Ahead of the Curve: Weekly pop culture calendar

Anne Hathaway may not think she has what it takes to host the Oscars, but her acting career is chugging right along.

The 28-year-old is starring in the adaptation of the David Nicholl's novel "One Day," which opens in theaters Friday. Co-starring Jim Sturgess, the movie follows a couple who spent the day of their college graduation together and captures where they are in life on that same date each year.

Here's what else is happening this week:

Sunday

  • First up on the telly tonight is the "CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock" on ABC at 8 p.m. The three-hour throwdown will feature performances from Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band and "Idol" winner Scotty McCreery.
  • If you need a little laughter in the midst of the crooning, Fox's new sketch comedy show "In the Flow with Affion Crockett" premieres tonight at 9 p.m.

Monday

  • "Masterchef" is close to naming its champion: The top 4 are competing tonight for a spot in the finals at 9 p.m. on Fox.
  • Also tonight at 9 p.m., Patti Stanger is back with season 5 of "Millionaire Matchmaker" on Bravo. If you're still in the mood to watch the lives of singletons after that, don't miss "Most Eligible Dallas," which premieres at 10 p.m.

Tuesday

  • The new season of "Dexter" doesn't begin until October 2, but season 5 is on sale today if you want to start refreshing your memory.
  • Also out on DVD today is the Michael Fassbender and Mia Wasikowska-starring adaptation, "Jane Eyre."
  • Oscar winner Jeff Bridges is dropping a self-titled album today, a country-pop record that reminds you why you liked the soundtrack to "Crazy Heart" so much.
  • It's a wrap on "Masterchef" - the season 2 finale is tonight at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Wednesday

  • We're dropping in a Paul Rudd related announcement simply because we can: The "Our Idiot Brother" actor and "The Help" star Jessica Chastain are on "Conan" tonight at 11 p.m.

Thursday

  • "One Day" actress Anne Hathaway makes a stop by the "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" tonight at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central. We're hoping for more hints about "The Dark Knight Rises."

Friday'

  • "Conan the Barbarian," starring Jason Momoa as the titular warrior, rolls into theaters this weekend alongside Alton Yelchin and Colin Farrell's "Fright Night."

And whoever wrote this article needs to go back and re-read the cast list for Fright Night. Its ANTON Yelchin not ALTON Yelchin! Idiot.
