Nicole Scherzinger officially replaces Cheryl Cole on 'X Factor'

Nicole Scherzinger, who was once thought to be a host for producer Simon Cowell's U.S. version of "The X Factor," has now come on board as a judge, Fox confirms.

Scherzinger is - you guessed it - officially replacing former Girls Aloud singer Cheryl Cole. British celeb Steve Jones will now fly solo as host of the show.

A month ago it was announced that Cole would be taking a seat at the judges' table along with  Cowell, Antonio "L.A." Reid and later Paula Abdul, but by the end of May, word spread that Cole had been dropped from the role.

Reportedly the reasons were because her accent was too thick for American audiences, and there seemed to be a chemistry problem with fellow judge Abdul. Scherzinger, now an official judge, was rumored at the time to be taking Cole's spot.

Not long after that, Cowell revealed that Cole also wasn't returning as a judge on the U.K. edition of "The X Factor." The plot continued to thicken over the weekend, however, as rumors surfaced that Cowell had changed his tune and invited the singer to return to the judges' panel on the Fox network talent competition.

In fact, the Wrap and the News of the World report that Cowell as well as Fox management re-watched the British beauty's audition, realized she should be part of the series, and asked her to fly back in time for the New Jersey auditions on June 8.

The Hollywood Reporter tells a different story, however. According to a source, Cole is off the show for good because she didn't quite mesh with the other judges.

"There was no spark," a source says. "It was nobody's fault. It just didn't work."

The U.S. edition of "The X Factor" premieres in September. Stay tuned.

Although I don't like Cheryl, as I think she has no talent, (at least I have heard of her, and know who she is) who on earth are the other judges, never heard of them, are they important "big" stars, or just wannabes, like our Uk wannabes??? Most americans have no idea about the UK or life in the Uk, or our television, bis usa stars aren't important here, they mean nothing. Half of the american shows shown on the Uk telle have people on them, who are complete unknown to most of the people here. We have heard of some of them, but lets be honest, they aren't very tallented either are they! In fact I wish we didn't get so many usa programs foisted on us!!
