Beyonce still has three weeks to go before her album’s official release date on June 28, but some have already heard her upcoming album “4” in full.
The record leaked in its entirety on Tuesday. It trickled out with the single “Party,” featuring Andre 3000, which was followed by the leak of “Countdown," according to the Los Angeles Times. Before long, the 12-track album was in circulation.
It sounds like from the statement the 29-year-old singer posted on her Facebook page that she’s looking for the positive in this situation.
“My music was leaked and while this is not how I wanted to present my new songs, I appreciate the positive response from my fans,” Beyonce said Wednesday. “When I record music I always think about my fans singing every note and dancing to every beat. I make music to make people happy and I appreciate that everyone has been so anxious to hear my new songs."
But if fans are thinking “4” will be close in kind to “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” they should think again. As Rolling Stone explains, “4” is “a change of pace…a more relaxed, personal set that emphasizes ballads over bangers and showcases the singer’s nuances…the sort of album a pop star makes when she doesn’t feel like she has anything to prove.”
