NBC’s relentlessly promoted singing competition “The Voice” finally arrived on Tuesday night, kicking off with two hours hosted by none other than Carson Daly.
Last night was the first round of the “blind auditions,” when potential contestants perform as the coaches – that would be Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton - listen with their backs to the performer.
Some of that roughly 120 minutes felt tedious - did we really need to see a mini-performance from the coaches right off the top? – but once they rolled out their first contestant, "The Voice" began to show its virtues (as well as a few of its flaws).
The idea is that it’s not just the performers who are in a competition, but the coaches as well. Each of the four famed recording artists has to build a team of 8 singers, one of whom will eventually win $100,000 and a Universal Republic recording contract while the coach gets the…bragging rights, we guess, of being the one to discover said voice.
So if a coach likes what he or she hears as the singer performs during the blind auditions, they have to chime in with a buzzer. If more than one coach wants the singer, they have to make their case and let the performer decide.
Entertainment Weekly’s Ken Tucker notes that “The Voice” “was less about the strenuous voices of the singers than the yammering voices of its celebrity ‘coaches,’” but that dynamic quickly revealed itself to be the most entertaining part of the show.
The singing was fine and all – “The Voice” only spotlights those who can actually carry a tune, versus “Idol’s” tradition of point-and-laugh auditioning - but with the exception of a few stand-out performers, it was the coaches and their banter that kept my attention. Plus, it was a refreshing change to see the coaches begging for an opportunity to work with a singer instead of the contestants doing the groveling.
But as Gawker points out, “When tallying the number of times Aguilera makes a weird facial expression is the most entertaining thing about a heavily hyped new reality show, then that's a problem.”
First up was 31-year-old Tarralyn Ramsey, who had a rocky start but showed more strength and confidence in her skills towards the end. Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo both hit their buzzers, and Tarralyn sided with Xtina.
The following contestants followed the same pattern: Country singer Patrick Thomas, 20, took the stage and sang a solid rendition of “Live Like You Were Dying,” and when it came down to choose between Cee Lo, Adam and Blake, Thomas understandably went for Mr. CMA male vocalist of the year, Blake Shelton.
The rest of the first hour was enjoyable but it still lacked in suspense, which industry trade paper Variety has dinged as a potential problem.
“‘The Voice’ might find its stride in subsequent episodes, but for all the high-powered pop wattage on display, it's a concept with surprisingly little juice,” Variety’s critic says. “The show's big gimmick - that the judges don't see the artists during their audition, sitting with their backs to them - turned out to be completely ho-hum.”
Not even the appearance of Frenchie Davis, the former “American Idol” contestant who got the boot for some risqué photos she posed for at 19, could drum up any excitement. She sang her way onto Christina Aguilera’s team with an unimpressive rendition of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl.” (This may not be “Idol” but song choice still matters, people.)
A married couple from Nashville also made it through after singing a beautiful version of “Falling Slowly,” landing on Blake’s team, and Cee Lo snatched up coaches favorite Kelsey Ray, whose performance of “American Boy” was almost overshadowed by her looks once the coaches turned around.
If there’s a bone to pick, that was it for me: Please, please, please stop acknowledging that this show is all about “the voice." The remarks of how “cute” or “pretty” or “well-matched” the contestants were once the coaches spun around to see the him or her was laid on a little too thick.
We get it; this singing show is supposed to be all about talent as opposed to image or age or stage presence but let’s be honest – someone had to cast these people. And they likely didn’t do it with their backs turned.
By the time we got to the second hour though, there was a moment of actual suspense and surprise as 22-year-old Jeff Jenkins took the stage and proceeded to blow the coaches away singing “Bless the Broken Road.” Jeff’s performance and the ensuing “battle” to work with him was clearly “The Voice’s” concept at its best, even though they should’ve issued a spoiler alert for tipping the audience off that Jeff would end up with Adam Levine.
For me that moment of cohesion came only a few times throughout the two hours, notably with 33-year-old Javier Colon, whose take on “Time after Time” I briefly considered buying on iTunes, as NBC kept encouraging me to do.
Yet while the critical reaction has been middling to harsh - not even Carson Daly escaped critique, with the Village Voice saying his role is a "massive liability" - the viewers seemed to eat it up.
"'The Voice' is a great show," tweeted Buff1der. "I've never watched any of these talent tv shows before but I'll be watching this when I can." The sentiment was repeated throughout the Twitterverse as the show closed out: "Ok, so 'The Voice' kind of rocked. I think we'll make this a weekly thing," wrote one user, while another tweeted, "The Voice kicked ass. i love it." Said yet another,"I approve of the Voice. The show was entertaining. Far more interesting than 'Idol.'"
Both iReporters Sukhraj Beasla and Kathi Cordsen enjoyed it, and perhaps this tweet summed it up the best: "'The Voice' was about a million times better than I thought it was going to be."
If you watched it, what did you think? Are you planning on tuning in next week? Let us know with an iReport or with a comment below!
Christina is all about herself and nobody else, she seems almost worried that one of these people are going to take her place in the charts. Blake is great, would love to meet him, very sincere. Ceelo, well I really am not into rap, hip hop and all of that junk music but do respect him as an artist. Adam, hey come up to my place and have a few beers and record in my home studio with me, you're great. I've been in the music industry for 35 years and have done well and know what I'm doing. Blake, I've got a great song you or Miranda could record and make a huge hit. I've written a lot of great music.
Cheers boys and gal from Atlantic Canada. Gdawg.
Thanks for the wonderful article, I was researching for details like this, going to check out the other articles.
I have to say this show was wonderful. I perform in a choir and know what it is like to go through auditions like that. Blind Auditions are the way they really get the talent for PMEA District, Regional, State, and National Choir. It allows real talent to come through. It was nice to not see the fakeness of American Idol where if you're not interesting or pretty enough you're off. Behind the scenes of idol, you dont show up on TV if you dont have an interesting back story to tell them. Wanna know how i know? MY best friend went through the process, got to hollywood, and got booted off. She's an alto in our choir and an amazing singer. Idol doesn't let its contestants take job offers for 2 years after being booted off or you get sued for millions of dollars. Big Problem. After this show runs its course, hopefully they dont screw their contestants over like idol does. This show has great potential to bring out real talent without making it into a drama scene.
Famed recording artists? Never heard of any of them before except Aguilera and her only for screwing up our National Anthem. The only good thing about these singing and dancing contest shows is that it is one way a talent can get heard or seen. It's very hard to get noticed by the producers who control the money in the entertainment industry. You can wait years before getting the big opportunity, like Susan Boyle did in Britain. Too bad they can't afford real talent judges.
