'Social Network' actor cast as 'Snow White' prince

The production team behind “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White" has found its prince in “Social Network” star Armie Hammer, according to E! News.

Hammer joins Julia Roberts in this updated take on the Snow White tale, which will incorporate more humor and adventure. In this version, Snow White teams up with the seven dwarfs to take back "what's rightfully hers" after her stepmother kills her dad and destroys the kingdom, according to a press release. The search is still on for an actress to play the lead.

In other Snow White movie news, it looks like Viggo Mortensen has dropped out of Universal’s “Snow White and the Huntsman," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This rendition, which would have the Huntsman take Snow White under his tutelage after she's banished by the Queen, teaching her to fight for herself, has Kristen Stewart as Snow White and Charlize Theron as the evil royal.

Both movies are due out in 2012.

It's cuz they're cheap. The story is public domain. No royalties, no writers salary.
