Hilary Swank headed to 'Oz'?Hilary Swank's next acting gig could take her somewhere over the rainbow. The two-time Oscar winner is being eyed for a role in the upcoming "Wizard of Oz" prequel. According to Vulture, director Sam Raimi wants Swank to play an elder witch in "Oz, the Great and Powerful." The upcoming fantasy flick tells the backstory of such beloved characters as the Wizard and Glinda the Good Witch, and reveals info about the lesser-known Wicked Witch of the East, Evanorah, who had a house fall on her when Dorothy dropped in. But if Disney has its way, Swank will get cast when monkeys fly: The studio reportedly is urging Raimi to hire Michelle Williams instead. 'The Killing' star to play Brad Pitt's on-screen wifeTwo of the stars from AMC’s “The Killing” are slaying the competition. Both Mireille Enos, who portrays Detective Sarah Linden on the show, and Joel Kinnaman, who plays the other detective, Stephen Holder, have snagged major feature film roles, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Enos is in talks to star as Brad Pitt’s wife in the actor’s upcoming adaptation of Max Brooks’ “World War Z.” Pitt himself is starring as a U.N. worker in the movie, which recounts a global zombie apocalypse through the first-hand accounts of those who survived it. Depp to do cameo in '21 Jump Street' movieLooks like Johnny Depp is moving back to "21 Jump Street"—the actor is set to make a cameo in the big-screen adaptation of his popular '80s TV series. As Marquee previously reported, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will headline the movie about cops who go undercover as high school students. According to Entertainment Weekly, Depp—who starred on the Fox series with Holly Robinson Peete, Peter DeLuise and Dustin Nguyen—will also play a small role in the film. Hill, who co-wrote the script, has long said he wanted Depp to be a part of the movie. "Hopefully, he does it," he said back in November. "It would be awesome if he did it." Let’s face it – the pressure will only increase after she’s married! I do feel bad for her, but hey, it’s not like she doesn’t know what she’s getting into! And it certainly goes with the territory of being in the royal family. What do you think? Post your thoughts below. Other big stories on the show today… Tracy Morgan takes on Donald Trump, Charlie SheenComedian Tracy Morgan has some not-so-funny words for headline-making stars Donald Trump and Charlie Sheen. In a new interview with PopEater, the "30 Rock" star puts each of the scandal stirrers in his place. In recent weeks, potential GOP presidential candidate Trump has questioned whether President Barack Obama was born in the U.S. and has demanded to see his birth certificate. "Tell him I've got it and it's in Brooklyn, and if he wants to see it come and get it," Morgan said. "Let's see if his a— will come down to Brooklyn and get it. He needs to leave the President alone, he's the President. Come on, man, nobody got no time for Donald Trump. Go build buildings, go play with your Lego set. We don't give any credence to that." Levi Johnston writing Palin tell-allIf you think you’ve heard everything Levi Johnston could possibly say during his 15 minutes of fame, think again. It turns out that Sarah Palin’s former future son-in-law has enough material on his relationship with the Alaska-based brood to fill an entire book. Johnston, “best known as Bristol Palin’s baby daddy,” according to a statement, will “set the record straight” in his upcoming text, “Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin’s Crosshairs.” Has 'Three Stooges' discovered its Moe?After weeks of searching, it appears an actor has finally been found to play Larry and Curly's cranky counterpart in the upcoming "Three Stooges" movie. According to Deadline, Chris Diamantopoulos is the front-runner for the role in the Farrelly Brothers comedy. Diamantopoulos, who is married to "Ugly Betty" star Becki Newton, replaces Benicio Del Toro (who was originally set to play Moe) and beat out rumored contenders such as Hank Azaria. U.S. shows up for BAFTAWhile so many Americans are embracing all things British thanks to the royal wedding, our friends across the pond are returning the favor. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this year's British Academy Television awards includes nominations for "Boardwalk Empire," "Glee," and "Mad Men." The three series are up for the International Award, along with the Danish drama "The Killing." AMC recently launched a U.S. version of the latter show. The awards show will be held held at the Grosvenor House Hotel in London on May 22. Michael Douglas: Catherine Zeta-Jones is doing 'great'Catherine Zeta-Jones has been helping husband Michael Douglas shoulder a lot within the past year, not the least of which being his battle to beat stage 4 throat cancer, the Oscar-winning actor told Oprah Winfrey on her show Tuesday. But a few months after Douglas revealed that he'd won his fight with cancer, Zeta-Jones came forward and confirmed that she'd sought treatment for bipolar II disorder. Her rep told CNN in a statement, “After dealing with the stress of the past year, Catherine made the decision to check into a mental health facility for a brief stay to treat her bipolar II disorder." Indeed, dealing with a health problem of that magnitude is "very hard [on] the spouse," Douglas told Winfrey. And on top of that, he went on, "My son’s in federal prison, my ex-wife is suing me...it’s kind of hard for the wife to say that she’s depressed." Ryan Phillippe is not quitting actingDon't believe those rumors that Ryan Phillippe is ready to leave behind his acting career. According to his rep, Phillippe has plenty of emoting ahead of him. "He’s been talking about expanding his talents to producing and directing, but he has no plans to stop acting nor did he ever say that he was considering doing so," the spokesperson tells "Access Hollywood." Phillippe sparked reports of his retirement in an interview with the New York Post's Page Six. Speaking about celebrity, he said, "It's so hard to go out in LA. I'm going to move. I'm going to spend a third of my year in New York." |
