NYC 'Housewives' will have drama, cast members promiseDon't believe those reports that the "Real Housewives of New York" premiere was postponed because it was boring. Two of the cast members promise plenty of drama when season four debuts this spring. Housewife Alex Van Kempen tells Vulture that Bravo held off on running the show because it simply wasn't ready yet. Usually the series airs two to three months after taping is completed, but that wasn't the case this time around. "We finished filming February 1, we were supposed to premiere February 15," she says. "Do the math: You can't finish a show in two weeks in post." Academy Awards helps films at box officeThe buzz surrounding the Oscars is helping the nominated films at the box office. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "The King's Speech" has earned more than $200 million worldwide, followed closely by "Black Swan" and "True Grit." Meanwhile, "The Social Network" surpassed that milestone in January and "The Fighter" has made more than $100 million. "It's pretty impressive what the Academy dramas have done, and not just in the U.S. but all over the world," Sony Pictures Entertainment vice chair Jeff Blake told THR. Could this mean more of the same kind of cinema in the future? Perhaps. "The stunning box-office performance of small awards films this season has rocked the conventional thinking in Hollywood," THR notes, "prompting many to speculate on whether studios will rush to release more adult dramas." Will you be catching any of the nominated films this weekend in anticipation of Sunday night's telecast of the Academy Awards? 'Bachelor's' Shawntel: I've moved on from BradShawntel Nelson didn't know much about "The Bachelor" when she was selected to be a contestant this season. In fact, she didn't technically apply to be on the show. "My two younger sisters signed me up for the show," Shawntel said. "I never watched the show before I went on. The other women were talking about date cards and two-on-one dates, and I didn't know what they were talking about." The 25-year-old funeral director was eliminated from the show Monday after taking Brad Womack to her hometown of Chico, California. While in Chico, Shawntel showed Brad a few tricks of the funeral trade. Weeklies cheat sheet: Babies, weight loss and Miley CyrusWe're kind of surprised that more celebrity weeklies didn't latch on to the story of Billy Ray Cyrus blaming "Hannah Montana" for "destroying" his family. The way this thing is going, we're about three more rumors away from a made-for-TV movie. And yet, instead of that drama, we've got pregnancy news, royal wedding updates and Kendra losing ten pounds. But there is a story about Miley Cyrus being "destroyed by her daddy" - if you haven't had your fill of this family yet, that's just for you. Until next week... Bieber's 17th birthday plans? Hopefully, cheesecakeUnlike most 17-year-olds, Justin Bieber doesn't want a big blowout when he celebrates his birthday March 1. "I'm just going to relax, because I start my world tour starting on [March 4] — so [I'm] going to mentally prepare and just relax. No birthday bash," he tells "Entertainment Tonight" of his plans. That's not to say that he won't have a sweet time. "Hopefully my grandparents will be out here and I'll be able to spend time, a little bit, with them. My grandma makes the best cheesecake — cherry cheesecake," he says. "She made that for my 13th birthday." Jennifer Hudson: New figure has me too excited to sleepJennifer Hudson's 80-pound weight loss has also resulted in quite a bit of sleep loss, but according to the Oscar-winning singer-actress, that's not necessarily a bad thing. “At night I can't even sleep because I can't wait to see what I am going to wear the next day," Hudson told CNN at the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event Thursday. The Weight Watchers spokesperson, who slimmed down from a size 16 to a size 4, added that her new figure has made getting glam for all those premieres and awards shows quite a breeze. "It does make it a whole lot easier because now my fittings aren't that long," she explained. "The first thing I try on, I’m like, 'That's the dress. OK, let’s go.' And it’s that simple, and it's fun, and it looks good!" It's not all about Sheldon on 'The Big Bang Theory'On Thursday night's "Big Bang Theory," Sheldon faced a real shock to the system. It turns out that our favorite group of geeks doesn't revolve around him. In fact, Leonard is the de facto leader of the group. And so, with Leonard dating Priya, they're spending a lot more time in Raj's apartment. This doesn't sit well with Sheldon: "We could also stop using the letter M. But I think that idea is isguided and oronic." 'Showbiz Tonight' Flashpoint: Is Sheen done in Hollywood for good? There is explosive Charlie Sheen outrage today after his bizarre and rambling rants on radio’s “The Alex Jones Show” and a scathing open letter to the creator of his show, “Two and a Half Men”! Charlie actually calls Executive Producer Chuck Lorre a “contaminated little maggot,” and that is just a small taste of his explosive media meltdown! It’s easy to see why CBS has decided to cancel production of “Two and a Half Men” for the rest of the season! I am scared for Charlie. It sounds like he has completely lost his marbles. I hope someone can reach him at this point to help him and I hope it is not too late. But what do you think? Post your thoughts below. Gervais writes Oscars jokes for Franco and HathawayControversial comedian Ricky Gervais may never be asked to host the Academy Awards, but he knows just how he wants things to play out when James Franco and Anne Hathaway do the honors at Sunday night's ceremony. Gervais, who made headlines for his celebrity-skewering jokes at the Golden Globes, took to his blog recently and scripted some banter for Franco and Hathaway "in case they have a few minutes to fill" during their opening monologue. As expected, much of it isn't exactly family friendly. Below, a few excerpts from Gervais' proposed Hathaway/Franco monologue: Vanessa Hudgens talks new butterfly neck tattooZac Efron's ex Vanessa Hudgens flaunted a new companion at last night's L.A. premiere of her film "Beastly": a tiny butterfly on her neck. Hudgens got the insect art during a recent visit to New York City and told CNN she couldn't wait to show it off. “I've actually wanted it for years, and it kind of spontaneously happened...I'm all for spontaneity," she said.
The name "Vanessa" reportedly means "butterfly," according to Just Jared Jr, and it was Hudgens's pal, Australian MTV VJ Ruby Rose, who convinced her to get inked at New York's popular Bang Bang. |
