Ahead of the curve: Weekly pop culture cheat sheet

Calling all fans of “Upstairs, Downstairs”!

If you miss the days of watching this miniseries on BBC’s “Masterpiece Theater,” which ran from 1974 to 1977, then you are in luck.

“Upstairs, Downstairs” is returning to PBS as a sequel to the story of life at 165 Eaton Place in London, six years after the former owners, the Bellamys, left. The year is 1936 and we catch up with the longtime maid Rose Buck (played by original cast member, Jean Marsh) and the new owners, the Hollands.

The miniseries, which is returning after 34 years, will be airing on Sunday, April 10 9pm ET. The second and third part will each air on the following Sundays.

Here are a few things you might also want to catch this week.

Sunday:
There is a new episode of “The Amazing Race” which takes place in Varanasi, India airing at 8pm ET on CBS. Also on this weeks’ “Celebrity Apprentice,” the team have to organize a public marketing event for sunscreens! Catch this and more at 8pm ET on NBC.

Monday:
In the fourth week of “Dancing with the Stars,” all the star dancers will have to learn and perform the Waltz. Will Kirstie Alley’s tumble save her again this week? Tune in at 8pm ET on ABC to find out.

Tuesday:
Can’t quench your Twilight thirst? Is waiting for November’s “Breaking Dawn Part 1” too painful? On Tuesday Twilight series author, Stephanie Meyer will be releasing “The Twilight Saga: The Official Illustrated Guide.” It is basically pages and pages of encyclopedic information on the books and tells you everything about Edward and Bella’s world. So hurry to your nearest bookstore!

New music album releases on this day include “Wasting Light” by the Foo Fighters, “Paper Airplane” by Alison Krauss and Union Station, and “Who You Are” by Jessie J.

Wednesday:
“Cougar” and “Scream 4” star Courteney Cox and “Parks and Recreation” actor Aziz Ansari will appear on the “Late Show with David Letterman” along with a performance by Alison Krauss and Union Station. On CBS at 11:35pm ET.

Thursday:
Harry Potter fans should look out for the DVD and Blu-ray release of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I.” Potter-heads can also expect deleted scenes, behind-the-scenes footage, and special interviews with the cast members.

Also Tyler Perry and Kendra Wilkinson will be on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” along with a performance by indie rock band, The Brightlights, on NBC 11:35pm ET.

Friday:
If you are looking to do something with the family, catch the latest animated flick “Rio,” starring the Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and George Lopez. But if you want some screams and 90s slasher film nostalgia, head to the theaters to watch “Scream 4.” Original cast members from the movie trilogy will be returning including Courteney Cox, Neve Campbell and David Arquette, along with new members like Hayden Panettiere and Emma Roberts. Apart from watching the masked killer attack again, it will be interesting to see the separated couple, Cox and Arquette, work together again.
