Orlando Bloom on fatherhood and Elvish tattooOrlando Bloom is bracing himself for a very exciting year. Besides being a first-time dad, he's about to appear on 450 movie screens in a live Shakespeare broadcast and is also contemplating getting a new tattoo. Bloom and supermodel wife Miranda Kerr welcomed son Flynn in January and the actor says he couldn't be happier. "I'm 34 and it’s great timing actually," he tells the Hollywood Reporter. "It's the best thing. I can highly recommend it." Playing dad may be a breeze, but he admits he's terrified about his next role: starring as Romeo opposite Anika Noni Rose's Juliet in a Los Angeles Philharmonic Shakespeare production that will be broadcast live into movie theaters March 13.
"We're doing the balcony scene. It’s a quick romantic engagement," says Bloom, who admits that the very thought of the live simulcast "terrifies me. I'm going to try not to think of it." Bloom will find himself in more familiar territory when he reprises his "Lord of the Rings" role as Legolas in "The Hobbit," which is about to begin filming in New Zealand. The Brit and his "LOTR" co-stars previously sealed their bond by getting tattoos of the Elvish word for "nine" — a reference to the number of members of the Fellowship — and Bloom says he wouldn't rule out getting inked again. "I wouldn't say no," he says, "but I don't know what that would look like you know." |
