Lil Wayne tops Billboard with 964,000 soldNever mind his apparent affection for animal print pants: Lil Wayne's officially landed at the top of the Billboard 200 chart. According to Billboard, Weezy's album "Tha Carter IV," which went on sale digitally immediately following the MTV Video Music Awards on August 28, bowed at No. 1 this week. It's the third No. 1 for Lil Wayne, who previously accomplished the feat with "Tha Carter III" and "I Am Not A Human Being."
Despite being leaked - and garnering not-so-favorable reviews - "Tha Carter IV's" sales totaled to 964,000 units sold, making it the biggest sales week for a hip-hop album, or from a male artist, since Wayne's "Tha Carter III." (That album sold 1.01 million when it debuted in June 2008.) It looks like the rapper was right about the album's leaks not really being a bad thing. "It just means people want to hear it," he told MTV. "I mean, 'cause there're people's albums that come out that can be leaked and don't leak, so I'm glad mines leaked."

Eminem's music has never been crap. Maybe one album wasn't that great but some of Em's best music came when he was pilled up and high. And who cares anyway. He has earned the right to make the choice to do drugs if he chooses. Do you think he really cares about people's opinions about him when he's chillin in his big ass house with piles of cash which allow him to do whatever he wants? What people really should be looking at is how our government pushes education down our throats and when we get degrees we still can't find work. Yet people who drop out of high school learn how to rap and make a lavish life for themselves and we hate on them for it. They obviously are smarter than most high school and college graduates because they found something that makes them rich without needing an education to do so.... I think the hate comes from people who wish they were smart enough to do the same. Period.
Steve you're right. Rap was so much better back when Biggie and Pac were still around. The game has gone to crap since then. The only real artist that has kept it afloat is Eminem. He can't do it alone though. When you got idiots like Kanye running around its bound to be bad!!!

if you look at his overall career, Lil Wayne is not trash. Unfortunately, his downfall came with auto-tune and all that rock music (and by downfall i mean in music quality, not sales). Just like Eminem when he was pilled up, his music sucked. When Lil Wayne went crazy with his codiene, his music sucked. He is making somewhat of a turn around to his old days, but he is just going with the generations. He puts out what people wanna hear. I only like about 40% of the carter IV, but with that said, I'm only 1 person out of the 900,000+ people that bought it. 10 out of 10 times i will listen to his "Hot Boyz" or "tha drought" mixtapes over what hes put out in the last 3 yrs. But the man is selling records and is just a money making machine. Can't hate a dude for being fully on his grind in literally every aspect possible. If there's a way he can put money in his pocket, hes donig it. I just wish he made a full CD like the old days – 4 verses on every track just going in, most of em without a hook, JUST BARS AFTER BARS.
He's #1 on the Billboard Chart- meaning he sold more this week than Adele, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and so on.

You can top the charts by selling 50,000 albums out the gate if it's released at the right time. It means nothing. The true test is where the album will be 2 weeks from now, a month from now.

It's really sad that this many people actually like Lil Wayne's "music." He was at Bonnaroo this year (a huge music festival in Tennesse if you don't know), and as I expected, he sounds completely awful when it is just him, some beats, and a mic. It's all opinion when it comes to music, but I am a huge hip-hop fan and have absolutely no interest in Lil Wayne's album. There are plenty of good hip-hop artists out there and Lil Wayne is not one of them by a long shot. Don't confuse album sales for talent.

Even with a collage degree, u might not even be able to take care of ur self in the long run. Either ur dead or in a senior home dealing with nurses. Well cds actually sound better if you have a stage 3 or 4 audio system in your car. An audiophile can hear the frequency ranges in an ipod, mp3 or a cd. Cds may still be of value in this enthusiast market much like vinyl going forward.
