Though he seems born to play the part, Johnny Knoxville has no plans to play the part of Moe in the upcoming "Three Stooges" movie.
The "Jackass" star, who was rumored to be a front-runner for the role, made his announcement official in a recent statement on Knoxville.com. "I will not be appearing as Moe in 'The Three Stooges,' I love the Stooges, and I love the Farrellys," he said. "A couple of movies I have lined up kept me from it. More on those later."
As Marquee previously reported, the "Three Stooges" movie is slated to begin shooting in April but still has no cast. The PG comedy—featuring three 27-minute shorts filled with slapstick—was to star Sean Penn, Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey as Larry, Moe and Curly, respectively. Penn and Carrey exited the project and Del Toro still remains a question mark.
"We got everything in place, but we don't have the cast yet," filmmaker Bobby Farrelly recently told CNN. "But we're looking diligently. There's a lot of good guys out there."
