'Space Invaders,' the movie?Soon enough, we'll be writing the headline: "Your entire childhood: It's becoming a movie." But if Pac-Man could potentially become a reality series, then who's to say Space Invaders couldn't be developed for the big screen? According to the Hollywood Reporter, producers Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Gigi Pritzker are developing a project based on the game, which was released in 1978 and holds the Guinness World Record as the top video game of all time. How soon the two will be able to ship "Space Invaders" into theaters will depend on how quickly they can find a writer - they're still searching for a scribe who can spin the game into a plot worth watching. A potential problem, THR points out, is the fact that "Space Invaders" doesn't come with any lore that must be adhered to, so while the production team doesn't really have to worry about pleasing gamer fans, they still have to figure out how to create a story around the shooter game.

no i was talking about independence day. if i was talking about (the superior movie) war of the worlds i would have named it. a bare bones shooting game from 1978 only deserves to be a popcorn actioner movie out of 1997..

As much as I am a fan of games being made into movies (i.e. Tomb Raider, Resident Evil), this is just too doggone much. Give it a rest Hollywood. Here is an interesting thought: Get an original idea for a movie!
loved the game years ago, think its a stupid idea for a movie, and that picture just is not right.....they need to take that away
