davis did it, this is not 1843, the forensics have shown that the right one is being given ultimate justice.
Message to Europe: we are not interested in your opinion of our legal system.
The fact that we are concerned about is the fact that he is innocent, if he was guilty there would be real evidence
Magnus–Perhaps you haven't been paying attention. Please sit up straight, put your crayons away, and listen to the facts. A JURY OF HIS PEERS has convicted him of murder. Courts of higher appeals have reviewed the case and found no merit in his appeals. What some derelicts say (not under oath) twenty years later does not change the legal facts. Save your righteous indignation for the alleged eyewitnesses who LIED in a murder trial. Let them come forward and be named. Let them submit themselves to perjury charges. SHAME on them if they lied. And on you for listening to proven LIARS while coddling a cop-killer.
Magnus, Magnus, puhlease! I'd wager if you pled your case to Odin and Thor there would be immediate devine intervention.
BOOST YOUR CAREERS SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Hey, Sanandon, you out there?? How's the family doing of that murdered waiter Jack Abbott slaughtered after you got HIM out?? 6 months out, Sanrandon and Mailer are so proud of themselves – and DEATH to 22 year-old RICHARD ADEN
(YOUR rich kids are pretty safe from these kinds of people, though, huh, Sarandon?)
BTW people, read the DA's interview today. Finally he can speak as this is case is resolved. ZERO REAL LEGAL DOUBT OF DAVIS' GUILT......only doubt on FaceBook and Twitter.
Shocking. Doesn't look like the US, who so often claim themselves to be superpowers and civilized people, are gonna get clever on this any time soon. 200 chaps in front of the whitehouse are not big protest... pathetic.
Well, ok, The guy from Brussels, Europe is so civilized that up until the early part of the 20th century the French were still lopping heads off and the Germans, well ,what else can be said about them? Europe would be using marks as a monetary system and hailing the Fatherland were it not for the United States, and until this day European nations receive how much in handouts from us? Oh yes, lest I forget, after Germany had its grab at you along came the Commies and it was Americaan military might that kept you from enjoying rubles and vodka...
Decapitation is actually a way more humane execution method than lethal injections and electric chairs, they used it here in Sweden as well during the uncivilized time in the 20th century, but at least they had the good taste to use the most humane method of execution.
Hey D@chebag from Brussels...stop worrying about the US and its civilization...worry about something more important to Europe.....like SOCCER and the collapse of the EU....we got the tough stuff for you!!
EXECUTE HIM...he deserves it!!
It still boggles my mind that people still support death penalty in a so called `civilized country` . But then this, killing a man for a crime he quite possibly did not commit. How can a man be sentenced to death just based on a few story changing eye witnesses?
If you don't believe in the death penalty for murder, then you believe that a human life is worth something less than a human life. What price do you put on human life? 20 years? 10 years? A hefty fine? Some time in counseling?
What would be the penalty if your son or daughter were slaughtered? I assume you would pat the murderer on the head and concern yourself with his civil rights?
Murder is wrong, it does not matter who commits it. A government should be above that. Put the person in jail for life (in case you care about your taxes, its usually cheaper then actually killing them) and let them do something usefull for the community by working.
If a loved one gets killed there is nothing that would bring the person back. So what´s the use of killing the murderer?
I'm not sure where you got your facts, but keeping an inmate in jail is quite expensive . . . over $30k/year. I don't think this has anything to do with the population being worried about their taxes.
That being said, we should go back to the good ol' days where inmates actually WORKED, i.e. picking corn, picking cotton, sewing, etc. At least they'd be of some value to our system than just "thinking about what they have done."
I thought that was known. It´s mostly spent on legal fee´s. I´m not sure if i can post a link here, but i´ll try anyway.
i wonder if you ever read the facts of the case and you find out your comment here is wrong if you will be embaraased within yourself for a long time? there was more than eye witness testimony. try checking for yourself instead of being a sheep and looking foolish. you honor a man that shot a cop and when he fell, walked up and shot him again ... you should be sickened by your support for this evil act ...
Eum, i don't recall saying i am supporting his crimes? The whole "without a doubt" part is quite weak, and i stand by that. I suggest you read comments before putting words into peoples mouths because strangely enough i do not honor people that commit evil crimes.
The sooner we eliminate "without a doubt" killers, rapists, kidnappers, the better. All to often they are let loose on an unsuspecting populace to do it all over again. Some crimes do not beg a second chance and willful murder is at the top of the list.
