David Arquette tells all about his battle with drugs and alcohol in his first post-rehab interview on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" today.
"When I had my first drink of beer, I must have been 4 years old," Arquette tells Winfrey, according to Us Weekly. "I was down in the basement with my dad and beer was there and I just grabbed it and drank it. And I remember that. It's one of my earliest memories."
It was also the start of his lifelong struggle with alcohol and drugs.
"I seriously started drinking probably when I was about 12," Arquette says. "I stole pot from my father when I was 8 years old."
Sober since December 2010, the actor credits estranged wife Courteney Cox — with whom he remains great friends — and sister Patricia Arquette with encouraging him to go to rehab.
"I came back from Miami and I had taken a nap. I woke up and Patricia and Courteney were at my bed. Courteney had a cup of coffee," he recalls. "I was like, 'What are you two doing here together?' I already knew."