I was surprised at how entertaining the show was, I got a kick out of the "coaches" performing at the top of the show, that was great! My husband who finds most TV boring and un-watchable, watched the whole program and enjoyed it too!
There's nothing new or fresh about this show.
It's just another lame karaoke show. Boooooring!
I went to middle and high school with Javier. He was a great singer even back in the day! Everyone in Stratford is rooting for him! He was the best of the night ;)
TEAM ADAM and JAVIER!!!!
I thought it was Great. My wife was trying to convience me it would be great for the last month, and I didn't want any part of it. I sat down with hear yesterday and we watched it on the DVR and I was very surprised of how entertaining it was. It helps probably that we are fans of Cee Lo, Christina, Maroon 5, and Blake Shelton. We will tune in to watch this every week now. American Idol is still more relevant, but The Voice is more like a game show take on AI. Way to produce something entertaining NBC other than America's Got Talent.
meh ill pass on this one
The practice of "oversinging" has become more rampant from Christina Aguilera she does too much bending, stretching and otherwise torturing notes that don't deserve such brutal fates. I am tired of hearing her vocal aerobics that almost sounds like yodeling. She does way too much embellishing to a song to the point where the melody is no longer recognizable. She is no longer pleasant to hear and never was. Nor is Christina really singing – it's more like she is screaming on key. She is the definition of the over singer its really sad that its become to common to the point where it is accepted as really singing. Music is a joy to hear rather than a nightmare to be forgotten. Just like Christina's floundering career, its forgotten.
I was hesitant about watching this... especially as I found myself not watching Idol anymore half way through last year's season. So far, I've loved it. I really like the gimmick of the coaches not seeing the contestants initially. You could see some of them really light up as they realized that a coach wanted them on their team; and conversely, you saw one contestants hopes die as no buttons were pushed. How the show is going to work once the blind auditions areover? We'll have to wait and see. But I think it's got potential. The coaches will be working with their teams, so it'll be interesting to see what directions they push their team members towards.
I will buy Javier Colon's rendition of "Time After Time" ...it is outstanding. I didn't think anyone could/would/should ever be as special as Cyndi's version. His version is great. He is not pitchy, sharp or flat. Very personable, unique and talented. Maybe down the road, I'll tune in depending what is against it. For the firsst time since it started, I left IDOL
for CRIMINAL MINDS reruns. I just don't find the talent interesting. They can sing & might wind up on a cruise ship or lounge, but there is no Adam Lambert & he didn't win. Was it Kris Allen who did? Adam Lambert can sell tickets to a concert and so can Jennifer Hudson. Again, they didn't win. The Judges on VOICE seem nice, in fact, quite a pleasant surprise, so please let me know why I was yawning.
The fact that anyone picked Frenchie Davis after her terrible singing leads me to believe that the people to be picked are already determined and the question is just who's team they will be on. No one would have picked her after that terrible performance unless the picks were determined ahead of time, she is there for a little controversy.
Seems kind of huge over hype for a ho hum show maybe it will get better
Watch and Enjoy.
Well said and fairly said.
So...all you racial morons. You're just lookin for a fight.Blow it out ur ass!!
You fail to be part of the solution and continue to be part of the problem. Most of those racial comments apperared to come from our African American population...when are you gonna get it right.I am tired of making excuses for your behavior!
The point:.try being more of a person and less of a black..white...ect.
Good music ...some great singers with rice potential!
loved it – will watch it again – very entertaining.
It was very entertaining – i loved it – will watch it again to be sure.
I did watch some of it and SIMPLY COULDN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE when there was a commercial between EACH singer that lasted as long as the on-air time. Ugh. We'll DVR it and watch it FF in the future. But we'll definitely watch it.
I loved it. The way it open was wonderful to see all of them sing Crazy! Just showed how great these judges are. That sounded better then the record. A country boy like Blake singing a Gnarls Barley song wow. Now let's see them sing Who are you when I'm not around.
My boyfriend and I choose to watch this spur of the moment since nothing else was on. While we didn't think the opening song choice was very catchy I'm glad we decided watched the whole thing.
We were happy that all of the contestants were a good variety and a descent level of talent and several we even would listen to again. However, we also we're confused on HOW they were choosen and by whom they were picked.
I would've also preferred the judges not to be able to have seen each other. It did seem at times they were influenced by each other in that respect.
The Commercial breaks were more often than I would've liked even if some of them weren't that long. I just feel it took away from watching the show as a whole.
But overall it was enjoyable to watch and quiet humorous at some points. Though I could use with Cee Los u"Hey, Pretty Girl" comments. it's about their voice not their bodies. Hope he remembers that and doesn't show favortism to some of his choices.
To the person earlier who was wondering if looks really do matter.....ofcourse they do, have you been under a rock?! That is the point of the show......American Idol definitely uses looks in their determinations for the show. I enjoy this, because people of all ages who have talent, have a chance. I thought it was fun to watch and will be fun to have favorites to root for as it goes on....fun concept, and fun to see the judges not always get what they want too :)
Really loved the show, especially due to not being judged by your looks. I am surprised Christina Aguilera, who is the best female singer out there, took the offer. She is too super talented but it's nice she decided to have some fun. Good Choice Christina...you have always been better than Britknee Fears, Pinko, and GaG.
Why would anybody care if it was all white anyway? It was very mixed culturally but I'm just saying.....there's alot of black shows and white people don't complain about that. Would you complainers be happy if all the white people were omitted? Man... I can't get over how critical people are. Are any of you critics producing any spectacular shows that you want to brag about or do you just sit around and look for something to whine about? I liked the show and all the talent.... and that saucy blonde (Christina) is adorable!
A show about up and coming singers...what a novel IDEA...NOT
Managed to make it through the whole show.. but won't make the mistake again.. The only 2 things that made it the LEAST bearable were Christina's Boobs..(And all the " Closeups " thereof ) Although C-los Creept Stubby little T-rex arms DID distract me a bit
* Full Body Shudder*
I don't like much but I really liked this show. It was sort of "Shark Tank" meets American Idol.
I absolutely loved the show the talent was fantastic and the chemistry with the judges kept me glued to the set... idol who :)
I think Voice is a major feature of the Bene Geserit.
I thought it was great !!
