One thing you need to know about LisaRaye McCoy: She keeps it real.
Whether it's discussing the break-up of her marriage to the Premier of the Turks and Caicos Islands, her desire to find a man of means or even the rumored beef on the set of her new show "Single Ladies" with co-star Stacey Dash, the actress doesn't hold back.
For example, she has no problem admitting that producers wanted a younger face when casting her character Keisha Green on the new VH1 romantic comedy series.
"My friend, Stacy A. Littlejohn, wrote the character with me in mind," McCoy said. "When she sold it and partnered up with VH1 and Queen Latifah's production company, Flavor Unit Entertainment, they wanted a younger demographic." That is, until producers took a meeting with the stunning 40-something McCoy.
The actress added that she's passionate about the character and the show, which she says is a mix of "Sex in the City" and "Girlfriends."
"It's full of drama and comedy and yet it's so real," she said. "When you have a series that is going up against reality television, which is taking over now, you want to have something fresh enough that will capture people's attention."
On that level McCoy is competing with herself, as she also recently launched the second season of her TV One reality show "LisaRaye: The Real McCoy." Viewers get to see her be very open about her relationship with her 21-year-old daughter, Kai, and her quest to find a man of means following the break-up of her marriage.
McCoy said her fans expect such honesty from her, even when it comes to uncomfortable situations like a rumored fight with "Single Ladies" co-star Stacey Dash, perhaps best known for a starring role in the 1995 film "Clueless."
"I normally don't like to address rumors, but I think it was so unfair to both of us the way they took that story and dragged it out," McCoy said. "There was no physical altercation or some beef that people were trying to fabricate. It was us being together for the last 4 or 5 months filming every day for 15 to 16 hours a day."
McCoy goes on, "When you have creative differences with someone, some words might flow back and forth but that doesn't mean we carried it on to the next day...When we read the blogs, it became something else and we laughed at it at first. Stacey and I have known each other since before 'Single Ladies' and we worked together before so at the end of the day we have moved on and know that we've made a wonderful product."
"Single Ladies" premieres tonight at 9 p.m. on VH1.
I wish she would stop shoving her Gay agenda down our throats.
I have nothing against Gays but some of us are getting tired of this being shoved down our throats.
I will not watch this show again.
One can't watch tv anymore without the Gay agenda being shove down our throats at full force
I like the fact this show came out, they are vary strong, jazzy, independent, and beautiful women that knows what they want, an gets it. They also, think like an man an breaks them down to respect an woman. I feel like all woman should have that drive about them selves. Go Girls. Close, Toya Sims
Lisa, I want to say that I've always been proud of being black. I work in a company where there isn't many of us, but like you I like to keep it real, but intelegently. That's what I like about you-like me your a beautiful black woman and you don't shy away from that, you speak intelegently, but you keep your black tone of voice while doing so and I really love that about you. I wish you all the best with your success and beg you to keep bringing it. Don't worry about those rumors, because you're going to always have your fans as well as some haters-we all do.
I love watching this show. I think its something different for us women out here. It gives women a different look on life and how some of us being treated, by these no good men. MCcoy keeps it real and tells it like it is. She hooks the women up on game before they make a mess. She knows when a man is lying and will call them out on it. Stacy Dash, is a beautiful lady. I see no heifers, hoes, old hags, ancient harpies, school girls or none of the bad names that's called, referring to these beautiful ladies who makes the SINGLE LADIES SHOW.
I love u lisa don't mind de hater there wish there look like u

Love the show we need to see hot man sometimes it is alway about women half naked but this show has hot men show them sometimes. We as women need to support the show.
I just love this show and the entire cast. Something different for a change! Thank goodness.
Keisha u should have given it up b4 he found out about the watch,Malcom is so fine, sometimes u hold out 2 long he would have 4gotten about hte watch. And Darryl is another Tiger Woods getting just what he deserves from April.Tell Darryl come on back and get some real soul and love from the hood.
Watched this show once and couldn't watch again. The "ladies" are as loose as can be. LisaRaye and Stacy both are perpetrating a stereotype with the roles they are playing, and we all know what it is. They have to have low standards to accept roles of this caliber.
Loved the show although I felt a little "drama overload", but thats what makes good television. Loving Stacey Dash, as always, she is so beautiful. This show just goes to show that woman can do the damn thang too. We do not have to be defined by the men we are with, or being with a man for that matter. THUMBS UP SINGLE LADIES
Don't know about this show, but to me, 80 or so is old. Not 40 or 50. Fun will keep ya young!!! :)
WHEN I WATCH IT LAST NITE IT WAS GOOD BECAUSE I SEEN CHILLI, EVE, COMMON AND MANY MORE, I CANT WAIT UNTIL THE NEW SERIS ON MODAYS.
And it's not as if Stacey Dash looks old. Hell, Helen Mirren still looks hot hot hot and she's in her 60s.
I love how people make fun of old people as if it's just something that happens to someone else. They make fun because it scares them to think they will be like that one day.
There are some tru haters on here. They are georgeous for their age. Far from old hags. Life doesn't end at 40. It's only as good as you make it, so if your 40, or 50, whoever said you have to stop looking beautiful? I'm in my 40's and I surel don't consider myself an old hag. Must be some young ,immature peeps posting here. Such double standards. When women do things, they r called hoes, but men are given kudos for their rauchiness. With all that being said, I enjoyed the show!! Something new and different
I feel the HATERS also.Im n my late 40's and enjoying it ,the need 2 hope and pray that the reach it and look like a 25/-30 year old.Anyways...............................GO SINGLELADIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't agree more! I'm in my 30's and single. I think the women look extremely well. I also think the characters shed a good light on women, they are far from hoes as some of the ignorant people on here like to write. I love the show, it's entertaining1
I LOVE THIS SHOW VERY MUCH!
YEAH ! MOOOOOOO ! These old hags shouldnt be on tv. Noone wants to see ancient harpies acting like youg girls. Just Gross.
@JEN stfu already you hater. Did we not tell you to get off marquee blog or are u just a dumb a$z and we dont like u
I'm with jen on this one, these old heifers need to be put out to pasture
sorry ladies, but I agree you're attractive but you need to get in your rocking chairs, hold your grandbabies and sip on some Jack Daniels.
This series REALLY makes woman look bad, This is truly terrible not all woman are HOEs ... grown women ACTING LIKE SCHOOL GIRLS
very true, i felt the same
I dont agree at all.

This is a bit off topic but have natural male enhancement drugs available for half price (602)621-3688.
Happy Memorial Day everyone! Have fun and be safe. No drunk driving! Thank you to all the great soldiers who gave me the freedoms I have today.
Ooops..! Sorry I had a typo. Should be stupid. My bad.
I remember when mtv and vh1 were actually music channels. Man I feel a little old thinking about how long ago that stopped being the case. I think its not necessarily a bad thing though. A lot of artists coming up now are more independent of the labels and the industry machine. You don't need a distribuition deal and to sign away publishing rights to get noticed through youtube and sell your own work on the web.
What is this show? Never heard of it or any of its actors. Probably another stpuis reality type show. Thats all VH1 shows these days. What ever happened to the music? Just wondering....
IT'S NOT A REALITY SHOW, IT'S A SITCOM
Maybe you should try reading up about things before saying it's probably stupid
