Ross Mathews, known as “Ross the Intern” to fans of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” and “Chelsea Lately,” has parlayed his popularity into a development deal with E!, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
With this deal in place, Mathews is set to create a pilot for his own talk show with the network.
“It really is the time and I feel like I’m ready now,” Mathews, 31, tells The Hollywood Reporter of developing his own talk show pilot with Chelsea Handler’s production company, Borderline Amazing Productions. “I know how to speak to the audience. I know how to speak to celebrities. And I know my point of view.”
With his new deal, Mathews will also officially be one of E!’s featured talents. “I’ve been earning my stripes for the past decade,” he said of appearing on shows like “Chelsea Lately,” “After Lately,” “E! News” and “Live from the Red Carpet.”
Additionally, "Ross the Intern" and his signature high voice have appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Fit Club,” guest hosted on “The View,” appeared on “Days of our Lives,” and hawked Jenny Craig.
“When people see my face," Ross said, "I want them to say, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s Ross from E!’ and ‘I know where to tune in to see him.’ ”
Just saw his'fill-in' interview on Chelsea Lately. He ROCKED it. And, I absolutely thought he should have his own show even before I saw this article!
sorry, but his voice is like scratching your nails on a chalkboard. What are those people thinking of.
Howdy everyone! I love Ross, the intern. He is hysterical. Good for him!
Ross the Intern huh? Wow. Does Leno have to steal EVERYTHING from Stern? How freaking pathetic!

I'm happy for him. I caught a recent episode of Chelsea where he filled in for her and I thought he did a great job. Much funnier and more personable than the host.