My son & I really enjoyed it, it is so much better than Idol, we think. His bedtime is 9:30 but I let him stay up to 10:00 so he could watch the whole show. We will be watching next week :)
I watched this with my daughter, expecting it to be dreadfully boring. Instead, I was amazed at how talented some of the singers were. Who cares about the judges - some of the contestants are truly impressive. Has been a while since Idol had anyone as talented as half the singers who performed last night. Based on America's love for reality shows and the talent on-hand for "The Voice", I'd say this one's a hit for NBC.
GREAT show – did not turn away from the tv for the entire time, and cannot wait for the next episode. Awesome, talented people (not a bunch of people that do not belong before an audience) Love the show.
It was awful. I hated it. Too slow, too boring and i hope it gets canceled
I enjoyed the show and look forward to next week's installment. This is a fresh break from American Idol. I'm a 'convert' for sure.
The Voice was soooooooooo boring that I had to turn off in the middle of the show. Christina Aguilera looks too fat , like a Matrona , this show is boring and makes no sense.
So far, so good. At least there is the "premise" that they are chosen on talent, not their looks or "back stories".
I changed the channel. It's all a bunch of wanna-be-has-beens who didn't make it onto Idol or some other reality show. The judges have no chemistry with one another and seem to be trying harder than the contestants to impress the audience. Xtina looked like a pig stuffed into a dress. It's all very second-rate and dragged out to the point of being torturous.
I love it, I wasnt sure what to think of this Idol Like show, but I liked the twists of them not seeing the preformers and the judges are WAY more entertaining and interesting than the Idol judges, I'll watch it again. I like all of the judges as well, they all make good music, so they were good choices.
this already aired? they should have done some promotions for it
I differ with this review. This show was entertaining nd was truly about the voice rather than popularity. Idol reduces their judges to nothing but critiques. Here the judges actually play a role. I loved this show and will watch it again.
I have been watching the promo for a week or so. I loved the show. It was so much fun to watch the banter between everyone. I will watch to the end.
It like it because it is something different and you don't have to listen to the rotten people.
LOVED IT, LOVED IT, LOVED IT.
My mentor is Kenny Banya.
It's GOLD Jerry! Gold I tell ya!
Javier was amazing. I've seen him in person and he is extremely talented. I hope the show does well.
This show is about as entertaining as Christinas' last rendition of the Star Spangled Banner.
Yes, anyone that watches "reality" tv IS a moron. What else would you call people that really believe all that they see on tv is true? Must be the same morons that believe everything in print is true also?
The downside is hat it will be measured against American Idol which is immensely popular.Additionally, they try to build suspense by focusing on the judges to much. The viewers don't really care about arms ad fingers we'd like to see the performers. The upside...Christina Aguilara is boobalicious.
Besides too many commercials and not enough singing...I loved it! Christina marry me!
I am not an Idol fan so this was a refreshing change; I like the format too.
I really liked the show. There were a few "bumps", but overall I really enjoyed it.
It even had my co-workers and boss' talking about it at breakfast this morning. I have it on my DVR to watch some parts I missed. I will definitely be watching the whole season of the show.
And just because I noticed a lot of this – I wanted to clarify that I am not a big watcher of reality tv either. I have watched an episode here and there of Idol, never DWTS (except to watch NKOTB! :)) and none of the Real Housewives or anything like that.
The Voice was good because it was good. Not because I have a weird addiction to reality television.
I thought it was great. At least all of the contestants had at least a measure of talent. Idol has become tiresome. The contestants were good and interesting, but I love the the judges/coaches. And what a unique way to open the show – "Crazy" is an awesome song when it's just sung by Cee Lo Green, but by all of them – it was great! I really like the premise of the judges choosing contestants by just listening to them. GOOD SHOW! (for a change)
No I din't watch, and I don't plan on watching. I don't watch Idol, or DWTS or anything else to do with singing or claiming to be 'reality tv'. They should reclassify these shows as sad and tiresome tv.
Then why read the story, and why go further by commenting on it? Makes no sense.
Love it. Love the fact that they had to decide based on just the voice and not the appearance of the performer.
I like this show... I think it is well done with the introductions and info of the participants. I think its cool how the judges can only judge a voice FIRST. Christina needs to be careful: her facial expressions reveal way too much.
Cant stand idol anymore; this show was pretty good! The witty banter was perfect and i like the fact that a few singers had to choose amongst the judges. Even my kids liked it- we don't watch alot of tv but we'll watch this on tuesdays as long as they air it!
Loved the show! I thought I'd be disappointed with what I figured was an American Idol wanna-be, but I was pleasantly surprised that the show kept my interest the entire time! Great contestants too! It was a nice change to watch singers who all have a special gift instead of some that are only cast for ratings reasons, etc.
I really enjoyed it. I think the singers have more raw talent than some of the American Idol contestants that are left, and AI has had more coaching.
Loved it!!! I will be watching every week. Don't know what was up with all the criticism from the author of this article though???
Wasn't bad worth taping to see performances but I know I couldn't sit through it from beginning to end without having the ability to fast forward..
Interesting concept but the show fell flat for me. I didn't think the talent was all that great and I know the premise is for "blind" auditions but I just don't think it transfers well to entertaining tv, I like watching people perform, some of those contestants were practically singing with their hands stuffed in their pockets...I turned it off after the first hour due to boredom.
I think there should be a new show called "Watching Paint Dry" It would be more interesting than the 14 singing shows on tv currently. Then it could probably have its own spinoff.
Yes, another reality singing show, but it felt fresh. The banter between judges was great (oh! let the back-biting begin!) and singing was all over the place...some good, some bad and some brilliant (Javier – YEOW!!!).
Who exactly is "Blake Shelton"? The panel of "coaches" seems like of random.
Really? It's called Google....But I will tell you and save you some time...he is a VERY popular country music singer...
NBC is making this show look like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread-and it difinitly won't work on me. They did the same thing with The Cape....and look where that ended up. I say bring in more shows like LOST, drop all the stupid cop\law shows, and make Friday feature something other than Friday Night Lights.
Enjoyed it more than "Idol". I always wondered wny AI rarely featured talent, and if they knew how to find it.
I watched the show and thought it was OK, but I would like to see if the judges really have the talent they are supose to have. I would have liked to see each judge pick a western singer, a rock singer, a under twenty, over 40, a duet, etc etc.. that way the judge wouldn't just pick one type of singer and it is that type that is the winner. I wished it was more like a hockey or football draft, where you would have to fill out your team from different genres and coach them to the top. The pay off when the judges turn around wasn't big enough for me. I would have liked them to pick their team facing the other way the entire time and only seeing who they picked at the end of the hour. Or if your out of the bidding for the Voice your chair turns around but if you want to bid on a person you are really doing it blind and don't get to see your own choice. But other wise I think this show is worth watching and I'll watch for a couple of weeks to see if it continues to hold my attention.
