Has Kate Middleton become the latest royal fashion icon? That answer would be yes.
When the Duchess of Cambridge and her husband Prince William had a meet and greet with President Obama and the First Lady on Tuesday, the tan Reiss dress she wore instantly became a must-have item.
So many people wanted to get their hands on the $340 dress, called "Shola," that the website couldn’t withstand demand and crashed. It’s still working to stay afloat a day after the Duchess was photographed wearing it.
A spokesperson for Reiss told the Washington Post that traffic to the website increased by over 300 percent after fashionistas learned the designer of Kate’s outfit.
Reiss tweeted on Wednesday morning, “To all our Shola fans!...The dress has now sold out online and in the US, with very limited stock left in UK stores,” and that they’re still hard at work trying to fix any bugs on their site.
