MTV to debut plus-size reality starThere’s a new MTV starlet in town, but this isn't just another Lauren Conrad. The network will debut a new reality series in October, and while it features a familiar premise – girl moves to a big city to pursue fashion – newcomer Chelsea Settles is not only battling the transition, but also her weight. She weighs 324 lbs. The network describes Settles, 23, as "a new kind of MTV heroine.” The show will follow the recent college grad as she arrives in Los Angeles from a small town near Pittsburgh, and will chronicle issues like her long-distance boyfriend, social phobias and weight loss. The docu-drama appears to be a viewer-friendly blend of reality dramas like “The Hills" and weight loss programs like “I Used to be Fat” or “The Biggest Loser.” “Chelsea Settles” premieres with a special hour-long episode on Oct. 11 at 11:00 p.m ET, and you can watch the trailer here. Will you tune in?

Pauly created a new definition for the word “twinning.” Merriam-Webster is going to have to add “scoring with twins” beneath “to bring together in close association” on the pre-existing twinning entry. On second thought...the original definition might be sufficient. Maggie Gyllenhaal wants to talk to you about sexEver wondered why women have orgasms? Well, Maggie Gyllenhaal wants to school you. New photos from 'Breaking Dawn - Part I'Even more photos from "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part I" have been released, and my, are these two characters playing a lot of chess. But the still shots also reveal more of the film's newlywed couple - vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) - romping around in the water and a little of what looks like wedding prep. If you know anything about the film's plot, you know that it revolves majorly around Bella's wedding, honeymoon and subsequent pregnancy, and we're guessing we also get to see her "WTF I'm pregnant?!" look in these stills. The movie opens on November 18. Friday's Top Five: Movie speechesA lot of politicians have started polishing their oratory skills, seeing that party nominations and debates are just around the corner, but few of their speeches are able to produce misty eyes from cynics. Clearly, their staff writers could use an ounce of Hollywood in their final drafts. Candidate hopefuls should be aiming for the passion of "Braveheart’s" William Wallace without going too far like Howard Dean in 2004. (A great speech should motivate us, inspire us, but definitely not scare us.) |
