Austin City Limits line-up announcedStevie Wonder, Arcade Fire, Kanye West, Coldplay and Cee Lo Green top the list of artists who will be performing during the Austin City Limits Music Festival from September 16 to 18. "The essence of ACL has always been eclectic," said head talent buyer Charles Attal in a statement. "We're incredibly proud to offer something for every kind of music lover." Eclectic indeed - the list of 130 bands goes on to include Alison Krauss, My Morning Jacket, Bright Eyes, Social Distortion, Empire of the Sun, Big Boi and Randy Newman.
This is the festival's 10th anniversary celebration. The inaugural ACL festival was held in 2002, with 60 bands on six stages. Since then the festival has become extremely popular with dedicated music lovers. The three-day passes for 2011's fest sold out in just under an hour in early May. "What started out as a great show has turned into a truly special, quintessentially Austin experience," marketer Charlie Jones said. Fortunately, music lovers can still purchase a $90 single-day pass at aclfestival.com starting today. And for those of us stuck at home, the festival will air on most local PBS stations.
