The Queen of Soul got some R-E-S-P-E-C-T from law enforcement on Monday night, according to the New York Post.
While out to dinner with her entourage at Neely's Barbecue Parlor in New York City, Aretha Franklin noticed a meter maid about to ticket her illegally-parked car. So she did what any reasonable diva would do - she started singing.
After being serenaded, the officer resisted issuing a ticket, and instead passed the star an envelope to autograph.
The restaurant’s owners, Food Network stars Pat and Gina Neely, also recognized the soul singer, and gifted her with a recipe book. Aretha already owned a copy, so she graciously signed the book and returned it.
