Martha Stewart rides a HarleyShe’s the last person we’d picture as the biker type, but on Friday, Martha Stewart hopped on a hog. The domestic diva posted a picture of herself on a Harley and tweeted about her ride to Bangor, Maine. “We are off!!!” Martha wrote about taking to the road on a friend’s Harley-Davidson CVO Ultra Road Glide. “What fun!”
Martha (of course) wore a helmet, and yes, she let us know what brand. “My orange helmet is harley high visibility clothing,” she tweeted. And for those preppy bikers out there, “my gold desert boots are j crew last year.” Her ties to the biker community apparently aren’t new; there’s a 2005 thread on the Harley Davidson Forum titled “is Martha Stewart sexy??” |

Way to go Martha, I hope you enjoyed the road!
She is very brave
So? who care about age? Enjoy your ride! Live up to it!
She's riding a bike that's 20 years behind the rest of the market in terms of technology! Way to go....
You go girl, love j crew.
I think its pretty cool that women are starting to really get out there. this is just as much a womans world as it is a mans. To many men out there with egos to match. I say go girls!
I have a glide martha u can get a ride any day
@gensengjohn ~ Thanks for serving and continuing to ride! You are an inspiration to all! Telling all not to give up!
you go Martha, even good girls ride harleys! Been there & done that
BadAssss[:
Alright go martha!! isn't that fun? we ride too & there a blast! hug's rachel in arlington, wa
Now I have seen it all !!! lol
Martha's been to prison and now she's ridden a Harley. Maybe next she can get a cool tatoo!
The Harley is a very smooth and vibration free ride for both the short and long ride. Its also very good on gas. I am a disabled Vet and am able to ride my Harley across the country from NY to Fla and across to Calif. When you want to enjoy the trip take a Harley!
She looks cool
Martja lools younger
She's a bit out of my age range for her being 70 yrs old (she was born in 1941), but even so I think she looks pretty darned good for her age. She looks like she's in her late 40s or 50s in that top pic.
Back when she was 20 yrs old she definitely had it going on. She would've looked downright amazing on a harley back then.
Next thing you know she'll be riding a Sybian.
She just made riding harleys a little-less cool. Time to find a new hobby.
Too cool...enjoy the ride!
Agree... Enjoy the ride Martha!
Welcome of the real world Harley-Davidson bikes, and enjoy your rides everywhere congratulations and follow the winds
Just her speed... A low, slow and over-priced machine!
You got that right, even if it is a CVO with the 110. She was probably with some part time biker that can't even change his own oil. And a HD helmet apparel? What a waste of money
I have regretted not getting a motorcycle license, there's nothing like riding the open road, but I want to be the rider, not the passenger, most bikers have a real respect for the road which can't be said for other drivers, congrats Martha, hope you get to ride with Rolling Thunder, true patriots!
Wow...another convicted felon on a Hardley...where's the story in that?
You go girl!
(Sorry for duplicates, dang phone). Anyway, this guy kept revin and makin noise so I dedide, oh well, just out for ride but it's on! (oh, I ride a Honda CBR1000RR, full exhaust, nitrous etc) I smiled, when we saw green we both twisted it and he missed 2nd gear but caught me by 3rd. After that I hit the juice and wiped up the street w/ em'. All I saw was him at third light we went through in my rearview. Not safe but was fun. Yall stay up, be safe, be good....
Lol... I rode crotch rockets for years too... did a bunch of track days and a race at barbers motorsports park. I live about 20 miles from there
.... sold my 636 last year since I'm old now and after about an hour in the saddle I would be hurting so bad I would have to go home and lie on the couch. No problem though I bought a nismo z and while I can't go as fast on my favorite roads I can still get that adrenaline rush
. Miss the wheelies though....lol
I'm impressed dude...track days are rough on the body....glad to know you are a racer....you find something new about someone everyday.....even riding for to long makes my legs hurt and cramp junkpile, so I understand the need for the couch......you're not old to me if you are still young at heart to race at Barbers and pop wheelies.....you're the man junkpile......respectable riders should look up to you and want to learn...I do....... be good man.......
