Soon enough, we'll be writing the headline: "Your entire childhood: It's becoming a movie."
But if Pac-Man could potentially become a reality series, then who's to say Space Invaders couldn't be developed for the big screen? According to the Hollywood Reporter, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Gigi Pritzker are developing a project based on the game, which was released in 1978 and holds the Guinness World Record as the top video game of all time.
How soon the two will be able to ship "Space Invaders" into theaters will depend on how quickly they can find a writer - they're still searching for a scribe who can spin the game into a plot worth watching.
A potential problem, THR points out, is the fact that "Space Invaders" doesn't come with any lore that must be adhered to, so while the production team doesn't really have to worry about pleasing gamer fans, they still have to figure out how to create a story around the shooter game.
