There's a good reason Russell Brand wasn't cheering on wife Katy Perry as she performed in Japan over the weekend—he was too busy getting kicked out of the country.
"So… my husband just got deported from Japan," the singer, who is currently touring Asia, wrote on Twitter on May 22. "I am so sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed."
Though Perry added, "It was for priors from over 10 years ago!" she didn't specify what Brand's offenses were, according to Billboard.
Meanwhile, Brand kept his sense of humor about the situation.
"Planning escape from Japanese custody," he tweeted. "It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick."
While Perry may have been upset about Brand's deportation, she didn't let it affect her performance. "But of COURSE I ♥ my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it'snotrightbutit'sokay," she wrote. Then, referring to Brand's Twitter handle, she added, "#FREE@RUSTYROCKETS! RT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
