HLN's Nancy Grace to take the 'Dancing' stageShe’s known for her passion and strong point of view on her namesake HLN show. But on the next season of "Dancing with the Stars," Nancy Grace will unleash her quickstep and her tango. The legal commentator was one of 12 celebrities announced for the 13th season of the hit ABC show, which premieres September 19. Joining Grace to compete for the Mirrorball trophy are: David Arquette – The eccentric actor hopes to place the Mirrorball on his trophy case next to the WCW World Heavyweight Championship title belt he inexplicably won in 2000. Chaz Bono – The actor, writer and activist was a contestant on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club” in 2008. Carson Kressley – The stylist and TV personality served as “fashion savant” on Bravo’s “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.” J.R. Martinez – The retired soldier and motivational speaker has played Brot Monroe on “All My Children” since 2008. Ron Artest – Of course, the controversial basketball star could be competing as “Metta World Peace” if his name change gets approved before or during the tournament. Rob Kardashian – Will the reality TV star do better than sister Kim, who finished 11th in the fall 2008 season of “Dancing”? Chynna Phillips – The singer hopes to hold on for more than just one day on the dance floor. Elisabetta Canalis – The Italian actress and TV host is best known to U.S. audiences for her two-year relationship with George Clooney, which came to an end earlier this year. Hope Solo – The U.S. women’s World Cup soccer goalkeeper could join the long list of athletes who’ve had success on the “Dancing” floor. Kristin Cavallari – The "Hills" star hopes her run on “Dancing” lasts longer than her hosting gig on “Get the Party Started,” which lasted all of two weeks on UPN in 2006. Ricki Lake – The actress and talk show host might be preparing for her first dance at her wedding reception. Lake announced her engagement to jewelry designer Christian Evans earlier this month. I think Nancy Grace is wonderful. She only tells it like it is! She is very intellegent and nothing gets by her. She has been through a lot of adversity in her life time and has turned it around for the good. Shame on all of you who find it so easy to criticize her. Nearly all of the "stars" are dramatic or controversial, and at that, LIBERAL. I heard Nancy Grace during the Casey Anthony trial and was disgusted. She's in no way fair, or balanced or anything but instigative. Ricki Lake? Really? Chaz? Metta World Peace? ROFL. I'm not saying all of these people don't have good intentions and all that, but they're also all drowning in the deep end of the CRAZY pool. This line-up doesn't strike well with "conservative" or "family friendly" anymore. I won't be watching :/

The only dance Nancy Grace can do is the tap dance she does to people on her show when she asks a question AND then interupts them to give her own answer as if she's right all the time.Why is she so rude and discounts everyone around her, I bet her kids will grow up scared to talk. and..Hey, Nancy Grace does a lot to help kidnapped children. She stays on those stories so those children won't be forgotten. I appreciate her for doing that. She really does care about those children. She can get on my nerves when she is too "Mrs. Prosecuter", but that's what she did for a living for many years. Disgusting choices this season. All about the ratings and no standards. I would HATE to be one of the dancers wasting my talents on this trashy show.
How quickly we forget. There was considerable vitriole in previous seasons when it was announced that Kate Gosselin and Bristol Palin were going dancing. I remember reading many, many comments similar to the negative ones posted here. And guess what? Those seasons also topped the ratings. Controversy is part of this show... it's what the producers are going for because it does pique people's interest. I remember thinking: "Kelly Osbourne? Ballroom dancing? Are you kidding?" but she showed a lot of heart and was fun to watch. Don't pre-judge the entire season and cast before they even step onto the dance floor. I'll watch, I'll vote and in the end, I hope the best dancer wins.
Well at least they have done away with the weight limit for the show's contestants. Perhaps a two-step face plant will finally shut Nancy Grace's mouth.

I'm oddly okay with most of this line-up. I love J.R. Martinez on All My Children, and considering his backstory, I think he'll become a fan favorite. I don't even mind Nancy Grace. It's an eclectic mix of people, which should make it interesting. The only one I could do without is the Italian gal, "best known to U.S. audiences for her two-year relationship with George Clooney." Wow, dating George Clooney makes you a star? Fail!

This is a good decent DWTS list. How about race car drivers like Jeff Gordon or CNN Reporters like Anderson Cooper for future shows? I would be concerned about the DWTS ratings during this one season. They need to have very exciting results shows and a good list of entertainers to boost up the ratings.

I am so excited to see Chaz Bono and see if he takes this opportunity to enlighten poeple in this country about gender transitions- and I'm sure he will since he's such an amazing advocate and voice for this. People that go through gender transitions go through so much- first the traumatic experience of being forced in to a box you know doesn't fit and then having to "come out" to your family and friends, many of which will shut you out of their life for being who you are. It is not a pleaseant experience for transgendered folk, nor is it something they do for kicks. 50% of transgendered youth will attempt suicide. All you on here calling Chaz a freak and condemning him are clear examples of why. And for the recored- HE wil be dancing with a female dancer. Don't be so ignorant and hateful to say otherwise. If you're not sleeping with him, why should you care what's going on in his pants? I guarantee you everyone has had interactions with a transgendered person- you just may not have known it. I'm glad to see JR Martinez on DWTS. Most people probably don't know him but he is a descent actor and has plays a great character on AMC (silly show, I know but he is the one bright spot). Interesting background too. I wish him luck.

