Lauren Conrad gets a new book deal

Lauren Conrad has the write stuff.

The former star of MTV's "The Hills" told Us Magazine that she has scored a three-book deal with HarperCollins  following the success of her debut teen novel.

Conrad's first book, "L.A. Candy," scored a number one spot on the New York Times Best Sellers list. She said her trilogy, titled "The Fame Game," will feature Madison Parker, a character from her first novel.

"We took the mean girl of the [ L.A. Candy book], spinning her off," Conrad told the publication. "This series is about a girl who loves everything that fame is, and that's all she's ever really wanted. [Madison] has fun with the press, she enjoys the attention, she welcomes scandal!"

As to whether the character is based on Conrad's former co-star, Heidi Montag, the reality star turned fashion designer and authoress said "No. We have fun with it! We kind of take [Hollywood] stereotypes."
