Rebecca Black album out next monthDid you dig Rebecca Black's new song 'My Moment?' If so, there's more where that came from. MTV reports that the teen who found fame with her YouTube hit "Friday" is set to drop her five song-EP next month and just wants fans to know she's serious about her career. "It's crazy to think [about 'Friday']," she told MTV. "I was really nervous about 'My Moment' coming out because I thought, 'I don't think I'll be able to even beat 'Friday' myself.' " Black knows it won't be easy, especially considering the very visceral reaction some had towards "Friday." But she said she's determined to make a go of it. "Again, I wanted people to able to take me seriously because I felt like this would be the right thing to do," she said. "I wanted to start building what could be a really great career, but this industry, it's so unpredictable: You could be the big thing for a month or four months, and then kind of fall off the face of the planet."

I think she becomes popular because of her haters so she must thank them. I read an article that she is back with another video "Person of Interest". Do you think it'll be another hit like Friday?

Roughly about 70% of people are either tone deaf, or have no critical listening skills what so ever. In other words, they listen to what others are saying, and like sheep repeat it. Because, if you go with 70% of what everyone thinks, you can't be wrong right? Wrong. Well, you can be with the "IN" crowd and do what's popular as that is safe. Add this to the fact that most people would rather make themselves feel good by having someone to make fun of, and there you go. People are also a lot like sharks that smell blood in the water. If they think there's food, they all rush over. Like with Rebecca's Friday, it had some clumsy problems with the lyrics, was a "hair dryer" song, had too many effects, and autotune thanks to ARK.
Beyond all of that it was still a very catchy and fun song that was pretty much typical of a hit song. Not the best, but again if not for it's few glitches, was an ok song. But all that led to a popular blogger writing up an article that suggested some people shouldn't write music. This focused more negative energy on friday, and when the ratings dropped, the haters, like sharks, came to visit. The more negative it became, the faster it got worse.
But, then it's on to My Moment. The new song was free of ARK, and also obviously made efforts to avoid burying her voice under auto tune. Finally she could be heard just fine. The only exception was two or three places in the song which put typical filtering effects to make give it a modern sound. Very much similar to what other popular acts might use. However, due to a deep desire on most peoples part to believe she's not singing, they quickly confused it with more autotune. Or were quick to claim it was. Basically the real reason for this exaggeration was to discredit her.
I'm not saying she's Mariah Caraey, or a great singer, but that there was really nothing wrong with how she sang "My Moment". The real issue was that people want to believe the new song is no good. Because what's the fun in hating if it's not that bad? And an exaggerator will quickly claim it's sheet. Because if you say it's complete sheet, and hold her up to some near impossible, golden standard, then of course by comparison it seems believable.
But the reality is that Rebecca Black's singing on her new song is about right in the middle of the current, pop culture's level of talent. If you're not so negative, it sounds pretty good. If she were a different girl, and/or had never recorded Friday first, people might be on a different path. For example, just thinking, oh, she's just a young girl singing. Ok, nice. But now it's like, OH NO, It's Rebecca! Better write something nasty. And some are like on a secret mission, or so they think, to "save" the music industry etc etc. There's nothing she can do, or anyone can do. Or put it this way. There' s nothing from stopping other talented people from also putting out videos. You see, most people say they could do it, or know someone who could do what Rebecca is doing. Fact is, if they really could, they WOULD have. Rebecca is where she's at because of her focus, positivity, dedication, and courage to push her talent ahead. And yes, she does have an average level of talent, especially for a 14 year old. And by average, I mean average within the music industry. Also, how many people are willing to believe in their dream that much, and willing to get off their lazy butts and go out there and believe as in themselves as she does? Not many. After getting only 10,000 haters, most people would pull their video off and cry in their room. But she knew it was a catchy song, and also could see people were buying it. So yeah, Rebecca has guts to fight off what amounts to a bad start and a bunch of haters. I'm not a bit afraid to go against the crowd and admit it.

This is NO surprise. The music industry is controlled by the same people pushing their agenda to dumb-down America and make you into music zombies with no substance. If she really starts to get up there with the likes of Britney and Lady Gaga, we'll see her throwing up the satanic hand signs like all the other music puppets.

It's not really using auto tune. THAT is why her voice sounds vastly different from what it was like in Friday. First it starts with her voice that's far more clear than ever before. It does use some filter effects in the middle and end, but that's to give it a modern sound. But of course haters will claim they can just "hear" the auto tune in it. That's BULL. I work a studio and there is nothing that sounds like she's using that. In fact, people who record the tracks for an album try to avoid auto tune when trying to sound natural because it basically makes the notes very quantized sounding. It's far easier to record the same track AGAIN, or do another take if the singer makes a pitch error. Also the way Rebecca is singing, would not lend itself to a good autotuned session because of the way the notes change. What you just wrote, is a perfect example of people who parrot each other that I was writing about below.

she might be getting rich and famous but it IS NOT from raw talent. there are thousands of talented individuals who don't get their time to shine unfortunately. Yes shes getting a lot of youtube hits and is making $$ but that does not mean she deserves it.

@Adriana, BOO HOO, she doesn't deserve it, boo, SNIFF. Oh please. Give it a rest. First off there is no such thing as a "deserving" committee that sits around and decides these things. But second, what you are doing is whining. If anything you have it BACKWARDS. Rebecca absolutely deserves it because she has enough talent to sing, and then she ALSO IN ADDITION has enough courage, dedication, GUTS and is driven to do what she's doing. She's willing to do this even though there more haters than she deserves. My Moment is a FINE song. Not the best, but it's just fine. It absolutely does NOT deserve the level of hate it's receiving. Rebecca is where she's at because SHE made choices that caused her to be in the position she's now in. SHE DID THAT! It's easy to watch someone and claim it's easy to do, but talk is cheap. So, I'd say she deserves what she has 100% at this point. Also, anyone is allowed to record a video and put it out. It's not like $4000 was a lot anyway. Some new artists spend upwards of a million to get started. Finally, no one puts a gun to someone's head and forces them to watch or listen to her. Rebecca did it, and deserves ever last sale she gets on this.

I think that she's no worse than the Taylors and the Biebers out there. She definitely have charisma, the camera is definitely her friend, she's very pretty (granted, the teeth have to whitened ASAP!), and at least dances better and more than Britney right now. Her releasing an album is a travesty. It was only a matter of time before such a things happened. I am embarassed to even live in the same city as this girl and even more saddened by the fact that I know her family.

i never paid to hear rebekka black and i do not see myself doing so in the near future BUT Katy Perry makes up a song eerily similar to Blacks "Friday", almost on the same level of irritableness yet Perry pulls it off, Black gets ridiculed for about the same level of stupidity. i say give the kid a break, people are way to harsh on her and give Perry a pass when her Firday song is just about as bad. the crowd is easily manipulated by what is deemed cool or uncool. people have stopped using their brains. so kid o, keep singing and don't listen to the crowd but i probably wont buy your cd for most of the music on todays top 10 is not my style anyways.

Rebecca, as a teen, has done a pretty good job with my moment. Even as an adult it would be pretty good. Sure no one is perfect, but when someone has to knock someone else down to feel good, THAT's how I know that person has real issues.