Thanks man that means a lot
No doubt junkpile......truly you're one of the true riders and a very admirable man......i'm sure you could tell many GREAT swappin fairing paint and track day, high siding a wheelie, bikes just fallin in the driveway, bikes fallin on you, all kinds of mishaps and stories for days that guys like me love to hear from "true riders"......be good bro........
@Kris- very impressive! That's alot of riding in different conditions, good job, bet you had a blast! I hope she was one of the riders you waved to just for "stories/memories" sake. @Houstonian- yep, that's very important to not be riding something that sounds like a sewing machine. Safer. @I.Mold- sorry bro....no offense about the gender insinuation....stay up, you harley riders are more about being open to others from what ive seen. Sportbike crowd tends to be ummm, just a little judgemental. I'm w/ yall "stay up on two", I stay up on one when able, lol. Just after I read this and commented yesterday I got out and pulled up to the VERY FIRST stoplight, never any bikes there when I sat there before. Cars are all around me and I just give it a rev to check tach, warm up and get fuel map readin good. Outa nowhere I hear another bike rev up hard. I did it again too, then him again. Next I know he's in my lane beside me on a "Monster(energy drink) race replica Kawisaki.

Does it have peddles ?
Not the first time she's sat on a fat one.
And why is any of this important?
I bet she decorated it before she rode it.
That's the difference between a Hoover and a Harley...a Hoover only carries one dirt-bag.
I would suggest she ride a tricycle. I guess I will be seeing her soon. I hope when I do see her, she will have some of those cookies and goodies she so like to bake.
Slow news day? Another convicted felon wanting their additional 15 minutes of fame
Is it just me or have Harley Davidsons become the new mid-life crisis vehicle?
You would be suprised at the number of people in their 20's and 30's that are now riding Harley's and a lot of them ride the baggers. Harley tour bikes with saddlebags. A lot of them customize them and get them really looking great. We see people of all ages on Harley's. The reason most don't ride Harley's or wait till their latter years is they think they can't afford them.
I have no balance. So I will just stay in my big rig and wave when u all ride by. I only put on about 100'000 miles a year but I've been there and there and oh yeah over there. Be safe. And be free.
I think it's very cool that Martha rides a Harley. Hope she's got the screamin' Eagles on it. Loud pipes save lives!
Anyone can can get a Harley – who cares ...
You are welcome.
Martha Stewart – you rock! That is so awesome. I look forward to doing the same thing.
Who ever has the 883 harley at 700lbs full of fuel haha get of. it ya fat hog then weigh it lol
Born to be wild ex-con mama...Get your motor running. head out on the highway. looking for adventure, in whatever comes your way.. You go and ride like an eagle mama Stewart. Sail with the wind. Just don't fall off the bike and become road kill.
Thank you for your beautiful self
Just a publicity stunt. She would never hang out with real bikers.
Why not? Something wrong with us? She'd be welcome to ride with me, and I mean that in a respectful way. Bikers often don't have class distinctions like some groups, and if she truly enjoys riding on a Harley, she probably doesn't worry about the owner's financial status. If she doesn't like riding, she probably wouldn't; I've found that most people seem to either really like them, or are at least a little afraid of them.
Who else hopes that scarf gets caught in the spokes and sucks her whole head it with it? Just sayin'
that's her....see the scarf around her neck?? Only Martha would do that..she's cool...
I hope she falls down when she goes 60 mph...
Trikes are for wussies.
Just remember to say that when you're 70.
