Disney to give Snow White story new spin

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney's oldest fairy tale is getting a Far East reworking for their upcoming movie.

Say goodbye to those silly dwarves -  the "Order of the Seven" will be a warrior-focused version of the legend, in which an English woman goes to Hong Kong for her father's funeral and meets a band of seven international fighters. Upon realizing her evil stepmother is plotting her murder, she turns to the warriors for protection.

Astoundingly, that means there are now three Snow White movies in the making. In addition to Disney’s project, Relativity's still-untitled film - slated for March release - will feature Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen.

Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron star in Universal's grittier “Snow White and the Huntsman, hitting theaters on June 1.

I have the book "Alinda of the Loch". I love the story line, and hope to see the movie soon. It would be a beautiful twist to the old movie "Sleeping Beautiful", which will always be a classic. I feel "Alinda of the Loch" will become the next sequel classic. This is a fabulous book which also introduces the Loch Ness monster and why it disappears and reappears. I can't wait.

This is like when they told Gene Wilder they were remaking Willy Wonka.

Gene said: "whats wrong with Willy Wonka?"

If it isn't broke don' fix it or remake it. I am sad to say we will most likely see the same movies for the next 20 years from decades before it. Originality is dead in hollywood.

not to be a smart***, but NOTHING written before "Astoundingly, that means there are now three Snow White movies in the making. In addition to Disney’s project" in paragraph 3 actually *suggests* there are 3 movies out.

This decade the story is Snow White. Last decade and probably longer it was all about Cinderella.Every Princess gets her reign; Hollywood isn't usually that blatant about it though. It's probably harder to disguise a SW storyline than a Cinderella one though.

so many people complaining about hollywood's unoriginality lately. it's not surprising considering remakes of old fairytales, remakes of old sitcoms, remakes of old movies. if we stop buying tickets and financially supporting these things, maybe hollywood will finally get the hint we want something ORIGINAL

I don't think all of you quite understand that this article is talking about 3 different "Snow White" films...One from Disney (Natalie Portman? and ??), One from Relativity (Lily Colins and Julia Roberts) and One from Universal (Kristin Stewart and Charlize Theron) http://bit.ly/mZ5Xwd

Kristen Stewart is a nasty, ghastly looking h0e. Sure to mess up anything with that dumb look on her face.

  15. Done With This

This idea is getting so tired. Kristen Stewart will mess up her version, Disney is just stupid now, and the other version will just be dominated by Julia Roberts' selfish acting.

@Rerun: Yeah serious writer's block but it can also be too much drugs, and or, lazy thinking. Notice that in this day and age people just want to get by without doing much and sad thing is..they are (look at NJ shore). Is it just the U.S. or has the world gone mad?

They should give Rob Zombie a go at this and make a crazy az$ horror flick where the 7 goes off on a killing spreed, etc and at the end, the witch's head is on a stake outside her castle and Snow White is licking her face. So much ideas one can go with this.

Hollywood never come up with new ideas! The story is old as the hills, they just up date them & piggy back on the other studios! That's why they have to rely on the independents to come up with fresh stuff! Each summer you can count on 2-3 movies with the same theme! I love the story of Snow White & hope atleast 1 of these versions will be worth the ticket!!