I really hope that you aren't mistaken one day for someone who committed a crime that comes with the death penalty. Then you might be singing a different tune.
Its funny with how many studies that have been done that eye witness testimony is very often wrong, that people still give it so much credit. If you have four witness to a crime, you will have 5 different ways that it happened. Plus with pressure for a conviction in a case that involves law enforcement, it seems like if you pick any poor minority, its okay to kill them.
I believe that it is time to re-evaluate and see the death penalty for as antiquated as it is. Most nations have banned it, it's time that we join the rest of the civilized world and ban it too.
you do realize this case in not without doubt right?
As for the recantations, they are not under oath. These "people" testified UNDER OATH (to some species, that phrase means something...) in a murder trial. Years later, they "recant"–which is free of charge, free of obligation, fetched under who knows what conditions. If they lied 20 years ago, let them bear the blame for their crime of murder by false testimony. In any case, Davis is/was a violent bum–the evidence of this is not in dispute–and deserves a quick trip to the hereafter. I will sleep soundly while he dies.
OK, I just read all the facts in the case.
I fail to see why so many people think he is innocent. Looks more to me like a heard mentality with 3rd rate celebrities hopping on the band wagon.
Seven of his jurors were black. Most of the "recanted" or "contradicted" testimony was in writing only; the witnesses refused to appear at the evidentiary hearing and testify under oath. The shell casings at the scenes of both shootings MATCHED, and he was placed at both. Celebrities blurr things for their own self-interest and PR. This man is not innocent, and there is no "new" evidence that would be admitted in a normal court of law. Lights out.
Magnus–Perhaps you haven't been paying attention. Please sit up straight, put your crayons away, and listen to the facts. A JURY OF HIS PEERS has convicted him of murder. Yeah and all of them say if they knew the evidence they know now he wouldn't be in jail, No gun powder residue was ever found on guy, the police showed only his picture to the people before the line up, that right that in normal cases should have had the case thrown out, that is call leading a witness, they even took the witness all at once to the scene and told them what happen. It suppose to be the witness telling the police what happened. how is it that all the witness have a criminal record that the police and use to get a false ID
Troy Davis needs to die along with all of the people who helped me after I murdered the four police officers in Lakewood Washington in November 2009. Anyone who kills a cop or helps someone who has killed a cop to evade justice deserves to die.
Whenever celebrities get involved that automatically makes me root against whatever cause they are for. I just hope celebrities never campaign against T&A or marijuana.....or booze....
America, you are a disgusting fascist nation who shows no respect to humanity. It has been revealed in the Swedish press today that 7 of the 9 witnesses has taken back their testimony, this man is INNOCENT and you are going to kill him. I can tell you that the Swedish people is on Troys side!
Not all of us are fascists at all... Some of us are opposites... And I have been following this case since high school and I am very glad that the world is hearing about the injustices done here in America... As I have written on my face "I am Troy Davis"... Any one of us could be in the wrong place at the wrong time and be convicted and sentenced to death at least in America...
As an American, I can tell you that not all of us want him to be executed. Some of us are actually quite civilized.
Yes i know, i am talking about the American government of course, NOT the people who supports him! Its the American government and especially the Georgian government that should be ashamed! I highly support all Americans who are against the murder that is going to be commited by the Georgian government in an hour
You're probably a chubby troll sitting in your basement in Peoria, but if you're not, chances are that this fascist nation saved your nation from (real) fascism/communism/poverty/anarchy/religious persecution/genocide at some time in the last 60 years. Enjoy it ol' chap!
Hey Magnus, stick to Volvos and SAAB's, do you even make them any more...you, as the rest of the majoriity, if in fact a majority for him exists, have failed miserably to acquaint yourselves with the facts of the case, this has been through the system so many times that it's time to exact justice upon Davis, so let it be written, so let it be done.
The ones who saved me from fascism during WWII was the brave Scandinavian resistance, like Max Manus for example:
Georgians don't like people killing our citizens, kids, police officers, etc. An eye for an eye and hopefully quick justice in return, though it took far too long to get this one where he belongs. Only thing most Georgians miss are the Electric Chair days, when you got to see the lights flicker when the switch was thrown and knew, another one was put away for good, and no more of our taxes were being wasted. Now, let’s see who’s next on the list.
Yeah you gat a lot of room to talk! How about your killer who killed what 80+ people. maybe he should walk too. Give me a break. I bet you haven't read any of the facts and evidence in this case.