Give me a show with Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul as judges and I'll watch it. Everything else is a weak, lame imitation.
Go back to the ghetto. Dont worry you only got a year of welfare left then king monkey will be out of office.
I don't get it. The hydraulic chairs are silly. Doubt season two will see the light of day if season one even finishes.
I doubt some of these "racist people" are even black....I smell troll
There are a couple of trolls-Yolanda X, Layonda, and a few more, the comments are all coming from the same person with these stereo-type names...just some sad soul looking to start some BS...but cover is blown!
From the promos, I thought this show looked totally lame and cheesy. However, I decided to watch the first 5 minutes after The Biggest Loser ended just to see how bad it was. I ended up watching the entire episode! I was pleasantly surprised. I really enjoyed it, much better than I expected.
Awful format, could not stand to watch more than 30 minutes. Worst thing in television in a while!
This is just another version of American Idol
G.S. SPEAKS THE TROOTH ! THAT WHITE GIRL BE CREEEEPY ! IS SHE A VAMPIRE ?
Hated it !!! I watch all the singing and dancing shows and this one is not going to make it. Simon was a great judge cause he didn't waste time lying to people about hteir future and there were plenty of them that needed to be told not to sing. Tough Love. The new judges are great together but they have a group of people that hardly ever screw up which has never happened so this year is kind of awkward for them. The Voice has no substance and is rather corny. I agree that Christina is a more quality singer than Brit....etc...Goodbye Voice.
Idol is played out. Both my wife and I found this show to have some appeal. I thought all the contestants chosen by the "coaches" were correct except for the duet couple. I'm sorry but they were horrible. The girl sounded like her voice could be alright if she chose another song that suited her voice but her husband was whack. I thought that grizzled broad from New Jersey had a better voice and should've been in the show over them. Some of the banter between the coaches is good but I think Christina goes overboard as if she is trying to take the attention for herself instead of keeping it on the contestants. I enjoyed Adam, Cee Lo, and Blake but Christina could be replaced by a monkey and it would be an improvement. My wife and I will definitely be watching this show. I'm really looking forward to the part of the show where they make contestants sing the same song and then chose the better one to stay. That sounds exciting.
There is no comparation between The Voice and American Idol, I l prefer thousand times more to watch American Idol. Hope this show ( The Voice) disappears as fast as it arrived. The judges are useless .
Therein lies the problem, Bjorn. You're looking at these coaches as judges. You can't honestly say that Idol judges have been providing insights this season. All I've heard this season is how good these contestants are. I'm sorry, but without Simon around there hasn't been anyone there to tell them the truth. While this show had a ton of commercials, at least they aren't full of promotions during the show like Idol has fallen in love with. Of course, I can't know that for sure at this point in time. I certainly hope The Voice's results shows don't end up like Idol's.
im in south africa and I hear the show is great! and its number 1 now..
We LOVED it, from age 2 to 40. It was funny, the music was great, and it wasn't showing adults picking on people or putting them down. Even those that didn't get chosen were told kind words to. American Idol has ended, we stopped watching years ago, when it was just a put down show with pre-teen girls voting for a cute boy.
And the writer says that they say looks aren't a factor, and "that someone auditioned them" are you kidding? Do you really believe any of those people who were chosen except for Kelsey Ray was based on looks.
Half of those people would NOT have made it onto American Idol except to be heckled and made fun of.
My family will be tuning in every week.
I wasn't expecting much when I started watching this show. I hadn't seen a lot of advance info on it, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the back and forth between the judges and it was interesting to see who the tried to pick up for their teams. I'll probably continue watching for now to see how some of the contestants pan out. As with American Idol, not everyone seems like a strong contender at the start.
Loved it...From the talent to the professionals....Levine comes across humble but intelligent, Cilo funny without the YoYoYo gimmick, Christina WHO KNEW she could be so candid and humorous...And Blake who I thought would be somewhat of the odd man out due to the Country back ground...Proved to be an important/entertaining element of the show....
Because the celebrities have to prove themselves it accomplishes what no other show with a celebrity panel has done...And that's make them relatable and human...BRAVO GUYS!!!
Can't get past the Oompa-Loompa (Cee-Lo) and never liked Aackulara's screeching voice so I'll pass.
I really enjoyed the show and has set my TiVo to record the whole Season. Two things bug me: why is there only one female coach? And, the coaches should keep that decisive push-the-button moment instinctive and "private" and not edging each other on to do it. One question: what if a coach get less then 8 singers on his/her team?
LET THE FESTIVAL OF DOOOODOOOO BEGIN ! SORRY TO RAIN DIARREAH ON YOUR HEADS BUT YOU ARE ALL LOOOSERS ! ALL OF YOUR HAIR IS DRIPPING FROM MY BEHIND EXPULSIONS !
I have to admit that I liked this show last night, in spite of hating Idol (because of that show's incessant screaming-fan factor, for one thing, which grated on my nerves). I liked not having to listen to a lot of bad singers. Just showing the already-decent singers competing against each other is way more interesting.
THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW FORM THE COAHES TO THE TALENT>>>>>>>>LLLLOOOOOOVVVVEEEEE IIIIIITTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have never been able to watch American Idol. The British X Factor is good because more often you get people who can sing even if not the most attractive. If you have a voice, makeup can make you a hit – just ask Lady Gaga.
Sure, it was a bit sappy, but the singers could sing and looks often does impact these shows. The young Indian woman was stunning but didn't get selected because she didn't impress them. I think because she had a bad song choice. She would have been a huge hit on American Idol. I hope she finds success along with the others.
I did LOVE the husband and wife team. She is the real star, but he needs some work. With the right training they will be a success.
LL IS JUST A LAME TROLL THAT WE SEE POSTING ON HERE ALL THE TIME. He or she is always talking about bowel movements trying to be funny. I wouldnt pay any attantion to that redneck looser.
what's a "looser"? been out of pre-k long, JAMMAL?
Really expeceted to hate it. But, didn't have anything else to watch so i gave it a shot. Love, love, love it!
Tarralyn Ramsey has already recorded 2 albums with major labels – 1 gospel and 1 RnB. Why does she still get to compete against those who never have had the chance? She is already a great singer!!!
I laughed my way through the show it was really good and I am going to be following it!
