Gene Simmons proposes to Shannon TweedIt looks like Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed have managed to smooth things over. The longtime couple got into a tiff so nasty on "The Joy Behar Show" in mid-June that it won a spot on our list of the top 10 best interview "walk-offs." You see, Simmons, lothario that he's rumored to be, joined in a joke about his philandering ways, ticking Tweed off so much that she stormed off the set. But in an upcoming episode of "Gene Simmons Family Jewels," the KISS star is trying to put a ring on his love of 28 years.
As seen in a clip of the show, Simmons sets up a romantic scene with Tweed by heading to Belize. He tells her, "I come with so much baggage, but you're the only friend I've got, you're the only one I've ever loved...I've never said those words to anybody. It's funny, I used to watch movies where they say I can't live without you, but for me it's true." And then Simmons drops down on one knee as Tweed gives a gasp of surprise. Although she looks like she's about to shed tears of what we hope is joy, the clip ends before we get to see her answer. We've got an idea on how it all plays out, but you'd have to watch the episode tonight on A&E at 10 p.m. to find out.

First off, the common law 7-year is a myth. And only 16 states recognize it – California is not one of them. Check it out on many websites. And it's only good in those states "if you hold yourself out" to be married – such as telling the community. They didn't. For whatever reasons they stayed together, kids, cash, whatever – it's their business.

I guess most people are not realizing that not only is Tweed an awesome Mom and always stood by Her Man BUTTTT seems to me that she has also made herself a nice fortune.. Gene has always had a goal in life to do all that he can to take care of his Family financially, the family that Shannon taught how to LOVE!!

Gene appears to be a very nice person and Shannon is just so cute. They seem to have done a great job raising their kids... while it may have all been for the show, I am excited for their family and especially for Shannon. I am totally impressed by these two and their success together. I have been with my husband for 30 years. Married for 26 of those and believe me it hasn't all been a rock concert. I do enjoy this show and wish them all the best and cannot wait for the wedding. Gene is a generous man and best of all a PATRIOT! I love that most about him. Too bad all who come to our country couldn't express their love and appreciation for this GREAT LAND OF OURS like he does. I would love to just hang out with them for a day... they are genuine.

I don"t believe that this season was staged . First of all they have to have loved each other to have raised two beautiful kids who have grown up to be solid grounded individuals. Gene is someone stuck in his ways who refused to change until he had no other choice. He realized he was about to loose the family he couldn't live without. Shannon is a gorgeous women who devoted herself to raising her kids and making a real home life for all of them. Do you think this happened by accident .No it takes is hard work and devotion to achieve that. She is not a gold digger by any means , if that were true she would have been gone ages ago. I think she was ready to stand up for herself and get what she probably wanted from the very beginning. She deserves to be happy and Gene knows this.

I love how none of you have even mentioned love. People stick around for 28 years out of love. Believe me, there is no other reason in the world to stick around on either person's part. They love each other and they love their children. It's obvious. Love isn't seldom if ever perfect, but it is one of the most powerful forces in the world. Whatever their motivations for airing this on television, I don't believe either of them are that good as actors. There was some powerful stuff on the part of their children as well. To set either person up as a villain is counter-productive. Regardless of what he makes or who he is, he is only human. So is she. So are their kids. Give them the benefit of the doubt and be happy for them at this time. One more American family is working on survival. Simply wish them well while they do.
You guys are all crazy. It's all a publicity stunt. Even the show is mostly scripted. I walked into Bristol Farms in West Hollywood and they were in there with the crew shooting a scene (Bristol Farms is a high end Grocery Store). They would shoot the scene over and over, like a movie. Sure, they are a long time couple, but a lot of this drama is just to keep interest in the show and for publicity. They've been together for decades, the "walk off" on the talk show sounds very fishy. I don't doubt the marriage proposal is serious, I'm sure they are/will get married, Gene's too old to be sleeping around anyway, and she's been putting up with it for years, they are clearly made for each other.

Gene already took a polygraph, and has never cheated on Shannon since they have been together. Their kids are awesome, no druggies or alchies there.if any of you would bother to educate yourself, you would know that Shannon is a millionairre in her own right. She was a Playmate for Heff and had been in Hollywood for quite some time before Gene came into the picture. She is still earning her own money even though she has been a stay at home mom for years raising Gene's kids. He is a very educated man. He taught middle school in New York. He has a Bachelors in education. Speaks five different languages fluently and everything he touches turns to gold. In addition, no one can tell me that if they had been Gene's gf all those years that they wouldn't have done exactly what she did...Before you speak hurtful words, you should reallly educate yourself on the subject

