He's landed one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood and now Henry Cavill is getting ready to take the Man of Steel to new heights. His preparation plans for "Superman"? A lot of studying, and a lot of sweating.
"I'm just picking out as much as I possibly can from the comic-book history," he tells MTV News, "because obviously it's plastered across there as to who this man is. ... It's just picking up a general idea of who he is and working from there."
"Superman is Superman, after all," he adds. "There's only so much of a change you can make to that."
That's not to say Cavill himself won't undergo a change. The actor, who packed on muscle to play a mythic Greek warrior in the November epic "Immortals," will return to the gym for his role as the Son of Krypton.
"The hard work really begins now when I go to L.A. That's going to be exciting,” he tells Movieline of transforming his body to play Clark Kent in the December 2012 release. "It's going to be a different kind of shape. When you see the 'Immortals' shape you'll see what I mean … It'll be fine-tuned and tweaked as we go along. But I think it's going to be a different sort of shape from 'Immortals.'"
The former star of "The Tudors" adds that he can't wait to see himself completely in character.
“There have been some concept costume fittings,” he reveals to Movieline. “I'm so excited — it's fantastic … As soon as you don the cape and the S shield, it's one of those things where you go, ‘Wow — this is real.'”
