Adele has joked that stage fright makes her sick to her stomach, but now the singer is battling a different illness: laryngitis. Update 6/3: Adele announced she had to postpone five tour dates on her sold-out North American tour earlier in the week, but the Brit singer has since canceled the rest of the tour.
According to a statement posted on her website, Adele had to cancel all 9 remaining stops because of ongoing illness. "While resting in Los Angeles, Adele met with an Otolaryngology specialist who determined it was imperative that she take the next few weeks to recover with absolute voice rest," the statement says.
Plans to reschedule are being investigated.
Adele adds to the statement that she's "really frustrated."
"I was hoping with a weeks rest I’d be better to sing again straight away," the "Rolling in the Deep" singer says. "However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctors advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry."
She'd previously rescheduled her Minneapolis performance for June 22, and postponed tour stops in Salt Lake City (May 29), Vancouver (May 31), Seattle (June 1) and Portland (June 3). The tour was expected to pickup again in San Francisco on June 4.