The U.S. "fascist" - in many aspects absolutely yes. Plus, the death penalty is never right.
look up the facts yourself. you are misguided. 34 witnesses, ballistic evidence .. i read the actual case and all the appeals. there is a reason none of the multiple courts have upheld this case. it is clear Troy Davis is (was) a cold blooded killer. He shot the cop, when the cop fell he walked up to him and shot him again .. This is your hero.
Magnus, you Swedes supplied Hitler with raw materials during WWII. Get off your high horse and examine where Sweden got all of its money over the last 80 years. Sweden actually worked for fascism! Also Sweden sells more weapons on the world market per capita than any other country on the planet. Go away and worry about your own country's problems....
Ah yes ... Sweden. The country that gave a 22 year old man two years in jail for beating a 80 year old woman to death in a public parking lot over a parking space.
I don't want to hear any crap from someone from a country that has no idea what America is like – you can't compare Sweden to the US. I always laugh at people who live in countries that are 99% white and judge another country that is a true melting pot – a country where all races are welcome and present. Sometimes we don't get along – but at least we are trying and nobody needs the opinion of someone who isn't trying – a country that is content just claiming to be better while living in bubble not having any clue what it is really like to live in America – specifically the South. As far as Davis goes – I don't know if he was guilty or not – but we have the death penalty as a deterrent. Sometimes it doesn't work but we need the deterrent so that people know there is a price to pay for murder other than three meals a day, free health care and shelter. The truth is Davis’s life was over – ruined beyond repair. I think I would rather have gotten it over with than live in a cell the rest of my life – so this isn't as bad as people are making it out to be since even if he didn't get executed he would have still remained on death row the rest of his life. What he really wanted was freedom – and I don't blame him – but based on what I have read I don't think that was going to happen.
He was also charged in another shooting prior to killing the cop. He deserves to fry.
That's 100% NOT true. One of the 9 who testified against him (SEVEN have since recanted) is the person who was charged with the prior killing. and those seven who recanted have now said that the "one" is the actual killer.
you are a heartless human being, I never in a million years thought a human could make as heartless of a comment that you do. You are one sick human being.
Well said. The liberals conveniently forget this guy also TURNED HIMSELF IN...then recanted later. His flimsy story is over.
US will in an hour to commit a murder of Justice if they do not stop the execution. And my thoughts go out to Troy Davis and his family. And it is worldwide news and it is horrible and manny ppl with me in Sweden feel for his life.
Carina, what about the murdered officer? What about his family? This murderer deserves to receive this punishment.
The supporters have all failed. This guy is guilty. They need to just read the case. Celebs are really not that intelligent. There really isn't much doubt about it.
Uninformed celebrities abuse their access to the media by spreading misinformation, so they should stick to what they know and avoid displaying their ignorance for everyone to see. The problem is that they can actually influence public opinion among the ignorant masses and create chaos. The "doubts" in this case are greatly exaggerated and twisted into fallacies by people with an agenda that goes beyond this specific case. A reasonable person with no axe to grind should conclude that 20 years of appeals through a wide range of courts, including liberal ones, have resulted with this conclusion: The original conviction and sentence is just according to Georgia state law.
Good, sensible post, Brian. Just because celebrities have a forum doesn't mean they should use it. How is a rapper more informed than a plumber? He's not. And why would I listen to a plumber about anything other than plumbing? I wouldn't. So guys, just stick to advice about rhyming.
Very well said, and exactly what I would have written.
And Brian, when you say 'ignorant masses' you are really honing in on the real problem in this country. The idiots that rally around every available 'race' based issue without reading the facts of the issue, are just that. Ignorant and gullible and fodder for these so-called celebs, who themselves use punk and criminal looks and talk to pursue money from these people. He's been tried and his case heard and re-heard many, many times over 22 years with each agency hearing the evidence coming to the same conclusion. Even the Supreme Court heard the stuff and came to the same conclusion. Liberals and Conservatives alike come to the same conclusion. Face it...it's time to pay the piper.
'ignorant masses' is pretty well said. Same masses that let OJ go free. Same masses that elected BO. In the end we are all sorry for the problems the ignorant masses cause. I am sorry for $5.4 trillion in new government debt the ignorant masses sent my way. Nobody ever considers the victims and the ignorant masses here don;t give a damn about the victims family either. And most of them would not be uttering a word if it were a caucasion on death row.
