A New Orleans high school that Sandra Bullock "adopted" back in 2007 is celebrating a major achievement.
In a history-making moment on Tuesday, every single student in Warren Easton Charter High School's 220-member senior class graduated, according to a statement from Bullock’s rep.
Even better than the 100 percent graduation rate? Those seniors have been offered a total of $4,625,100 in scholarship money from 15 different colleges and universities.
Bullock got involved with the institution - the oldest public high school in Louisiana - following the devastating Hurricane Katrina and has contributed “hundreds of thousands of dollars” for a new on-campus health clinic, college scholarships, band uniforms and the renovation of the auditorium, her rep says in the statement.
Bullock herself responded to the news saying, "I cannot express how proud I am of the 2011 graduating class at Warren Easton. To achieve a 100% graduation rate just goes to show that the recipe for success lies under that roof. People who believe, people who love and support, and people who don't take no for an answer.”
The Oscar winner, whose adopted son Louis is also from New Orleans, added, “how lucky am I to be a very small part of this great school!"