Watched it and totally enjoyed it!!! Finally a reality show showcasing music that's worth watching. The banter between the coaches made it that much more interesting. I'll def be returning next week to watch.
I enjoyed it, but they'll have to change it up for me to keep tuning in. Also, that big reveal with the guy from Texas was lame. Why would viewers be so surprised? Is it because he's black and has white parents? Is it because he has an afro?
BORING!!! Christina needs to go back out to the pasture and graze and Celo well he just needs to go.
to actually add excitement to the judges, there should be a wall between each one of them so they don't know which other judge has buzzed-in until after the performance is over. then let the "auction" begin
I was thinking about that as well, having the judges blinded from each other but I think if they did that there would be talent that got passed over because each judge would think that another had buzzed in and would take them or they would all buzz in for more contestants just to ensure someone had buzzed in. I can see the pitfalls of both sides.
Not great, but not bad. What they should have done was put the audience in the same situation as the judges. No pre-song introduction, and focus on the judges' reactions, not the performance (at least until one of them turns around). After their performance is over, then do the introductions.
It was enough of a difference to get me to tune in, and stay with it the night. I've never even seen any of Idol, other than clips on other shows, so it won at least that much. Not sure I'll stick with the whole season though, I'll have to see.
I liked the concept – its a little like Dragons Den here in Canada
I like it a lot
Great show, far better then any talent show out there. The coaches were very entertaining.
this show was boring, no class , no organization, made no sense to me.
That Agelera girl gave my kids nightmares. Where in the world did she get that horrible squeaky voice ? They shauld rename this show WHITE PEOPLE DONT GOT TALLENT.
i'm sure your parents are proud...
You must be Rush's son and Karl Rove and Sean Hannity's nephew. You can't even imitate a Black person and be believable.
Umm, you know Christina Aguilera is half Equadorian right?
Much better then Idol embarrassment!!!
Liked the show. The talent was diverse and loved the fact that older, talented people were given an opportunity to reach for their dream.
Just think, it's not even summer yet for when the really crappy shows will fill air time. Maybe they could do a singing and dancing while choosing a new husband/wife before getting voted out of the house!! I'm on pins and needles here!!
Thought I would hate it but watched and loved it. Wanted more and looking forward to next week. It seemed like it had the potential to drag but it kept up a good pace ... I was impressed. The new Idol is awesome though so I wouldn't compare the two...this is a very different format and we didn't have to sit through all of the tiring auditions like with Idol.
I was pleasantly surprised. The suspense of when the coaches would finally spin around in the chair nearly killed me, but I loved it! I was dying for Adam to finally get a team member. I really like 3 of the 4 judges
I enjoyed the show- I liked it a lot better than IDOL. However, I did not like Carson Daly hosting it- he acted like he was completely uninterested. I will continue to watch! I like the concept that they don't go by the person's looks!
Wow! Another singing show! That's certainly new to television. When is tv going to stop feeding us the same crap over and over! The show sucks, and so do all the others. I'll watch Discovery Channel instead.
Please do. That way we don't have to worry about reading your complaints about it week after week after week. That's the beauty of television and it's many channels. If you don't like something, you get to go watch something else and let the rest of us watch what we want.
It was a dissapointment. My family was looking forward to a fresh new show but it is just a tired old lame tallent show. Plus that white girl judge with the super white hair and pale skin is just creepy. Her voice gave me and my kids the chills. She is one creepy girl.
Jammal, are you also Yolanda X and Leyonda...same type of name, same racist comments and clearly you don't understand the culture you are trying to pretend to be...first Christina is not white, and everyone of color knows that but maybe you didn't get the memo so you thought you would use that to make folks thing people of color had a problem with her.
You poor soul, what a horrible miserable life you must live to be trapped by hate on all sides within your own being. Maybe a Dr of color will have to save your life one day, so that you can be gifted to learn that we are all just different shades of the same human race and your cause is only self destructive...
I was forced to watch this by my girlfriend and am now hooked. I hate reality shows but this one is different. The judges battle makes it interesting.
Overall it was a pretty entertaining show. After the whole Superbowl fiasco with Aguilera, I think it was a wise choice for her to go with the show. I've watched Idol but not a fan. I think The Voice seems interesting and therefore I think I will be following every week. The chemistry between the coaches also seem pretty solid. so 2 thumps up
I'm not much of a tv watcher, and there are only two shows I watch on a regular basis. I saw the "sneak peak" of The Voice this past Friday night when Jay Leno show was supposed to start. My husband is an avid Idol watcher, but I can hardly stand Idol–especially Ryan Seacrest and the new judges. But I loved The Voice. Great show, great and worthy judges, and Carson certainly outclasses Ryan. IAll the contestants had good voices, even the ones who didn't get picked. My favorites were Frenchie and the other two black contestants, and I'm not black. I'd never even heard of Frenchie until last night. What a voice! Idol messed up when they let cut her. Idol apparently has double standards–one for the contestants and a different one for the judges. I've watched Christina sing here and there over the years and always thought she was much better than Jennifer, Britney, Janet or Jessica. I also think her quirky faces just added a little more to the show. Apparently the writer of this article must get amused and entertained from the point at and laugh contestants who make fools of themselves on Idol. Last week when I listened to Idol from another room, it seemed that show had a commercial after each singer as well.
Very, very surprised how good it was. I think the opening number with the 4 mentors was great – something they should think about doing each week. Loved the format of the show. My only criticism (as with most shows), the number of commercials interrupts the flow of the show – cut down on the ad time a little and give us more program. Other than that, can't wait to tune in next week.
I totally agree about the commercials. It was almost like the show was interrupting them.
I loved it
I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, and I don't watch Idol that much.
I liked the show, largely because it was a different format and I thought the singers were good and the coaches were entertaining.
Just what we need another dumb reality show. Before too long that will be all thats on network TV.
I didnt watch it. I forgot about it.
will watch it later
run time of the program was 1h 24min.
so 36min of adverts.
Which is about normal for a 2h program
I thought the show was great, I found the coaches bantering pretty funny. looking forward to the next round
We don't even know how the show works yet.
– The blind auditions are the preliminary round only
– Then each "coach" gets to drop half of their team (let's get rid of the unmarketable ones here).
– Then something else happens
All we have so far is the personalities of the "coaches"
@ Diana, thats why its called The Voice you D O U C H E bag
It was great, I will watch next week.
I do think Cee Lo is a little perv'e with is remarks and the wierd rubbing of the hands together, like he is about to eat something.
