That's what Casey Abrams was Thursday night on "American Idol" when the judges used their one and only save to prevent him from leaving the competition.
"Are you really?" the surprised singer asked, while shaking and looking ready to pass out. "Why would you do this? I can't believe it."
And he wasn't the only one. The use of the save so early in the competition reverberated among the "Idol"-ators, who'd watched the incredibly talented front-runner turn in two lackluster performances. That, coupled with the fact that he performed in the unenviable first-to-sing slot Wednesday night, may have almost done him in.
But when the judges saved him only a few lines into his song, it was a moment which became – so far – THE moment of the show.
Billboard.com co-signed that and tweeted, "Casey Abrams is going to vomit. He's shaking, probably scaring the judges + Seacrest. And I love every second of it!"
Fan Franc Aledia tweeted, "Still trying to recover from American Idol last night...wow!" and iReporter Al Mealey said the show was one of the best in the series' history. Another iReporter, Kathi Cordsen, said that because of the save, her "faith in the judges has been restored."
But not everyone was thrilled. Viewer Lee K. tweeted, "Still mad that casey didn't get voted off last night" while Ryan Miner wrote, "I just watched the video of Casey Abrams getting saved on American idol. After that weird act, I now want him voted off."
What do you think? Is Casey staying a good thing, or a bad? Was it good TV or over the top?
