The moms of "Modern Family" took the spotlight on Wednesday night's episode, though Cam wasn't exactly thrilled with the idea of being seen as one of them.
When Mitchell brought Cam breakfast in bed on what just so "happened" to be Mother's Day, he cried foul. Mitchell responded, "It happens to be mother's day. Not martyr's day."
Things got even more uncomfortable for this week's MVP when he was asked to pose with Lily in a group shot of neighborhood moms. The look on his face said it all.
Yes, awkward moments are what "Modern Family" does best, and it doesn't get much more awkward than Phil having to witness Jay break down in tears, when reminded of a letter he wrote to his mother when he was a child.
Most cringe-worthy of all, though, was Gloria talking to Claire about Manny when the moms took the kids on a hike: "Be a boy.
As always happens in sitcoms, Manny was right behind her, and it wasn't easy for her to talk her way out of it.
This moment of honesty was refreshing for Gloria and for the show, but the plotline ultimately didn't work for me. I will give the show kudos for exploring the topics they did this week, but - aside from Haley's "We're your mother now" to Luke, and Phil's Julia Child impression - the Cam story was the only one where I really laughed out loud this week.
What did you think? Were you on the fence about this episode as well? Let me know in the comments, or on iReport, and happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there!