The show to me has a diffrent feel to it. The feeling is really of being on the side of the singer, and yelling a the judges to PUSH THE BUTTON!
My husband and I enjoyed it. I think the show's competetion format will keep the teeny boppers from holding us hostage week after week, promoting a cute but not remarkable talent as on Idol.
I loved this show. quite entertaining. There was a lot of talent. and many different nationality. My grown children also watched it and we will continue to watch. I already have my DVR set just in case i forget or am not at home. I say let it keep keep on getting better and better. I am looking forward to it and can't wait for next week to see what's next.
My cable was out so I looked at all of the segments on line...
I LOVE the concept, I think finding artists who are already really in the game is also a great idea. They bring less excuses to the stage.
I'll wait impatiently to see how (and if) the team thing works.
We didn't get use to nice judges, these guys are way too nice, they just love everyone. Plus all of these guys are so nicely pre-screened, that it makes this whole show is so boring, because you know what to expect.
But, my 7 year old loved it.
Concept of the show is a Good Idea, but it seems like it's stacked with "Ringers", where I thought this was more of an Unfounded Talent Search to make a Star out of someone who is not. Like having Frenchie Davis. Here's someone who was on Idol, granted she didn't win or come close, but she was in the play "Rent". So that kind of sours it for me. Adam Levine was also kind of Desparate to get Anyone to join his Team, and the other Judges odd looks at him making it seem like he was the Joke/Loser of the Judge Panel (though that could have been the Editing of the F acial Expressions). All Around the Show was OK. Not sure if it will carry into Multiple Seasons.
And that's what I liked about the show, the contestants are all, already committed to a music career. Without the kind of exposure that a show like this can give them, they might struggle for decades and never find the success that "the right connections" can provide. OR, they could give up and go on to other things (like I did) and wonder what their lives might have been like.
This format gives people who have shown talent and who have committed that talent a chance that every musician dreams of.
If there were a math show like this, mathematicians would all be trying to be Charlie Eppes.
GREAT SHOW AND REAL TALENT
"Voice" is much better than I expected! It was promo'd so hard by NBC I was convinced they had a disaster on their hands. But it turns out it's a decent show...so far. I think the singing in this early round is better than early round singing in Idol. It will be interesting to see if the coaching on Voice is real coaching or just cheer leading. The "judges" on Idol, while pleasant people, come off as little more than cheer leaders ("Great job.") Jimmy Iovine is the only voice of reality on Idol. It will be interesting to see how Voice evolves as it goes on. Burnett knows how to produce a show, just look at The Donald!
I agree wholeheartedly with the peeps that say it is skeewed to whites with no rythm or soul. It is a show for wannnabees.
Well Yolanda, how do you explain all of the blacks on the show last night? Guess they were just tokens for the show huh?! I get so tired of this kind of talk and whining.
All talent shows are for wannabees. That what a talent show is. Take the blinders off, Yolanda. There were people of different races and ethnic origins on the show not just white folk.
Of the 12 people chosen last night, 4 were black, 2 were hispanic, & 6 were white. Of the judges, 1 is black and 1 claims to be latino. So far, looks to be pretty diverse to me. Did you even watch?
@Surf and Diane...look at the names of those with the nonsense about race, they are made up names they have been sent to incite problems, Yolanda X-and Levonya...those names are made up accounts...laugh in the face of this person, probably the same person with several accounts and they are just hateful and instead of wanting to spread love, want to start more problems with us sane folks...
Yolanda, I say take a break from trying to incite a cyber riot and go play in traffic after you have your next six pack dear.
Yolanda, there were more people of color than there were white people. I have a simple solution for you...DON'T WATCH.
I really, really enjoyed the show. I think the Coaches are hillarious and cute and really "fun" to watch! Their interactions with each other and with the contestants is really great. I'll be watching till the end.
It stunk. Just a show for untallented white folk.
Really? Here come the racist comments....Pretty sure I saw several blacks on the show last night including one of the coaches.
Apparently we were watching separate shows. I saw people of different races and ethnic origins. You must have been watching FOXNEWS
WHATEVER!!!! Why don't you just admit that you're a white racist pretending to be black so that you can start a race riot on here. No worries, we're ALL on to you and others like you. MOVE ON please....NEXTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT.
Unlike american Idol wannabees the contestants on this show actually have talent! For that reason, I enjoyed it and the banter between the celebs was amusing. II'll continue to watch.
I watch Idol.
I would argue that many, MANY of those "wannabees" actually have a great deal of talent. It is just much less defined and refined.
The show also works hard to create the illusion that the show adds gravitas and skill to the contestants. While I'm sure that the Idol crew adds to their presentation skills and image, they can do very little on the talent front. Either you have a good "instrument" (voice) to play on or you don't.
I really enjoyed the show. I am glad we don't have to deal with days and days of embarrasing tone-deaf people. We got straight to the Gold, and even some people that were good, were kicked off because the judges just didn't feel it. The only thing that creeped me out were Cee Lo Green's teeth – creepy.
haha! You're right – Cee Lo's teeth are way creepy!
I really liked the show as did my kids. I can't wait to see more!
Thought it was a little slow moving.....boring.
I liked the show but I don't think the judges should be able to look at each other as they are deciding whether to push the button or not. There were many times it looked like they were trying to read the other judges whether they were going to push the button or not. They just need to extend the sides of the judges chairs like blinders so they can't see the other ones. Good show though, I like how they have to "sell" themselves if there's more than one judge.
I enjoyed it much more than I've enjoyed American Idol for the past 3 seasons.
It sucks, just like any other reality show. An anybody that watches them is just showing all how truly moronic they really are!!!
Really, so anyone watching any type of reality is a moron? So then how did you find out that in your own opinion you didn't like the show?
And yet you have an opinion. Hmmmm – did you watch? Guess that's the old pot and kettle.
So how did you come to realize that you're a MORON too? Hmmm....By any chance, did you WATCH it like the rest of us? Please don't speak so ill of yourself.
Wow, John. That's pretty harsh. Do you watch sporting events? Those are reality too, if you really think about it. How about the news? In reality, there aren't many shows that aren't based on reality. With the costs associated with production, it's really no surprise why networks are so enamored with reality television. Cheaper production, more sponsorships, and finally the amount of viewers that are drawn to reality television can't be ignored. Economically these are win-win scenarios for television networks and businesses. A little food for thought.
I really enjoyed the show as well. I like shows where they showcase true talent who's music I will probably buy. The only person I've purchased music from off of 'Idol' was 'Kelly Clarkson' and 'Fantasia'.
