‘Chuck’: What happens in 'Vecas'…

If last night is any indication of what we can expect as “Chuck” powers toward its season finale (it better just be a SEASON finale), then we’re in for an awesome ride.

It’s been a little while since we last saw the gang, so let's catch-up a bit: Chuck and Sarah’s wedding is approaching; Ellie is trying to figure out her dad’s research on the mysterious Agent X; Vivian Volkoff is intent on finding and killing Agent X; Ellie is lying to Chuck about what she’s doing; and Chuck is still lying to Ellie about not being a spy.

On last night's episode, Chuck and Sarah are getting ready to take off for their bachelor/bachelorette parties. Chuck and his friends are all looking forward to a weekend of debauchery in Las Vegas, courtesy of Devin, who is apparently the Vegas expert.

(Quick tangent: Casey is especially psyched about the shooting ranges in Vegas and plans to bring along special targets, which we see are headshots of Osama bin Laden. Kind of jarring and strangely apropos, given the real-life events of this weekend.)

It turns out what Devin is actually an expert about, though, is Las Vecas, a campground where he intends to spend the weekend hiking and generally being outdoorsy. (Worst. Bachelor party. Ever.)

That’s not quite as sad as the surprise party Ellie is throwing for Sarah which, while nice, is populated entirely by people from Ellie’s hospital and people who worked at Weinerlicious (where Sarah hasn’t worked for… 2 years now?). An "A" for effort, I guess?

Unfortunately, Sarah gets tipped off that Vivian’s agents are coming after the laptop, which is actually out at the campsite with the guys thanks to a luggage mix-up. She calls to warn Chuck despite being surrounded by four male strippers (which while distracting, apparently does not block cell phone reception).

Chuck and Casey take down Vivian’s goons out in the woods, but the whole situation forces Chuck to decide that it’s time for a sit-down with his sister.

And it finally happens: Ellie comes clean about investigating their dad’s work, but Chuck fesses up to everything! The fact that he’s a spy, that the Buy More is a cover, that he’s the intersect, that Castle exists and everyone is on the team.

Guys, I’ve been complaining about Ellie being lied to and kept in the dark this entire season. You better believe I’m gonna enjoy every second of this. So much angst and unnecessary tension gone! Now Ellie can be involved in the spy stuff without everyone she loves lying to her.

Her investigation also clues the team in to the fact that Agent X is NOT Chuck (which he had assumed), but rather an older spy who was uploaded with the intersect 30 years ago with programming that's different from Chuck's. Agent X, whose real name was Hartley, was uploaded with an entirely new persona, one that he got lost in.

When Chuck, Sarah and Casey head to Agent X’s house in England to try and solve the mystery, they run into his mother, who goes from sweet old granny to gun-slinging granny on a dime when Vivian’s agents show up again.

Hartley’s mom tells the gang about his distaste for guns, and how he was just a scientist who was messed up and then abandoned by the CIA. She also leads them to Hartley’s spy will, which is opened back at Castle to reveal a picture of Hartley/Agent X – and it’s Alexei Volkoff!

So many pieces start to fall into place: Why Orion (Chuck’s dad) was obsessed with Volkoff. Why Chuck’s mom was willing to spend 25 years inside his organization. Why an obviously British actor was hired to play a Russian arms dealer.

Chuck thinks this knowledge can help set things right, but Casey sees it a different way, and fills in the entire team: This news means the CIA helped create a ruthless, murdering arms dealer, and when people uncover that information and consider letting it get out, “the CIA sends a guy like me to come put a bullet in each of your heads.”

Casey’s answer is to hide the spy will and for everyone to forget that it ever existed. But Ellie has different ideas, and she thinks it’s a job for the Bartowski siblings to tackle.

Were you shocked by the Agent X revelation? Thrilled that Ellie and Chuck came clean? Sound off about last night’s episode below!

Love Chuck. One of the few shows that I watch. Can't wait to see how they deal with Sarah being shot. You can't kill her off since she is too much of the story line. We the viewer love her so please don't kill her off.

Nice to see Chucks dad come back in flashbacks though. Just an idea folks.

As for the posts that are ignorant or filled with hate....try to remember that some kids at times act out. They will grow up some day. We all get older and wiser.....well most of us do that is.

I thought it was a great episode. I especially enjoyed Casey meeting "the mother he never had", and Jeffster and big Mike rocking out in the car. Pretty funny.

Ben, I've yet to meet a Mormon that acts/writes as you do. I guess the show's opening scene in Provo Utah hit a little too close to home for you?
I wonder if the Provo scene was a Fletch reference?

The whole Volkoff is actually a good guy screwed over by the CIA bit was an interesting twist.

It will be interesting to see if Chuck and Ellie can finish their father's job.

What's got me more preocupied was the upcoming episodes trailer that showed someone close to Chuck is going to die or be in grave danger.

Chuck is a great comedy and adventure show. Kind of like a modern day "Get Smart". Belinda obviously doesn't know what she is taking about. You can tell by her grammar. She must be doing drugs that she obtained in a trailer park!

What the heck is wrong with you? It's too bad, for some, that we have freedom of speech. That you could have kept to yourself.

I feel sorry for you, being so filled with hate and discontent. You seriously need to find something that makes you happy instead of trying to bring others down to where you are. I'll be praying for you!
