Almost a year after his death, rapper Guru is being remembered with a clothing line.
The X Label G.U.R.U. line has been formed with the intent of "Preserving his MESSAGE, his MUSIC, his LEGACY" according to information from the company.
"Guru’s prolific lyrics and profound voice has left a permanent mark in hip hop history," said an e-mail from the company to CNN. "His purpose was clear and driven from the heart. This clothing line seeks to uphold the message and continue the mission of a legend."
The rapper, who was born Keith Elam, died in April 2010 at the age of 43 after a battle with cancer. He rose to fame in the 1980s as one half of the duo Gang Starr, in which he shared the spotlight with his partner-in-rhyme, DJ Premier.
The Guru clothing line is a collaboration with The X Label and Listen clothing. An e-mail from the company states that a percentage of all sales will go into a trust fund for the rapper's son, KC.