I loved it. Saw the previews and thought I would. The judges are a nice mix and have great personalities. Personally, I like this better than Idol. The contestants were much better also. Just sorry part of it competes with Dancing with the Stars.
think Christina Aguillera was more entertaining trying to sing the American Anthem, every day she looks fatty , like a big old lady, her voice is far from good. The Voice is really bad.
I didnt like it. There werent enough African Americans on it. I believe this could end up being a racist show. Maybe it will be american idol for white peoples with no tattant.
What show were you watching? Last time I looked, Cee Lo was black. Christina Aguilera is Latina as were some of the contestants. And this is only the first show and you're already with the race card bit?
Maybe you should be watching Soul Train reruns instead.
Well it didn't take long for someone to start in with the racist comments! Jeez. Plus, I just don't see how you can say this show isn't diverse! I thought they had quite a few people from all walks of life and showcased them all equally and well.
Really? I was pleasantly surprised when I saw such a wide variety of folks on the show. Interracial couples, lesbian couples... The casting seems really progressive and current.
I call sarcasm. Over half the singers were black.
Your comment is not true at all...but if you are so unhappy, you should go watch BET instead.
I am sure that remark was written by a white person looking to get the race conversation started....and no surprise, many fell for it. I am so tired of lame, no life having, sickos always having to throw race in the mix. The show had a good mix of people period so it should be obvious that the person that wrote the comment just wanted to get responses. Really?? Get a life!!
I absolutely agree that this comment was not written by a black person, most people of color do not refer to themselves
as African Americans, that's PC for other races to refer to as such, this person is one of those bad apples that tries to get into the mix and mess up the joy of others....most people on this post were united in the fact that this show is good fun, nothing negative to it...and yes, this person is a racist no matter what race they are and should be condemned.
Most of us are so over the race issue on both sides, but the hatred of a few keep many folks divided, its a shame. But the show had so many perfect moments...
What show were you watching? There was an East Indian, Whites, Blacks, Latinos, Gays, Straight, Short, Tall, Slim, Heavy, Beautiful (all of them), so what more do you want?
Um... 4 of the 9 contestants were African American... Are you just looking for a reason to use the Race Card? Ever hear of the little boy that cried wolf?
Trantola, it is a lie–ignorance is not bliss. I believe the blogger asked for opinions on wether or not you liked the show–why does race, a person's weight or arrogance for that matter have to be of issue? A show offering everyday citizens with mega talent–who may never have gotten such an opportunity to showcase their talent–giving them a shot at potentially pursuing a career utilizing said talent–is a great thing! Some people spend too much time focusing on tiny insignificant things. I don't like peanut butter–it's simple, I don't buy it and I don't eat it. We are each free to utilize the same option when watching TV. Positive outcomes–always start with positive outlooks. Was the show great? Maybe not to you. Was it terrible? Not to all of us and both opinions are fine. But, it's just not not that serious to prompt rudeness or anger either way! It is indeed possible to agree to disagree–try it!
Seriously!? you are pulling that card? i think this show was really awesome kept me on the edge of my seat and i did not see any problems with more races then another!
I think it would have been nice to have been given more understanding as to how they even found the contestants. It's an interersting concept, and it kept my attention for the duration, but I can't say I was jumping out of my seat with excitement. Seems VERY staged to me.
I think the content and format of the show was good but the awkwardness when the coaches turned around and actually saw who was singing was the key to the whole show (some noticably campaigned to push singer away from themselves to other judges). It would have been far more enjoyable if there were not commercials after every performance. They need to supply the viewers with more singers in each set.
Totally agree. My favorite part was seeing the judges faces when they turned around. I don't think anyone knew what to say after Beverly!
Really enjoyed the show! I think the four judges they chose for the show were such a great combination and like that all the contestants already can carry a tune so there is no completely horrible reactions to someones voice. Even Carson was pretty good. I liked that his communications during this round were strictly with the contestants and family, he kept it about them and he wasn't out on stage with the judges throwing out his two-cents/bantering with the judges as it is with other shows. I think this show has huge potential and while the critics may be giving it a hard time (can't see how this show is already getting some harsh words but the obvious decline on idol still gets raves), I think the rave reviews from the fans speak for themselves. Will continue watching and hope it gets another season!
this show is soooo annoying, it bored me to death. adios The Voice, how about changed the name of the show "The Boring and Annoying" show.
Yes I will be watching this show ! What a refreshing change ! I Don't get the griping from the author of this article...the show was different, there is rivalry, common sense, empathy, and some ridiculously good talent.
Agree- It's a really fun show. I enjoyed it and will continue to watch. Showcased some pretty amazing talent.
Pretty good show but too many commercials.
I completely agree. If you are going to have a 2 hour show, you have to give us a little more than a new singer every 9 mins. The songs they sing are two minutes tops and the banter of the judges and intros is no more the 2 mins which means we watched a hour of commercials last night.
Yea ur right, but you should have invested in some type of DVR by now guys...Commercials are for people that actually have money to buy useless stuff....I take my "useless stuff money" and blow it on DVR (10.00/mth)–take that big business. I haven't watched a commercial since 2005 lol
There was a commercial after every performance. It annoyed me.
I thought the very beginning when they all sang was a great way to open the show. It showed why these people are the judges! Not that I want to hear JLo, she surely can't sing, why she is a judge is beyond me. Anyway, I enjoyed the show. I will watch it again. No I don't watch Idol! Yes, they should of replaced Simeon with Christina!
I completely agree with you! Regardless of this article, I loved how it opened up with the judges/coaches performing a hit song. I didn't know who Cee Lo was until this show and prefer him over Randy; Christina over JLo anyday! Me and my husband loved the show and are curious to see how it will unfold. One criticism: The judges/coaches shouldn't have been allowed to turn around at all. They should keep it "blind" the whole season. Now THAT would have been interesting.
So long, Idol!
The Voice is not good, , not sure who had this 'great idea' to start this show but I have news to the producers , The VOice is not good at all , and please do not make this fat Chrisitina and the fat Cee Lo Green sing, they are not ugly and fat. maybe they should be in the Loser show.
@Bonita in Las Vegas
The Voice came from Holland ... it's a smash hit on TV there, and NBC bought the rights to it here. It has a proven record of success. No one just randomly came up with the concept, LOL.
Some people are so fawkin stupid!
Yes they should have – not they should of. Common mistake made by people
Why is it that they have to have their backs to them? It makes me kinda wonder if looks really do matter. I am just saying.