Celebs rallied for the Memphis three and they are white, this isn't about race. And 7 or the 9 witnesses have apparently recanted their testimony is that what you call exaggerated? I support the death penalty for people who are guilty beyond all doubt – DNA, fingerprints, etc. but if there is a chance he isn't guilty then they shouldn't execute him.
oh my goodness, haters! Celebs are still people you know, right? they have just as much right to speak their mind and vent as YOU do! If their "celeb status" makes more people aware of Troy's innocence, i say GREAT! way too many mean judgmental angry people in this Country who clearly need to take a look at their own lives! I may not know Troy Davis personally but i bet he actually has a soul unlike most on here! Praying for you Troy!!
These trolls never miss a beat... wishing death upon another human being.
you are selective in your outrage
Im glad I didnt pay extra for the front row seats. BOOOORING.
This type of injustice that gives the American people the hopeless they feel with the justice and political system. A man being put to death for crime in which there is little no evidence. Former witnesses feel wronged in their pleas that law enforcement coerced them into giving statements. Hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of American citizens’ protests are left unacknowledged and ignored by judges, politicians, and other government officials against taking the life a man who may not been given a fair trial. This is just an internal view from our citizens, the world has also spoke up with its criticisms of Troy’s unfair views. This not the first time and seems to be the regular in the American Justice system. Groves of citizens come together on issues they feel strongly about and attempt to use the justice system in the way it was designed, yet no resolution or even acknowledgement comes of it.
With public officials disregard of the very people they supposed to represent, there’s no wonder the American People have no confidence in our government to protect or look out for us.
What??? NINE people testified against him. Do you really want a justice system that throws in the towel every time someone is able to mount a loud campaign to reverse the jury's verdict?
for Reagan – and SEVEN of them have recanted saying it was not him.
This cannot go forward!!! If it does, it represents the failure of or legal system, and the concept of a reasonable doubt. There is too manu unanswered questions to kill this man. 7 of 9 witnesses recanted, 1 of the 2 has been identified as the real killer. JUSTICE FOR ALL......Not just for the Memphis 3!!!!
To the top: Wake up President Obama!!!
the reasonable doubt is for the jurors – not someone who wasn't even at the trial no matter how popular the belief
It doesn't strike you as more than a bit odd that SEVEN people claim they lied under oath to convict an innocent man and now those seven have seen the light and want to undo their dastardly deed? How gullible are you?
"Derrique3" Uh, The West Memphis Three are white.
it is a state matter not federal. Twitting Holder or jerk in the white house won't matter. 22 courts looked at this the guy is gulity.
Reasonable doubt should have been raised at trial. twenty two years later is a stretch. Memories grow dim and people do change their minds about the death penalty. Celebs should stick to what they do best....
What the hell makes celebrities qualified to give an opinion on ANYTHING?! Why does their point of view bear any more weight than the common man or woman? It's obvious that the guy is guilty. An eye for an eye! Fry the dirt bag!!!
A white kid died by injection tonite in Texas for dragging a black kid behind a car until the kid died. Where were all the blacks screaming for his release? He was found guilty and all his appeals failed so now he is at the GATES of HELL
Lawrence Brewer wasn't some "kid" – he was a white supremacist P.O.S. who offered an unsuspecting man named James Byrd a ride home, only to take him instead out to a deserted back road, where he and two other men brutally beat Bryd and then drug him – still conscious – behind their truck for two miles until his head and arm were severed from his body when they hit a culvert. Brewer readily admitted to his crime, and has never expressed regret or remorse. However, there actually are a few people who wanted his life spared – surprisingly, they are the wife and children of James Bryd. Brewer deserved no mercy, but there were those who were willing to show it. Davis at least deserves a chance at that courtesy, given the lack of convincing evidence.
@Regan it is not odd if the police were threatening them with jail, or something worse. I don't know that that happened, but I know it does happen and could be the case here.
You wake up. Obama doesn't care about this. It's up to the state.
Why dont we just let ALL murderers out of jail???
Who said anything about letting him out of jail? Some people don't like the idea of a person being executed without any physical evidence to support his guilt. A conviction based solely on witness testimony is pretty flimsy, given how notoriously unreliable witness testimony is.
Why don't we just let ALL murderers out of jail???
Because not all murderers are black.
exactly. let em run free. Murderers, rapists, burglars, drug dealers. We can all suck on lollipops and float on rainbows, because there are no dangerous people in the whole wide world.
It's SAD how cold people can be SO COLD, But my how the tables would turn if it YOU were #TroyDavis.
I’m willing to BET, if we put ourselves in the Position of the people we so freely convict and JUDGE, the Verdict be much different then. Please don't tell me because he was convicted he had to do it. How many IDIOTS do we come across in our everyday lives?