Bill you are totally WRONG!!! No Trikes are for those of us who have come to a point in life where our backs or knees will no longer let us take nice long rides on two wheels any longer. I'm a 58 year old grand mother of 6 who has ridden bikes for a long time. Started on mini bikes as a kid, then dirt bikes on our farm. At age 43 I took to the streets riding solo along side my husband. My first bike was a Honda Shadow 600, then a Harley 1200C Sporster, latter a Harley CVO FXR2. After these bikes I had a 100th Aniv. Harley Road King Classic, Harley CVO Fatboy, Harley Street Glide which I customized and now a Harley Tri-Glide Trike. Would love to be out there on two wheels still but my knees will not allow for it. Not good when one comes to a stop, puts their foot down and the knee gives way and you and the bike fall. Better to be safe and on three wheels and still out there riding and having fun than no riding at all. Trikes are not for Wuesses! They are for those of us with problems who still want to be riding.
i bet she has one of those shirts that says "If you can read this, the b@#$ard fell off"...in 100% wrinkle free cotton.
A round of applause for martha!
Up up horay!!!!
It's hip, hip, hooray, Frenchie.
How do I know that's really Martha?
Martha looks fabulous, deservedly so!!
& do remember, Living well IS the best revenge.
SHAME on those who unjustly condemned her.
Good for her! She is 70 now and one of the richest women in America. She should never drive a Harley.
Sit on the porch and knit instead? If she'd try it, bet she'd love a Harley trike. Reading this, Martha? If you think it's fun on the back, try a trike in the driver's seat, way better, and you don't have to worry about balance or the weight. I should be riding right now, instead of reading this stuff, but it's getting ready to rain...
Good point @I.Mold........a trike would be perfect.......it is the style now.....I saw a whole group of just trikes....Honda Goldwings.....Shadows.......Harley's.......Star......It was pretty cool........they were packed up and headin' out for some fun one saturday a.m.
Hi Peace! Hi Charlie! I love Harleys but if I ever got on 1 Id probably skin myself alive and leave gray matter along the way along with a broken helmet with my luck!
Hey @alecia......you be good.......
Exactly.......driving a bike that heavy would drop martha like a bad habit......I race crotch rockets and that is just too much bike for ole martha..........she's tough enough for prison, but not for a 700lb bike fallin' on her........
A 700 lb Harley is much easier for a woman to ride (drive) than a crotch rocket. Lower seat, lower center of gravity. Every woman biker I've talked to (several) preferred Harleys for fit and comfort. The only downside I see to a Harley is the very tall gearing; they don't like creeping around. And quite frankly, a 500 lb crotch rocket would ruin her day falling on her, too. I have a Harley, and a much faster Honda 750, and I'm not much younger than she is. When we get old, get a trike and ride forever.
@I.Mold - Ivy, is that you?
I am impressed......(seriously)....you have knowledge and are a female rider.....you are right any bike would ruin her day if it fell.......mine fell on me, RUINED my day....lol........I see many women riding harley's and it is quite impressive for a female to be seen doing so....I always point it out to my gf...."see her holding on to that cruiser". You are very admirable ma'am.....be safe, stay up.........be good
I'm another female Harley rider (55 years old, so not quite Martha's age). Harleys are heavy (mine is only an 883, but fueled and loaded runs about 700 pounds), but they ride well. Except at very low speeds, they want to stay upright, so that helps.
I just got back from a 2 week, 3,500 mile trip (to Canada, where it was cool and rainy). I rode through Bangor on the way back — wonder if Martha was one of the bikers I waved at!
Sorry, didn't clarify guys – I'm a guy, I've just known some gals that ride, wasn't trying to pretend to be one. And I'm old enough to think Martha looks pretty attractive.
although as a Hawg rider it pains me to see her associated what I ride, Martha could probably easily maneuver a lare HD as they are very well balanced. My wife drivers her own bagger and she is slightly over 120 pounds and BTW, she can also pick up the bike off the ground on her own if ever spills. Very simply puts her back against it and walks it up
I heard she is also into Hummers.
Anybody can ride Martha, but, can you drive 1 ? That I would like to see!
I would like to ride Martha
She looks older than she did a few year years ago.
Uhm, she IS older than she was a few years ago...
She looks dead
Riding a motorcycle makes me FIRSTY!!!!!!!!