Unfortunately, looks DO matter and play a large role in decisions, irregardless of the talent.
I'm sorry but did you not pay attention to the ENITRE point of the show? It is supposed to be about "The Voice" not the looks of stage performance.
"irregardless" is NOT a word! UGH!
"Michael" needs to buy a dictionary or learn the language. "irregardless" is in FACT a word. And, for his feeble mind, I will use it in a sentence: "This blog has valuable input from viewers, irregardless of what Michael thinks."
Forget the looks. When you take away from a particular sense, the other senses are heightened. Don't believe me. I actually closed my eyes when the contestants were performing. It actually made a massive difference in the experience. I could hear their tones better. In fact, 2 of the performances left me reeling. Come As You Are was haunting and Time After Time was brilliant. It's pretty interesting how it changes everything, when you aren't actually watching the performance.
um, i don't believe you used irregardless correctly. If "regardless" means "not involved with" and "ir" is the prefix for "not, then your saying that whatever he says does matter. It would be better used in the sentence " It is irregardless of anyone who cares for endangered wildlife."
Michael can spell, and irregardless is not really a word. Per dictionary.com: irregardless
an erroneous word that, etymologically, means the exact opposite of what it is used to express, attested in non-standard writing from at least 1870s. See the rest of it at http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/irregardless
Michael IS correct about the use of "irregardless." Here you go, MichaelCantSpell, or should I call you Einstein?
Irregardless is an informal term commonly used in place of regardless or irrespective, which has caused controversy since it first appeared in the early twentieth century. Most dictionaries list it as "nonstandard" or "incorrect".
People who use the incorrect word look like idiots. Buy yourself a real dictionary.
I enjoyed it. I really like the set up and how the singer chooses. Cannot wait to see how the coaches mentor and shape the style and voices of the contestants. This is good and actually, I like it better than Idol. Idol wastes a ton of time of singers that cannot sing. I'm not sure what the fuss has been over Pia as she sings well but is not that outstanding. I will be tuning it for the Voice–plus, love Ceelo!!
You 're so right about Pia. She's a wannabe that will never be. So glad she got kicked off. She was very stale and BORING.
Loved it!! Loved the format - the voice alone is judged. It will be interesting to see if the "voice" still out ways the "looks" as the show progresses.
Have to disagree with you re Carson Daly. I found him to be very interested in what was happening. He even made comments like "Come on, Blake" and he talked with the families during the performances. I do agree that it is better than Idol. I especially loved the fact that we didn't have to sit through idiotic people auditioning.
did not like this show at all, it was tastless, boring and Christina is too chuby and her voice sucks.
@ Patricia – Why do people always comment on the weight of a FEMALE? Ce Lo is much chubbier than Christina... why not comment on HIS weight?
What I loved most was not being bogged down with massive sob stories and promotions, which American Idol has become saturated with. Plus, it's refreshing seeing nothing but talented singers.
I liked it. The judges trying to win over people I thought was really cool. I will definitely be watching this.
Really enjoyed it!!!
to the people who think that the Voice was good they are delusional, maybe we watched a different show , because according to my friends and myself included The Voice was not entertaining, they all looked desperated , Christina looked so arrogant, after 10 minuts of watching this boring show we turned the tv off and laughed so much , making fun of this show.
I really liked this show. I plan to keep watching. Finally, something on NBC worth watching!
Wasn't impressed with the show. Especially with the X factor coming this year...these talent shows end up producing a winner who everyone forgets about by the next season.
I agree. I though the shows concept was stupid, swinging chairs around etc. I understand the quality of hearing a voice without seeing the person as we all tend to be biased and prejudiced to some extent and looks should not interfere with the talent. However, another singing show is not needed, and this one certainly got flushed in my house.
The Voice is terrible, no talent all the singers sounded boring, irrelevant and taste less. Nothig compares to American Idol . American Idol is a bilion times interesting and better.
When I heard that Adam Levine was going to be on it, I knew I was going to watch it. Then after seeing all of the promos, I thought it looked like a good show. The verdict–I really enjoyed it!!! I thought the mentor's banter was great and I think it's an updated concept on the tired Idol format.
I agree. It was lots of fun.
it made no sense to me, this show should go away soon. It was very painful for me to watch this terrible "The Voice " show that immediatelly I changed channels.
Anything with Carson Daly in it deserves to be ignored.
Hey Dugan, I don't think you should be commenting on someone else's IQ when you can even handle simple grammar. (Hint Hint. – It's "your," not "you're".) And what does anyone's weight have to do about liking a show? If you don't like it, don't watch it. Simple.
i agree, i loved it all. i like how they only have great voices on the show, i love the fact that u cant see them unless u enjoy there voice! its all about singing not just pretty faces...I have never missed an episode of idol, now they might have fight on there hands
Simon should have grabbed Christina for the X Factor
My sister set this to record while I was visiting yesterday.... so I caught the first 5 minutes. I never knew that Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton were the 4 biggest names in the music business lol.
Had to watch DWTS, so recorded The Voice. After several minutes, I deleted the program. Big Yawn....the way television is going these days. Too bad.
no, way, The voice is irrelevant and Chistina is full of herself, I can not stand that chubby woman. her voice is terrible , it sounds like dogs are barking. This show sucks.
@B=Dog. I agree with you! I'm sure there were bigger artists that could've judged that show. When they announced the judges saying they were "the 4 biggest names in music" I looked at Xtina and Ce Lo Green and thought, Lady Gaga is mroe famouse than you both.
Thank you so much for adding your tasteful comment to this discussion. (In case it is lost, this comment is heavy with sarcasm)
No offense but don't you get tired of the schlock getting shoved down your throat?
I mean really, how bankrupt creatively has all this gotten? When was the last time there anything remotely new or engaging on network TV? Survivor 1? Are good writers really that expensive? Or any writers at all? The bar just gets lower and lower.
You have other options...so don't watch if you don't like it!!
Nothing is being shoved down anyone's throat. This is the United States of America. We have choices. Some people choose to watch one particular type of shows while others choose a different type of show. And, in this country it is not only legal and allowed, but encouraged. We have hundreds of channels to CHOOSE from, just like you do. If we lived in a different country we wouldn't have these choices. That's what makes this place awesome. So, make your choice and go watch something else. No one will bash you for doing that. You're allowed to do it.
Perfectly said. Thank you.
Our country needs more people like you who understand that opinion is opinion and not fact. People can like what they want, doesn't make them wrong or right. Thank you for commenting on a board that is filled with morons. There is still hope for internet bloggers yet.