Shannon Tweed is the only woman in the world who could tolerate Gene's huge EGO, she is a strong enough woman to take him on and keep on going. I don't think there is another woman alive who would have stayed 28 years with him if she did not love him; I think fate wanted them to be together. And I believe they truly love each other.
I'm sure the wedding issue was staged, but who cares. And by the way, how come none of Gene's 'girls' have come forward like Tiger's or Arnold's, kind of makes me think all those other women are just stories.
Jay: There is no "Common Law" marriage in California, however the state will recognize a common law marriage that was established in another jurisdiction. She might be able to pull a palimony suit (a la Lee Marvin's ex girlfriend) but Marvin's ex DID NOT prevail. I would imagine Gene would just do the honorable thing if they split and pay her an allowance.
As for whether or not she accepts, I saw last nights proposal and during the "couch conversation" portion of the show, you can see that she is wearing a ring. Personally, I don't think she should accept. Now, she can just walk away. After marriage, leaving is more difficult.
I would like to say I admire both of you for putting your personal lives for the public. I want to tell you Shannon you have so much most women would be happy to have but do not push for a marriage . You and Gene has devoted 27-28 years to this relationship and you have 2 beautiful young adults. To have a commitment like you want my dear you already have. These guys are just actors. Gene Simmons is played by an ex-cabaret dancer from Jersey named Bernie Feltz. The real Simmons is retired and living in Cabo San Lucas. He's got an artificial hip and can barely walk.

Any one ever heard of Palimony?. After a 28 year relationship and two grown chidren togther, I'm sure the so-called "gold-digger" will get a fair share of the earnings, etc. Personally, I think they love each and their children, who appear to be smart and well adjused. Shannon and Gene seem to make their relatinship work. What goes on hehind the scenes I of course do not know, but after 28 years and no reports of spousal abuse that I can recall, the world does not need to know what goes on in their real lives. "Good wishes in whatever you choose in regards to marriage, whiich seems to have lasted way longer than most marriages that include a ceremony and a piece of paper.

Seriously? Where did half of you people learn how to spell? It's called spell check, firefox has a really awesome spell check application. I'm sure that, no matter how greedy you are, no self respecting person would lie about a fight of that magnitude. Splitting up is no laughing matter, especially for the sake of reality t.v. Relationships have their problems and half the people in the world have their heads shot so far up their butts to realize it.
If anything, the public should be happy about his proposal. It's a special event, and should be treated as such.

O.K. think about it. She walked off Behar in June, they probably had already taped the proposal and all that jazz by that time! It was all for publicity to try and buck up an uninteresting reality show. As has been said, Simmons is a businessman and they wanted to come up with a different angle–they thought it was edgy I'm sure. Having said that, they seem like a great family and have done a good job with their kids.

Shannon walking off the Joy set was rigged. CNN knew it and kept it in the "spotlight" with their 10 famous walkoffs to keep the buzz going. All we need now is Andy Kauffman back on the David Letterman show.

KISS was fun ... when I was a kid. As an adult, and a bass player, I feel confident stating that Gene Simmons is a lousy musician and a boring sideshow freak. I just wish he'd get back into drugs and overdose ala Amy Winehouse, another poor excuse for a musician. Being rich doesn't make you a good musician ... it just means you're rich. I'd rather make my modest living while being a solid musician than be a public buffoon like Gene Simmons. You guys crack me up! Gene Simmons is such a great dad and a pretty good guy...or so it would seem on television and I don't think he is that great of an actor. He has been with the same woman all of these years and they have created a wonderful family that are not drug addicts or crazy weirdos hitting the clubs for fame. Both kids go to college, seem to respect their parents and are well rounded...most american kids should be so lucky. I'm not sure about where they live (or have lived) but isn't there such a thing as a common law marriage? They have been together long enough. You all keep posting about her getting his money if they marry.....she can get it any time as long as they've been together. They seem like a lovely family but most of the stuff on this show looks completely staged. I know if I was having relationship problems I would not want that broadcast to the world. And if she's so upset, why would she continue making appearances with him? I've got a feeling that we won't know Shannon's answer until the beginning of the next season. It will probably be the cliffhanger. Either that or else next season will be about the upcoming wedding. Hard to say...is this all a ploy to make it official and get ratings at the same time? All I know is that Gene Simmons is estimated to be worth $300 million. I've never met him & I'd marry him. She's put in 28 yrs, she would be a fool not to make it official.

She was a Playmate for Heff and had been in Hollywood for quite some time before Gene came into the picture. She is still earning her own money even though she has been a stay at home mom for years raising Gene's kids. He is a very educated man. He taught middle school in New York. He has a Bachelors in education. Speaks five different languages fluently and everything he touches turns to gold. In addition, no one can tell me that if they had been Gene's gf all those years that they wouldn't have done exactly what she did...Before you speak hurtful words, you should reallly educate yourself on the subject.

What does it matter to any of you why now, or what his hair looks like or what age he acts? I for one wish them the best. Gene has certainly cheated A LOT, but there was a semi-open understanding of this, as there is with a lot of rockers – especially those of his era. What changed was Shannon's willingness to deal with it. I think it will be hard for Gene, he has enjoyed the 70's rock lifestyle since, well, the 70's, but it's obvious he really loves her and he will attempt to do anything to stay with her. I don't think it was "all made up" for the show, but they filmed the worst of it. Any moral-minded woman would've probably have cut his ball off and out (to put it mildly). I'm afraid there are many non-famous women (married or not) that have to deal with this every day and I feel SO sorry for them. Cheating affects the whole family, not just the two involved.
