Is Randy Jackson the new Simon on 'Idol'?

Is there a new Simon Cowell on the "Idol" block?

Lots was made of the fact that Season 10 would be missing our favorite British bad boy in his role as the judge who willing to tell the truth even if the audience disagreed.

Well, at least for one night, judge Randy Jackson appears to have picked up that gauntlet. During Wednesday night's performances by the Top 12 girls, Jackson was the only one who didn't find the vast majority of the contestants "amazing."

Diane Lane cast as Superman's mother

Diane Lane cast as Superman's mother

Henry Cavill's Superman now has a mom: Diane Lane has been cast in the role of Martha Kent for director Zack Snyder's new take on Supes, according to a press release.

Lane will play the Kryptonian's adopted mother, who finds Superman as a baby in a rocketship, which crash lands in Smallville. Snyder said in a statement, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”

The role of her husband, Jonathan, has yet to be cast, but there's a lot of buzz around Kevin Costner for that role.

Jimmy Fallon gets his own Ben & Jerry's flavor

Jimmy Fallon gets his own Ben & Jerry's flavor

Jimmy Fallon found a cool way to mark the second anniversary of "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon": with a Ben & Jerry's ice cream named in its honor.

Fallon, Ben Greenfield and Jerry Cohen announced on the funnyman's show last night that the treat will be called Late Night Snack— vanilla bean ice cream with a salty caramel swirl and fudge-covered potato chip clusters— and will soon be making its way into Ben & Jerry's scoop shops.

The idea for the ice cream came about last summer when Ben & Jerry's requested a meeting with Fallon after seeing him perform a tribute to the dairy duo with his faux band Ladysmith Snack Mambazo.

Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin: The Oscars kiss you didn't see

Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin: The Oscars kiss you didn't see

James Franco and Anne Hathaway weren't the only controversial couple at Sunday night's Oscars. Presenters Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin shared a same-sex smooch on stage but it was cut out of the telecast.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Bardem and Brolin did a little dance and then kissed as they made their way to the podium. But the camera cut to Bardem's wife, Penelope Cruz, as the two made their entrance, and neither the dance nor the kiss were seen.

Oscars producer Bruce Cohen, however, insists the routine wasn't cut because audiences might find it too scandalous.

“It [the dance and the kiss] was unscripted, and the plan in the truck was always to cut to Penelope in the audience applauding Josh’s and Javier’s introduction, so that is what happened, just as they were starting to dance," Cohen told AfterElton in a statement.

"Josh and Javier’s moment (I saw them start to dance, but, to be honest, I have no idea if they kissed — that’s the first I’ve heard of that) would have made a great TV moment, but since no one knew it was coming, we cut to the gorgeous Ms. Cruz as planned. By the time we cut back from her close-up, Josh and Javier were walking to the podium.”

Ta-da! A new 'Modern Family'

Ta-da! A new 'Modern Family'

It's the last "Modern Family" for a few weeks, and it finished strong with Wednesday night's episode, penned by "Seinfeld" writer (and short-lived "Celebrity Apprentice" contender), Carol Leifer.

Both Phil and Jay have a similar problem, what Jay refers to as "not liking loose ends." When Phil finds  spa coupons worth a few hundred dollars that are expiring, he's determined to cash them in, with or without Claire. As he told her, "If you don't use them, then all of our money just goes to charity!"

Claire was too busy trying to get her daughters to get along: "I want them to shop together and do each other's hair, and talk about boys... like I used to do with Mitchell."

'Top Chef': Family brings out the best

This week’s “Top Chef” was the last episode before we move on to the finals rounds, so it’s arguably the most intense point of the competition.

Somehow, that gave us one of the most cordial episodes of the season. (If you don’t want to know what happened, stop reading now.)

Before the Quickfire, we see the chefs hanging out in their loft, with Richard asking Antonia to predict what’s going to happen. Antonia: “Is Padma coming in here?” Cue Padma’s entrance and the ensuing contestant freak out.
