While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
'Amazing Spider-Man' trailer hits WebWe picked Sony's panel as one of the must-see's at this year's Comic-Con precisely for the "Amazing Spider-Man" preview, among others, but what about those of us who aren't San Diego bound? Thanks to the Interwebs, you get a peek, too.
The trailer for the Marc Webb directed feature is getting positive buzz after it started circulating on the Web yesterday. The two minute clip shows Andrew Garfield turning into the titular Spider-Man and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. The very end brings some action from Spidey's point of view. The full, 3-D feature arrives in theaters July 3, 2012. Beckham baby name boosts sales of 'To Kill a Mockingbird'Not only are we constantly talking about the, er, creative names celebrities come up with, but these monikers can apparently also help out book sales. According to Amazon.co.uk, the website's sales of "To Kill a Mockingbird" more than doubled after David Beckham revealed that their chosen baby name of Harper for their daughter was partly inspired by the book's author, Harper Lee. "A lot of thought goes into our children's names and Harper was a name that we've loved for a long time for a couple of reasons," Beckham says on his Facebook page, according to the Daily Mail. "One reason is Harper's an old English name which we loved and one of the other reasons was Victoria's favorite book is 'To Kill A Mockingbird.'" FULL POST Everyone’s a Critic: Public pink slipsI wouldn’t really call myself a fan of “Glee,” but I do watch the show, and I know a lot of the Gleeks out there are still reeling from news about some of their favorite McKinley High students. Last week, executive producer Ryan Murphy announced that three of the show’s stars won’t be back for season 4. (We’ll leave aside the presumption that there will BE a season four). Murphy said the reason behind the decision is that it would be unrealistic for student characters to stay on a show once their senior years come and go. (We’ll also leave aside the idea that “Glee” has EVER been too worried about realism.) Hugh Hefner: I missed a bulletLooks like hindsight really is 20/20. It's been a bit of time now since perpetual playboy Hugh Hefner was jilted by his much younger fiancee, Crystal Harris, and now he says he "missed a bullet" with the scrapped nuptials. Hef told "Entertainment Tonight" that he is "doing very, very well under the circumstances." FULL POST 'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: The Jessica Simpson baby obsessionAnother Jessica Simpson pregnancy rumor is circulating around the Web right now. The blonde pop star-turned-mogul was photographed in a tight beige dress in Beverly Hills, and as the pictures surfaced online, the Internet lit up with the possibility that she might be the latest celebrity with a baby bump. Jessica’s rep quickly shot down the pregnancy rumors saying that “she is not pregnant,” but since these baby-on-board nuggets of gossip are so frequent for J-Simp we have to ask: Why are people so obsessed with Jessica having a baby? Every time Jessica is photographed with extra weight or from a bad angle, everyone gets fired up that she might be expecting! I think everyone should leave Jess alone and wait until she announces that she’s actually pregnant before speculating. 'Grey's Anatomy' star Eric Dane enters rehabEric Dane's not a doctor - he only plays one on TV - but he does know when it's time to seek treatment. A rep for the "Grey's Anatomy" star confirmed to CNN that he has "voluntarily checked himself into a treatment facility to help him get off pain medication that he was prescribed for a sports injury that he suffered over the recent hiatus." Star magazine reported that the 38-year-old had checked in to a Los Angeles rehabilitation clinic for a 30-day stay, as posted on RadarOnline. According to a "friend," the actor felt he "had too much to lose," seeing that his wife Rebecca Gayheart is pregnant with their second child. The couple already has a one-year-old daughter, Billie Beatrice. According to the site, "Grey's" resumed production on July 19, and his rep says that Dane "reports back to work this week. Business as usual." Big drama, big hair on 'Pretty Little Liars'We might not have learned anything new about A on last night’s episode of “Pretty Little Liars,” but we did learn something even more important: don’t wear sticky lip gloss to make out with your crush. “It’s all fun and sexy until somebody hacks up a hair ball.” Noted. In keeping with stereotypical high school affairs, this week the girls participated in a fashion show. And with any big event comes big drama ... and even bigger hair. Zach Braff: I'm still straightIf you still check ZachBraff.com, a site that the actor's rep says has been dormant since 2006, you would've seen a note posted this morning purportedly from Braff revealing that he was gay. The letter, addressed to Braff's fans, says in part: "I have been hiding this secret inside me for too long...The human mind can only bare [sic] so much before it explodes in emotions, and well... it is time I let the world know. I am excited and proud to announce that I am an open member of the homosexual community." But the letter was the work of a hacker, Braff's rep confirms to CNN. The actor, who stars in the upcoming "Oz: The Great and the Powerful," adds that he's "still straight. But not too straight; still love musicals and brunch..." Ryan Seacrest, Bravo team for 'Shahs of Sunset'Ryan Seacrest is building his empire with a docu-series currently being called "Shahs of Sunset." Seacret's production company is in cahoots with Bravo to produce the reality series, which would focus on a group of Persian-American pals in Los Angeles who are balancing their families and traditions with their L.A. lifestyles, says a Bravo statement. The show aims to highlight both the glitz of Rodeo Drive and the traditional family dinners of the cast, "celebrating the opulent lifestyle" of these Sunset "Shahs." Apparently these "young socialites," as Bravo calls them, have got plenty of paper and they're not afraid to spend it. FULL POST |