How many do you think get placed on Juries.
Besides that how many people have you thought looked like someone you knew, calling out their name only to have an awkward moment and the realization that it wasn't them.
Just because 12 people say Guilty, doesn't make it so.
And once convicted yes you get Appeals, but once convicted it’s almost impossible to WIN an appeal.
I’m just disappointed.
Let’s say for a moment he is guilty, Who wouldn’t want forgiveness. LIFE in prison would be better than Death.
Even if he's guilty!!
The bigger Question that should stop all Executions is "WHAT IF HES INNOCENT" that "what if" should be enough to stop this MADDNESS !!!!
Amber – if you want all these murderers to get life in prison, then YOU start paying for their three hot meals a day, FREE healthcare and that big building that has to have electricity, heat/AC, etc. paid for on a monthly basis. Amenities, by the way, that a good majority of LAW ABIDING American citizens do NOT have, yet they have to pay for these scuzbags to get it with their hard earned tax dollars. Perhaps if they knew they were going to the electric chair posthaste for these crimes instead of living a better life on the inside than the outside, some of our crime would go down. If they ARE going to get life in prison, moldy bologna, water and rooms by lamplight should be the best you get.
Rene- FYI, the death penalty is way more expensive than life in prison. Just thought you would want to know that since you're talking about tax payers dollars that it would actually save out money to have them in prison instead of killing them.
If you read up on your facts and costs within the prison system you'd see that the costs included the in process of executing a prisoner are actually higher than keeping them in prison for life without parole. The legal system is so complicated that it actually ends up costing you, the taxpayer, even more. So if the issue of execution is not a moral one but rather an economical one, do your research and then make your decisions.
I do not know if the execution was justified or not, I was not there, and I am not a lawyer – and with that I am left to the judgment of the Supreme Court and 20 years of judicial processes.
Amber, I wonder if you put as much anger and energy in ever wondering about the police officer's family; he didn't get another 20 years – he was left on the pavement. Do you mourn him too?
Yeah, why not? They've done it before.
if the state government murders this man all hell will break lose.
Riots broke out because Rodney King was beaten and people walked, what do you think will happen when a lynching is executed against all rules of the justice system, how are you not allowed to keep swinging from your corner until the bell rings?
What rules of the justice system do you KNOW were broken? The answer is none because none were broken. How do i know that? Appeals to the state and US Supreme Courts were denied. Just cuz Diddy says the legal process was not followed doesn't make it so! Call me crazy, but I trust the nine justices more on legal matters than Sarah Bernhard....
Anyone who riots we get what they deserve in the end it will chance nothing at all.
Who cares if they 'riot'? THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD will stop that, real quick
..you might be right, but it would "break loose" after lunch...cuz the welfare checks get mailed in the moanin'!!
Racism at it's finest! If he was white, it would not even make the news.
Hate to disappoint you but NOTHING broke loose!
You forgot to include Troy's biggest celebrity advocate, Richard Hughes of the band Keane. He's been rallying support for Troy for months. He's @richardkeane on Twitter.
who the hell is "Keane"?
lu, you obviously haven't heard of the great search engine, Google. You can type keane and find your answer.
Then Keane or kuene or kaene can ante up for his room and board. This boy has lost all his appeals and now is literally hanging from a string. Murder is a crime against society and society has spoken
I would NEVER want a MORON like Kim K backing me...she is the dumbest girl on the planet! These people are paid to be a clown for me...so dance clown, don't talk, just be the clown you are paid to be and mind your own friggin business!
Most of these "celebrities" are barely literate. Who the hell cares what they think?
It's kind of sad really. Social media is the quickest way for people to get heard, but the question is does it really han an affect in other aspects.
It worked well for the West Memphis 3. More power to them.
Scary when celebrities and the public and media think they can usurp the legal process of a jury and the courts. He was judged by a jury of his own peers and the courts have confirmed it over and over. If there had been doubt, the jury would have had a different result. Celebrities, public and media did not sit through the trial, here all the witnesses and evidence. THAT us what determined his fate. To declare him innocent in the arena of media is like sticking your nose up to justice. If we just listen to the media and celebrity opinions, our justice system will become as willy-nilly as the short marriages of the celebrity.
eileen–perhaps you need to look at who really usurped the legal process. davis was asked to prove his innocence... which does indeed turn the legal process upside down, when innocence is assumed until guilt proven. maybe it's you who needs to do the reading up.
