'Daily Show' writer helps Prez with jokesPresident Obama knows how to surround himself with people who can get the job done. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central confirmed that "Daily Show with Jon Stewart" scribe Kevin Bleyer was one of the writers who helped the president with his jokes at this year's White House Correspondents' Dinner. The commander-in-chief also received an assist last year from members of the "Daily Show" writing staff, though this year Bleyer was the only one from the hit show to participate in the joke writing. POTUS had them rolling in the aisles this year with jokes about Donald Trump, the birther controversy and disappointment in his performance in the White House. Last year's dinner won rave reviews for the president, who was said to have upstaged professional comedian, Jay Leno.

You've got it all wrong. The Daily Show doesn't write Obama's jokes.. Obama writes their show. What else would he be doing since he's not doing his elected job?
Behind the scenes, I'm sure our prez was lhao at Trump &his stupidity! BTW, I do believe he had other things on his mind than Trumps bs! Glad he wasn't distracted by the crap, now we have a new "fish" in the sea!!! I salute you Mr. Prez & our Seals!!!
I kniew Obama did write his own jokes, he cannot say sentence with out his telaprompter. As for his birth certicate, why did 'nt he just show it. BECAUSE, he liked the attention he was getting. He is such a phony, I will take anyone over him, I don't think Trump is going to run, he is just a Democrat saying he is a Republican.
What's with the constant focus on teleprompters? Do you really think that Palin, et al memorize their speeches? Get a grip – 100s of speaking engagements each year can't be supported without a MODERN INVENTION.
You can't even spell and you are concerned that the president uses a teleprompter? I guess you have never had a list of important things to say – that you had to get right – that mattered to anyone. Have you ever even given a speech before? Are you such a great orator that you have justification to criticize? Do you think that your favorite news anchors on Fox News are speaking extemporaneously?
I seem to recall how painful it was to listen to a George W Bush speech. He also used a teleprompter but his reading skills were lacking. If there wasn't constant clapping there would have been dead silence for seconds on end while he read the next sentence.
Remember – Palin doesn't need a teleprompter. She writes her whole speech on her hand!!!
What is that I smell? Roasted Teabagger – lovely! It's about time someone with half a brain (aside from the man, Bill Maher) put these "exceptional Americans" where they belong.
Duh – anyone who watches Jon Stewart knows they fawn all over Obama and take every opportunity to sling arrows at anyone who doesn't drink Obama's Kool-Aid. The only story here is that it actually got out to the rest of the world that the Daily Show writes for Obama. AND Stewart's 'interview' of Obama was weird – watching Stewart lick Obama's shoe soles.
Jeff, i watch The Daily Show almost every night. Jon Stewart criticizes President Obama almost nightly. I think maybe you need to watch with an open mind, if indeed you've ever even watched his show;

I can only assume Trump is playing the "heel" to increase the ratings of his TV show. To him, any publicity is good publicity. He can't possibly be serious and he won't be, simply because he would have to reveal his net worth when he submits his presidential candidacy and he would NEVER do that, because according to some financial pundits, he's not worth as much as he wants you to believe. It's a way for him to get free publicity and not have to pay a cent. It's really brilliant because while it have little to no effect on his business dealings – money is money – and he's just figured out a way to get millions of dollars in advertising for his show by just being a d-bag in real life and saying things that are ludicrous and moronic. He's picking fights with everyone, just to get sound bytes. Come on, we're talking about Trump here. He's many things and STUPID isn't one of them. He's advertising TRUMP and Celebrity Apprentice and he's able to do that on EVERY network. Not some dumb now, is he? Would he ever be elected President? Only if Ross Perot would be his VP. LOL.
Unfortunately, hard core right wing republicans like my mom are currently convinced that Trump is a good candidate for president "because he's taking Obama to task and can beat him." Actual words my mom said to me last night. I'm in the Daily Show camp that really-really wants him to run...not cause he has a chance, but because he's hilarious to make fun of.
President Obama has handled himself with more class than we have seen in most of the so called Republicans who have been in the spot light combined. I have much more respect for those like Mitt Romney who may disagree with the policies of Obama but presents his arguments with respect and reasoning. The likes of trump and palin are media fodder and the majority of intelligent people in either party cannot take them seriously. They are doing the Republican party more harm than good.
Just hearing about this made me laugh out loud ~ I can't wait to see the video.

Well Laverne, the reason we don't bring charges against people who disrespect the president is because WE ARE NOT RUSSIA.
I've always thought Obama was a cool President but after this awesome performance on Saturday with Sunday pending, I realize we also have the "coolest" President.
A Trump/Palin or Palin/trump ticket would ensure Obama's re-election. So I encourage letting them be heard.
Upstaging Leno is not a difficult task. Leno should have stayed "retired".
I just think it's funny that Trump sits there with a scowl on his face – so entirely insecure that he can't laugh at himself, not even on the night when everyone is laughing at themselves. I just wonder what he was thinking there at the dinner? Did he think he was the only smart one in a room full of clowns? Too bad he couldn't see it was exactly the opposite. And he takes himself so seriously that he has to go on Fox and slam the comedians? Donald, please, please get a life.
It's rather sad that being able to tell jokes is a trait we look for from our president now.

President Obama's birth was verified 3 years ago and when he was vetted too many have selective memory, beside Trump filed bankruptcy five times what makes him think he can handle the national budget or advise the military, he was married too many times to understand the concept of marriage, all the gay make-up artist and tv wardrobe men and he doesn't agree with gay rights... Trump, Sarah Palin are nut cases!
It was a GREAT roast. I have to say, it amazes me that while this president was planning the demise of Americas #1 enemy, Trump and the tea-partiers were trying to bring up 'birther 2' and show the man was born in Kenya... pretty dumb.

The President was awesome as the 'Comedian in Chief' on Saturday night! I LOVED the Trump smackdown! If you watched Trump's reaction to all the roasting, he was none too happy.. Maybe Trump should shut his mouth next time and show a little RESPECT for our AMERICAN-BORN President!

Obama has a great sense of humor and is just cool enough to carry it off in front of anyone. Agreed that Trump was appropriately roasted for his ignorance, arrogance and stupidity. As a nation, let's hope Trump doesn't fancy himself the leader of the free world, or the world is in a world of trouble. Seth Myers was a peach too! My husband and I laughed so hard.

@Will...there are people who write and those who perform, some do both. Obama had to pull off the perfomance of the material. Think of it like the time you tried to re-tell something funny at work but it sucked. Like that but good.
Will, a huge part of being a successful comedian is in the delivery. So, yes, President Obama does deserve credit for being hilarious for delivering the jokes so well.
