The Primetime Emmy Awards are ready to launch at 8 ET tonight on Fox, and two of the major players in this year's awards show are "Mad Men" and "Boardwalk Empire."
The latter HBO show already snapped up seven Creative Arts Emmys, and it's up for the outstanding drama show award. But, the Prohibition-era program has to face off against three-time category winner "Mad Men," which snagged 19 nods.
"Boardwalk's" Steve Buscemi and "Mad Men's" Jon Hamm are competing in the outstanding actor in a drama series category, as well. The two will have competition from "Friday Night Light's" Kyle Chandler, "Dexter's" Michael C. Hall, "House's" Hugh Laurie and "Justified's" Timothy Olyphant (but not Bryan Cranston, whose "Breaking Bad" didn't air in time to be eligible).
On the comedy side, "Modern Family" seems to be the favorite to beat out "Parks and Recreation," "Glee," "The Office," "30 Rock" and "The Big Bang Theory."
"The Office's" Steve Carell is up once again for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series, but it's also his last opportunity at bat for this role - and we're expecting that he'll finally take the win.
Tonight's host Jane Lynch is nominated for an outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series Emmy, but she's also facing off against her "Modern Family" co-stars Sofia Vergara and Julie Bowen.
The outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series category, though, hosts four of "Modern Family's" actors: Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Ed O'Neill and Jesse Tyler Ferguson. We think O'Neill will take the win.
On the drama side, keep an eye on the outstanding lead actress category - we think "Mad Men's" Elisabeth Moss will snag the Emmy, but she's up against Julianna Margulies ("The Good Wife"), Connie Britton ("Friday Night Lights"), Mariska Hargitay ("Law and Order: SVU"), Mireille Enos ("The Killing") and Kathy Bates ("Harry's Law").
So, take a look at the rest of our guesses, and place your bets for winners below.