Gotta love all of these STUPID people that have done nothing to look into the case and have bought that he is not guilty. Anybody aware that a pair of Troy's shorts were found with MCPhail's blood on them were found in the dryer of Troy's home? It was illegally gained evidence. It still shows he did it. There were 34 witnesses, not 9 that testified against him. Troy was convicted of 2 shootings that day and the bullets matched at both crime scenes. His friend told the exact gun shot injuries that actually happened to McPhAIL before the types of injuries were release to the public. Hmmmmmm. seems like we have one guy about to die for his crime who claims he didn't do it. SHOCKING!!!!
cn: "davis was asked to prove his innocence... which does indeed turn the legal process upside down, when innocence is assumed until guilt proven. maybe it's you who needs to do the reading up."
He was asked to prove his innocence once he was found guilty.
Well a jury heard evidence in OJ and Anthony cases that people not there didn't hear and they were acquitted. So following the logic of a lot of posts on this blog that means everyone should just accept that the jury knows more than them about OJ and Anthony and let it go.
@Eileen Yes, Troy Davis was tried and convicted – and sentenced to death. However, fortunately, there are ways to remedy incorrect convictions and sentences. I suppose it's okay with you that innocent people have been executed because they were found guilty by a jury of their peers? Eh... Me? It's not okay with me. Just because the legal system works a certain way does not mean it is always just.
@Mike I remember the incident being reported and the trial when it occurred and I never thought Davis was guilty. I was a police officer for many years and never want someone who kills an officer to go free – but I DO want the correct person to be tried and to spend the rest of their lives in prison. I am anti death penalty. There is far too much doubt – and has been ever since the trying of this case – to execute Troy Davis for the crime. In fact, one of the two who haven't recanted is/was a suspect but he pointed at Davis.
To "Squid", Race riots?? Really? This is your answer?
No one should be listening to ANY celebrities. EVER. Sampson Teal you and Squid have a lot in in common. One white, one black but the same IQ.
All of these celebrities are losers. Just like Troy.
Tweet this rapper BOI, the cop killer is DEAD.
You are a 9th class POS BOI!!!!!!!
Awesome that there are so many supporters, but let the professionals do their jobs. Just like politics, there is so much propaganda surrounding stories like this. The general public has no clue what is actually happening. I don't necessarily agree with the death penalty, but it's the law in that state, just like others must obey the law in the state they live in. My thoughts and prayers are with both families.
I love how these celebs know all the facts and have the urge to plead a killer to be pardoned. Especially Kim Kardashian should really keep her mouth shut since her dad helped to keep OJ another murderer out of jai.
They found the stepfather of the mutilated boy and his alibi's at the crime scene. The WM3's was not found. No other evidence was ever found against them other than the confession of a retarded boy who got pretty much everything in his confession wrong. Three neighbors, who the fat lazy cops never interviewed, came forward and swore they saw the boys with the stepfather that day when he claims he never saw them. The mother of the mutilated boy had suspected the stepfather was molesting him. The stepfather went on to beat her then shoot her brother for trying to defend her. There was good reason for people to question what happened to the WM3. If the case against this guy was as trumped up and as poorly investigated as the WM3 people should have been speaking out against his execution.
I don't know anything about this case at all, but when this many people question the results for sure the death penalty should be stopped completely and he remain in prision until the courts sorted it out. I am not sure how we can kill people when we don't know for sure if they committed the crime. The judicial system makes mistakes every day in the United States. How you can put people to death with a system that is flawed just does not make sense.
OJ was innocent.
His son Jason did the murders.
Google "OJ Guilty but not of Murder"
Our national justice system is a tragic embarrassment.
CN-They were asked to prove his innocence after he had recieved due process. It was not upside down.
Celebs should stick to entertaining and leave real issues to real people.
Lets rally for a cop killer. Oh wait that is in all their songs....
The witnesses that spoke at the trial have stated that their testimony was false and was coerced by the police. the ballistic expert at the trial said he had reason to doubt if Troy Davis had a link to the shooting. troy throughout the process has maintained his innocence. No jury was able to hear the doubts or the fact that the witnesses admitted lieing. Under the new american terrorist laws, it has become far more difficult for murders to be overturned without DNA proof. The judge even refused to allow Davis to take a polygraph test to prove his innocence. There are too many questions and the system has worked against Davis the entire process. This isnt justice.
Wow you are so ignorant!
This is a rather wild statement.. do you refer to all people on the planet, yourself included?
Wow, black people sure are dumb.
