'Big Bang Theory' star: Penny's last name is...?If you're still wondering what Penny's last name is on "The Big Bang Theory," you're not the only one. Even the cast hasn't been clued in about Kaley Cuoco's character, claims star Jim Parsons. "We really don't know. I've made suggestions. We all have. But nobody will take one," he tells The Wrap. "She really doesn't have one - unless they've been writing one over the summer break. When I left work, Penny had no last name." Of course, that hasn't stopped the cast and crew from getting creative. "I've heard Penny Lane. I suggested Moonves. I thought a shout-out to Les Moonves, the head of CBS, wouldn't be a bad idea. But nothing has stuck," says Parsons. "Our prop master's last name is London and every once in a while he'll print 'Penny London' on something. But it's not really her name. I agree with on of the comments and I think her name should be penny pincher. The reason I feel this way is because The Big Bang Theory is a comedy show and this would make a great joke! And the friends seem to dwell on really funny things at their exspense and this could be on of those things. just like the episode where they kept on making fun of Howard for Bernadette being a doctor and he wasn't. this could be just like that but with more irony. They can say it makes sense because she never pays a penny for any thing! Plus, can you imagine the episode when she FINALLY reveals her last name and that comes out! Everyone will be shocked, but in a good way, like a thats really funny kinda way. I mean, if you used a normal last name like lane of les moonves, nobody would care because it's so boring and not at all exciting, but if you used Penny Pincher, it will be buzzing everywhere and everyone will be excited. Thats why I feel Penny's full name should be Penny picher. Tell me what you think!

The character is supposed to be from Nebraska, so the writers might use Lancaster, which is the county in which the state capital and the second most heavily-populated city in the state, Lincoln, is located. Alternatively, the most heavily-populated city in the state is Omaha, which is located in Douglas county, so the writers might also want use Douglas as the character's last name.

I think Penny's name should be revealed in a series of episodes. There should be a good reason why nobody knows her last name like she wanted to keep it a secret. She should be related to someone of great importance to the guys. The guys should be in awe of her or have an overwhelming feeling of reverence, admiration, or maybe even fear of her importance. I think it could be a way to educate the general population about a person that could possibly influence these smart guys. She could have power without any direct change to Penny's character like it could be her mother.

Has there been an episode where Penny's parents have come to visit? I don't remember one. If there had been I'm sure that Leonard would have referred to them as Mr. and/or Mrs. ________. That should be the basis of the episode, with Penny's parents visiting from Nebraska when the Cornhuskers are in a bowl game in the LA area. Cause that is about the only reason anyone from Nebraska dares leave the Midwest. The name issue is secondary, but a fun possibility for the writers. I like the ideas guy's but think about it : Leonard and Sheldon should already know Penny's last name because in one episode Sheldon reminds Leonard to remember Penny's mail that he took so he would have a chance to talk to her. In the episode where Sheldon loans Penny money he picks up her package (the Beret she ordered) and tells her "this package came for you." Her last name would be right on the package so if they did an episode where no one knows her name it would be contradictory. Unlleeesssssss they did an episode that happened JUST like this: Penny is talking to Leonard about something that happened to her and in talking about someone says "and they have the same last name as me." Leonard looks at Penny, makes a face and says "By the way, what IS your last name?" Penny says, "Oh come onnn, you know." Leonard makes one of his faces we see so much in episodes and says, "No actually I DON'T know. We've been neighbors for x years and dated for x months and I never thought to ask your last name." Penny sighs and says, " Mail. What about my mail? You used to get my mail all the time." Leonard shrugs and says, " I never thought to look. I always just simply knew you as 'Penny'." Penny grunts and rolls her eyes and looks to Sheldon saying, "Come on. Sheldon! Sheldon, you know my last name right?" Sheldon (who is working at his desk) quickly glances at her and replies , "No." while lifting his eyebrows. Penny in frustration says, "How could neither of you know my last name? Sheldon, what about the time you handed me the package with my Beret in it. It had my last name right?" Sheldon will then sigh, put down his pencil and turn toward Penny about to go off on a rant. He will say something like Penny, I don't know your last name, nor do I care. I have no interest in where your family came from or who they were. No matter how good of corn husker's they were." Sheldon then goes back to his work leaving Penny in more frustration. Penny flails her arms and says " Fiiinnnnneee. it's _________" (Penny hates to say it because she finds it embarrassing) As soon as she says it Sheldon turns and screams her last name. Penny says "ya....so?" Sheldon says "So!? Do you have any idea who ___________ is??" (it's some famous physicist) Penny shrugs one shoulder, makes a face and says, "I don't know... maybe?" and then boom you have your episode.

Her full name is Penelope. It is mentioned in the episode where she plays the online role playing game with the guys and she refers to herself as Princess Penelope. I do not think it is feasible to actually have an episode where the main cast does not know her last name.... I mean, Leonard dated her, has stayed at their place... they are neighbors and I am sure the guys have seen her mail, etc. They had to go to the hospital once.. there are forms... Totally not believable to think that they wouldn't know her last name. So, I don't think it should be an episode theme. Something plain and common would fit with her upbringing. Frankly, this is a subconscious example of the dearth of dimensionality provided to female characters on television shows – largely written by men. Of course, all the male characters have last names. They are respected members of society with good jobs and college degrees. Penny's character was probably noted on the cast breakdown as "hot chick next door" or "Leonard's girlfriend" which denotes that she is only important in relation to how she fits into their lives.
I think Penny name should be Penny Lee Lane and that way Stan Lee could be her moms dad (aka her grandpa) and come pay a visit to the granddaughter he hasnt seen in years. Then the boys would start to treat her like a goddess instead of a nimwit.-the writers can fill in the rest and Im sure it would be a very interesting episode. While cute and coincidental, I feel that any surname that references a character in Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord Of The Rings, comic book fame etc. probably wouldn't work since the guys would have latched on to it long ago and talked about it (since the characters obviously would know her last name).
