'Idol' greetings from Facebook

Get ready to offer a "Happy Birthday" with a little help from one of the "American Idol" contestants.

The New York Times reports that starting on Friday, fans will be able to send a video birthday greeting or a "poke" from one of the Top 10 "Idol" finalists for a fee of $1.

The offer comes courtesy "Idol's" deal with the Cameo Stars application. The company behind the application films celebs in front of a green screen and gives the appearance that the star is speaking directly from the user's Facebook page.

To further entice fans, the promotion involving the "Idol" Top 10 also features a contest in which the winner will receive a pair of tickets to the show's finale.