I will be watching...if for no other reason than to support JR Martinez. This man is a national hero. He was badly injured while serving our country but came back and is an inspirational speaker as well as a star on All My Children. I've watched every season, but the one with Donny Osmond (just not a fan). This season doesn't have a line-up that I'm really crazy about (other than J.R.), but I'll watch and call in and vote for him every week he's on.

I just thrilled there are no professional dancers, singers who had dance lessons to dance in their videos, ice skaters, etc. Don't care for the list of dancers either, but at least this is getting back to what I thought the show was about - taking a known name out of their element and teach them how to dance.

I once loved this fun, little show. Now, it's a gimmicky freak show with phoney results. Haven't watched it in 3 years. I guess it's for the 'Wipeout' crowd. I haven't watched for the past two seasons because of lack of true "Stars" on the show. However, in spite of the other lackluster contestants this year I would like to see how Nancy does. In spite of the many rude and offensive comments about her being posted here – she is a compassionate person. She fights for what she believes in and champions the victims in a society that at times protects the villian at the cost of justice. Also, Nancy has written a couple of decent murder mystery novels that are actually quite entertaining. She isn't just another empty head. Melodramatic at times but I do believe she is honest and sincere in her causes.

Looks like I'm on lonely ground, but I think the lineup is great! Super casting job. I don't particularly care for Nancy Grace, but people that love her will watch and people that hate her will watch to see her fall on her face. Transgendered people are still rare enough that Chaz will draw interest from the enlightened as well as the prejudiced. There are a few beauties to look at, sports stars to root for, or not, reality star, and even a minor film star. Most are controversial and have been in the news recently. Nancy Grace can be a bit 'extreme' in her presenation at times, but her heart's in the right place. I can think of no other person who does more for missing children.

They have decided that the best way to get ratings is to include controversial contestants who, for the most part, haven't got a chance of winning. To the creature that posted, quite a few times throughout this thread, that Nancy Grace "at least" is donating her proceeds to charity, and you wish any other "Star" would do this–did you not even watch the above video? In said video, NBA player Ron Artest mentions his daughter, who had cancer when she was four, and how he is donating ALL of his proceeds to cancer charities. Many other previous cast members have donated to charities of their personal choice. Sorry–Nancy Grace did not invent this phenomenon, though she would surely like people to believe as such. Nancy Disgrace is an absolute joke and needs to be removed from television all together. Who wants to see this hateful nut on what is supposed to be a fun family show? I've personally never cared for the show but they have gone to a whole new low with adding Nancy Disgrace. I'd watch if they would have partnered her up with Casey Anthony...now that would be worth viewing.

DWTS is my 2nd favorite show and I try not to miss an episode. I will definitely be watching this season and every season they have after. It dosen't matter to me who the "Celebrities" are. I think the Professional's are the real Star's, especially Max! As for Nancy Grace you can hate her all you want but you know who she is and judging by the attention she's getting and bringing that same attention to ABC/DWTS just proves they made wise choice by picking her just look at the comments.. she got yours and the media's attention.. I'm sure 98% of the people who say they not gonna watch will not miss an episode and the other 2% will you tube it the next day!!! I hope she gets Max I want to see him break thur that hard as steel body armor she has, break her down and rebuild her... although she's not my favorite person and I disagree with almost everything she has to say, it is an sxcellent choice. This will be my first year to boycott DWTS. This has become a freak show, not a dance contest. The point was to highlight dancing, not controversial non stars. Between Nancy Grace, some Kardashian man, and Chas Bono, the focus is on the personality well beyond the hope of being a dancer. This has just become a ratings fiasco. Shame on ABC. Shame and more Shame.
I really know about 4 of those people on DWTS. The rest don't matter to me and that is a problem with the show....they get a lot of "stars" that nobody really knows. I have watched less and less.

Nancy, I gotta say...sometimes my Lord asks me to step out of my comfort zone and do something I don't want to do. I have never watched this show but for some reason, I wanted to see you perform since the advertisement caught my attention. Could I do that? I'm your over achiever middle age woman with grown kids and you inspire me to be brave and go for whatever Christ asks me to do...You are brave! For that alone I applaud you and all women in America should recognize you have the courage to make us try for our dreams, regardless if they like you or not.
I agree. Nancy is no dancer. What really upsets me is that she has her private commercials on CNN, a prime time news station. They repeat every day over and over again "vote for Nancy, you can vote several times". Of course all the other dancers have no chance. What about them? Even when you win it was only because you are permanently promoted by CNN and not because you are a great dancer. If you believe you are great you must also believe that Casey Anthony is innocent.
