While you were working...Today's news you might've missed:
Depp deals with Disney, Kristen Wiig gets animatedJohnny Depp already has plenty on his plate – the actor’s done a cameo in “21 Jump Street” and has “Dark Shadows” and “The Lone Ranger” in the works – but he’s making a little room for his production company to take on two more projects. According to Deadline, Depp’s Infinitum Nihil has worked out a deal with Disney for a feature based on the TV movie and series “Night Stalker” and another drama about Paul Revere. If you remember the show, you know that “Night Stalker” focused on journalist Carl Kolchak, who always seemed to come across creatures like vampires, zombies and werewolves in his investigations. Rupert Grint on kissing co-star Emma Watson: YuckRon Weasley and Hermione Granger might have romantic feelings for one another, but the actors who play them certainly do not. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson - who say they’ve developed a sibling-like relationship after working together for the past decade - weren’t looking forward to the time when their characters finally got together on the big screen. The pair’s passionate kiss in “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” out Friday, was awkward to film, and even more awkward to watch, Grint tells MTV. Everyone’s a Critic: The problem with knowing too muchThe news came out recently that “Terra Nova,” the new sci-fi series that’s set to premiere on Fox this fall, will only have a 13 episode season. This comes after plans to air the pilot back in May had to be scrapped. The reason for the delay and shortened first season seems to be production issues, specifically that the show is REALLY expensive. Creating a CGI-dominated prehistoric world can do that. It’s still entirely possible that “Terra Nova” will be a good show, but I’m not sure it can ever live up to expectations. LiLo in 'Carrie' remake? Sissy Spacek can see itStephen King has already remarked that he thinks it would be "fun" to cast Lindsay Lohan as the lead in a remake of "Carrie," and now original “Carrie” star Sissy Spacek says that she’s not opposed to it either. "I read about it and I was very flattered because they ran a picture of me and of Lindsay Lohan," Spacek told NextMovie over the weekend while promoting her movie “The Help.” "I was like, 'Oh my God, she's really a beautiful girl' and so I was very flattered,” she goes on. “I was also flattered that they were casting someone to look like me instead of the real Carrie described in the book. It's gonna be real interesting." SJP's movie made her so nervous she couldn't eatSarah Jessica Parker could afford to hire round-the-clock help – the 46-year-old actress ranked at the top of Forbes’ list of highly paid actresses along with Angelina Jolie - but the mom of three, who does employ a nanny for her twins, tells Vogue that she’d rather do most of the childcare herself. “We don’t have any live-in help. We’re pretty hands on parents,” she says of herself and husband Matthew Broderick, who are parents to toddlers Loretta and Tabitha as well as 8-year-old James Wilkie. “That’s something that’s important to both of us, and we don’t shirk it, because what’s the point in having a family if you’re not going to really participate in it, you know?” Read the full interview with Sarah Jessica Parker in Vogue As a result, Parker says she can completely relate to the juggling act her character does in September’s “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” about finance exec Kate Reddy who tries to balance work, her two kids and her marriage. The best 'Potter'-inspired stuff money can buyIf there's one thing a decade of "Harry Potter" has taught us, it's that the fans' obsession knows no bounds. From Pygmy Puffs to an original oil painting of Mad-Eye Moody, we've rounded up some of the wackiest - or maybe the best - "Potter"-inspired stuff. Check it out in the gallery above. 'Dark Knight Rises' teaser poster hits WebWe've got a year to go before "The Dark Knight Rises" swoops into theaters on July 20, 2012, but there's already a teaser poster available to whet your appetites (as if you'd need that). The poster bears nothing more than the Batman symbol outlined by buildings presumably in Gotham City plus when the film is slated to arrive, but that's likely because we already know the cast by heart. Directed by Christopher Nolan, "The Dark Knight Rises" will star Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman and "Inception's" Tom Hardy as Bane. Back in April, studio Warner Bros. revealed that Hardy's "Inception" co-stars Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are also part of the cast, with Cotillard playing an employee at Bruce Wayne's company, and Gordon-Levitt playing a Gotham City cop. The men think pink on 'The Bachelorette'Ashley welcomed us to Taiwan on last night's edition of "The Bachelorette," calling it a part of Asia that few people know about. That comment seemed a bit odd, given how many "Made in Taiwan" items I've seen in stores. Chris tells the six remaining suitors that it's the 100th anniversary of Taiwan, so it's very important that they're here (This is Taiwan's prize for reaching the century mark?). There will be three one-on-one dates this week, as well as a three-on-one date. The one-on-ones will not have roses in play. The first one-on-one date went to Constantine, who made it to the final six despite saying about seven words an episode. Ashley says her relationship with Constantine is running kind of slow. Actually, it's so slow that Ashley has to buy Constantine his ticket for their train ride to a Taiwanese village. Another book on the way from SnookiSnooki's book part deux is on its way. Simon & Schuster has confirmed the company will publish a second book from "Jersey Shore" cast member Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi. "Gorilla Beach" will be a follow up to Polizzi's first book "A Shore Thing," which ended up on the extended New York Times bestseller list. According to the book's description, the new novel's action will center on Giovanna "Gia" Spumanti and her cousin Isabella "Bella" Rizzoli who "are going to have the sexiest summer ever." Hmmm....that plot sounds familiar. The second novel is slated for release in May 2012, just in time for the summer reading lists. |
